AVOID! Avoid and avoid! Who gave this place more than 2 stars? We were so excited to try this restaurant as it's so close to us and we continuously pass it on our route to work. But sadly, it fell short in every way possible!
The food: mediocre at best!
- the prices here are very high (chicken at $31 in north NJ?)
- blah taste... all the taste was masked by salt
- burrata was store bought but the tomatoes were delicious
- the fried potatoes was the best thing with the broccoli rabe being the second best
- gluten free pasta was cardboard with no flavor to the sauce
- the chicken with lemon, white wine, and garlic was tiny and covered with a thick/salty gravy
- polenta was okay but was oversalted as well
The service: needs work.
- I asked the waiter for paper napkins, his reply: "oh, why do you need them? I'll go look if we have". 20 minutes later, nothing. I went inside and got my own.
- the waiter read the specials without stopping, waiting, or even breathing. Guess he had it memorized his way.
- the food came out for 2 of us and the other 2 got theirs a few minutes later.
The outdoor area: good idea
- the outdoor area is large enough for a few tables and is a great idea
- there is a smell from the nearby construction
- it's loud (music and street)
- there is only 1 waiter for the entire area
Don't even look at the wine menu... you'll see $20 wine bottles at $80+.
All-in-all, the stomachache my wife experienced, the NYC prices for nothing, and the lack of decent service gives this place 2 stars at best. You may want to sit down and rethink the entire idea of this restaurant because as it stands today, it doesn't work!

Amazing experience dining here on a Saturday. We walked into a half full restaurant playing some really nice covers that put all of us into relaxation mode immediately. The food was excellent, the service friendly and quick. The owner is the sweetest ever - stopped by to check on everybody dining there; but not in the annoying way. Made us taste his fig grappa too - that was quite potent and yummy. Definitely recommend this restaurant for a dining experience with family or friends !

First time going to this restaurant and have to say we were completely impressed. My girlfriend and I decided to have dinner in edgewater instead of NYC(where I live now). This location used to have another Italian restaurant but it closed down years ago.
On immediately walking in we were greeted by the maitr'd who was pleasant and courteous. He walked us to our seats, adjusted our table and placed the napkins in our laps. This plus the interior decor gives the place a very classy touch.
On seating down you are immediately started off with bruschetta, bread, salami & grilled zucchini (couldn't top eating these).
Had the grilled octopus and it was really well cooked and presented well in a bed of lettuce & tomato.
Agree with other reviews that there wine list which is extensive & full of quality doesn't have many by the glass options. We weren't trying to get plastered so we chose than one glass option- a Napa Valley Cabernet. Surprisingly it wasnt listed on the wine list. The wine turned out to be quite good.
They actually have several wines that are hard to get on the market- particularly Italian wines. The bottle prices are very competitive.
For the entree my girlfriend had the black squid ink pasta and I had the pork chop. Both were outstanding in both taste & presentation. Make sure to have an appetite when ordering the pork chop cause it is massive!!
Service was very good. We were constantly being checked on and given recommendations.
Manager even gave me an interesting review of his favorite wines and their market prices.
As far as prices go, Acapella is in keeping with other high-end restaurants In metro NYC area. And the experience is definitely worth it.
Disagree with reviews that it's pretentious - my girl and I both came very casual in jeans & never got that vibe.
All in all we were very impressed with our dinner experience. This is now one of our favorite places and we are definitely making this a regular haunt.
Would give a 4.7 but will round up since 4 stars would be doing a deservice.
Strongly recommend!!!!

The place is okay, is clean, it's not the best view but still is good. The food was delicious, hot & on time . The waiter was a good guy but maybe too friendly some people just I don't like to be touched or tell them what to do. The bartender was a lovely lady and the drinks / mix was right & delicious .

Attended this restaurant with my husband for occasional lunch around 12:30 PM on a Tuesday, did not do any research of the restaurant since we always pass by it almost every day. Come to find out, it was a fancy one. Oops! Arrived there and was looked at as if we could not afford this place because of our outfits (jeans and t-shirts).
Not a great way to receive people. The restaurant was empty, so the waiter had no reason to look at us such a way.
Decided to continue our meal regardless of what the waiter thought and ordered. The food was good, but did not come with any sides (spaghetti, veggies or anything). We had two glasses of moscato, which it was great.
Was rushed with the check once we were done. Mind you the restaurant remained EMPTY, but we were still rushed.

Must have been a bad night for them since the place came highly recommended. We made reservations for 4 on Sunday evening, and the place was relatively empty. There was one large group of maybe 20, plus three or four other regular tables occupied. Strangely, the waiter who attended to our table was apparently the chef. He brought us water, and told us the specials for the day. About 45 minutes later, we had to flag down a different waiter since ours was nowhere to be seen. The second waiter promptly took our appitizer order, and was very apologetic. Shortly after, the original waiter (the chef) re-emerges and takes our main dish order. Sadly, two of the four dishes we requested from the menu were not available. We ordered what was available, and were ultimately pleased with the secondary choices. The food was delicious, and nicely presented. One quick point which I can't leave unmentioned. Three of us were done eating when the table person came by to retrieve our plates. Our fourth party was still eating, and had her fork in her hand when the table person reached over and took her plate away. It was pretty comical for us all, except her of course. Finally, dessert was absolutely fantastic. Overall, the place is cozy and the food is great. I would have given a higher rating had it not been for the apparent short staff which resulted in our waiting so long to order appetizers, and the lack of availability for the items listed on the menu.

Great restaurant with real authentic Italian food! Loved the funny and attentive staff and the owner even took time to draw with our baby daughter so we could eat in peace. It is rather busy on the weekends but calm during the week. Enjoy!

The place mainly had old men with young "escort" looking women. I wish I had read the previous reviews before going here. As others have said, extremely pretentious, overpriced, etc. The waiter was so shocked that my wife and I came in just for a quick pasta and a glass of wine. He rolled his eyes when we declined appetizers and desserts. Their drink menu is all bottles of wine, starting at about $75 each. When we said we just wanted a glass of wine each, he rolled his eyes like we are peasants. The food was mediocre at best. Sickening.
