Review Honey Bear - Eagle River

Kim Buschkopf
One of the best fish fries I've ever had, and this is coming from a native Wisconsinite. The All-you-can-eat fish fry is available every day of the week and it is more than worth it. The Bloody Mary is a meal in itself as well! Very cozy interior. We've heard many of our friends lauding their pudding shots as a must try. Our friends from all over Wisconsin and even Illinois know of The Honey Bear!

We went here at around 2:30-3:00 on a Sunday afternoon. We had excellent service. The food was great! Though the dining area is rather small, it had great Christmas atmosphere. Would Highly recommend this place

Very nice clean little bar restaurant. I didnt have one, but the bloody Mary's looked like they were delicious. I dont think you would have to order any food if you order o e of those.... they put a butt load of fixings in them!

Honey Bear has the BEST fish fry ever. I love that you can order it any day of the week for lunch or dinner. Their Bloody Mary’s are also fantastic. This place is popular and small, so come early if you don’t want to wait. If you do have to wait, it’s totally worth it though.

Our first visit. Excellent food, service, atmosphere. Moderate prices but food was good value for the dollars spent.

I believe this to be the best fish fry in the Eagle River area. As proof- don't plan to get seated without a decent wait- but if you like a good fish fry when enjoying the north woods- its worth the wait + plus they make a good old fashioned you can enjoy on their outdoor waterfront waiting area. The drink prices are very reasonable.

After a day of tubing down the Wisconsin River we stopped here for dinner. I had a patty melt that was yummy. The chicken & dumpling soup was wonderful as well. The Asian(?) Salad was not ever exciting. I wouldn't order that. But foe the most part the food was good

Must try. I eat at honey bear every time I'm in the area. It's such a warm environment with friendly staff. Not to mention the food is amazing! Fish fry has to be the best in town! Huge burgers, homemade soup, and homemade cheesecurds! Everyones meal has a choice of fresh crispy frech fries, creamy potato salad or cottage cheese. The bloody mary is delicious and could be a meal by itself. The mens bathroom is little small but the ladies bathroom is decorated well. I go there often with my family and never once have any of us had a complaint. Its definately worth your time if your in the area!

So So. The bathrooms are hideous especially the men's. The fish is OK but I can name a number of local restuarants that are better - Bucktails, Wicked Grill, 12 Pines, Michaels. Fries are the cheapest available and all the above restaurants serve superior fries. Prices are normal and service is slow due to size of facility and lack of waitresses.

If you are looking for adequate everything, superior nothing and restrooms that are some the worst I have seen go to the Honey Bear!!!!

Best Walleye FRY. I've had hundreds of fish fries from coast to coast and the gulf states to Canada. Honey Bear stands out amongst the best!
Honey Bear restaurant has JUST the right touch to deep fry the farm raised Walleye to a wonderful rich crispy mouth watering goodness. The breading is crispy, not heavy. It mates with the Walleye better than any other I've had. It doesn't bloat. They also have a world class Cod fish dinner too!
Dinners come with french fries, cole slaw or potato salad, marbled Rye bread, and a creamy tartar sauce that amazingly makes the Walleye and Cod taste even more scrumptious. The food product is stable and fresh. The food quality is consistent and constantly (excellent). Time after time.
The Restaurant building is small. Bathrooms are small. The serving area is not huge, tables are somewhat close together, the restaurant fills up quickly starting around 4:30PM. Wait staff is adequate, mostly young kids. They DO respond to questions and extra side orders. They are so concerned with creating the food right and getting the food on your table correctly that they might appear totally business like rather than friendly.
There is a connected bar that serves drinks and beer. Food was served in about 15 minutes.
We've eaten at this restaurant many times. Have yet to be disappointed. We travel 20 miles to get there. Obviously this restaurant is doing something right . . . . even though this area of Wisconsin is a vacation mecca for the Midwest, we've seen the same people there several times.

Great Fish Fry. We goe to Honey Bear when we want a simple but tasty meal. They have one of the best fish fries in the area. Friendly staff and comfortable surroundings.
Portions are large at Honey Bear and it is one of the few bar/casual dining areas to locally get a really good, interesting salad. My husband usually has the hamburger which is a full 1/2# on a toasted bun. The Walleye, served daily, is very light and tender and a large portion. We have never had a bad meal at Honey Bear and Corrine, the regular day waitress, is the best!
