Review Chepo's Mexican Restaurant - Eagle River

The service team was great, and the food was fire. The atmosphere was cozy, though the tables and benches needed a touch up, it didn't impede our dining experience. Would definitely go back again.

I had the spinach enchiladas but there was too much spinach for my taste so you couldn’t taste any cheese or sauce or even the tortilla. I felt like I just had spinach for dinner. Chips, salsa, beans and rice were excellent. The restaurant was packed but we were seated quickly and service was very quick.

We just got taco plates to go for lunch. We see the place but had never went. While waiting on order it seemed like they have regulars. They knew each others names We will be going back. The taco plate was good

Who would have thought that you could find a good Mexican food restaurant in Alaska!? It was great! I had the Chicken Avocado salad. Taco salad is my usual, but glad that I made that choice. Good food and good service. My husband and I would both recommend it.

Food was good, some of the sauces were a bit salty.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Chepo's where there was something for each of us, delicious drinks, and wonderful service.

This has become my go to Mexican restaurant. The food is always great, the service amazing and the price reasonable. However, tonight was off the chain. The food was the best I've EVER had, and the service AMAZING! Nicky is amazing, friendly, fast, and efficient. She had a smile the entire time and made sure we were always taken care of. Thank you Chepos and Nicky for providing such a great experience!

Delicious Mexican Food!! I met my parents and brother today for lunch and the food was amazing and so was the staff. I ordered the Asada Burrito and it was packed with meat and flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant if you find yourself in Eagle River, AK and need somewhere to eat.

A favorite of ours. Very fast, very friendly and the food is always accetable at a minimum. They give you plenty of chips, and food has always been served hot. Dont think ive ever had a bad experience, they are very consistent!

I moved up from the SF Bay Area where you have a plethora of amazing Mexican food. Chepos ER is the only place in Alaska that I really enjoy. Friendly staff, good drinks, and great food

Lucia is the sweetest. So friendly. And cute little restaurant. Food was great. Recommend the mini chimichangas with the jalapeño cream cheese. And I loved my shredded beef enchiladas! Oh and my margarita was very well blended. Awesome!

Unlike my daughters review I'm more understanding . Yeah we waited hours to get out our food. That's Because it was Cinco DeMayo . I don't care what people say . If gonna go celebrate Cinco DeMayo you won't get the excellent service that you want. Not on that day. Doesn't matter what Mexican restaurant either. Just to people at one time. Plus, no kitchen can keep up with the demand. So suffice to say I love Chepos on any given day. Their service is great and I didn't have to wait long. The staff is friendly and they do a good job. So, my advice. If you want to go celebrate Cinco DeMayo. Do it at home. Invite some friends. But, if you go to Chepos or any other Mexican restaurant you not gonna get the attention or service. a You will be very highly disappointed and pissed off.

We love Cheops! Always great service! The chicken fajita quesadilla is the BEST! And there is no better place to celebrate cinco de mayo! They do it right!

We had an early dinner here Monday afternoon. Food was delicious as always. I want to mention our waiter. He was a young mad named Alex! (That’s what our receipt said) He was Wonderful. Very friendly, Very polite, very attentive! He was the Best!

I love coming here! Great food every time and great service. Love coming in on Friday for the fun activities. I especially love the Acapulco dinner! Get it almost every time. Also if there is something wrong with the food ever they go above and beyond to make it better.

Sophia was an excellent hostess and Ernie was an awesome waiter who served me at the bar.

Mobile review Terrible foo.... Mobile review<br/>Terrible food & service. Seated w/o menus. No server came to take our drink order, or any order. Tried waving one down SEVERAL times but was ignored. Salsas had no flavor- just so bland. Ordered queen tostada w/extra lettuce & received LITERALLY 5 forks of lettuce. The rest was really greasy ground meat & watery beans. I ordered a side of lettuce which wasn't much but by that time lost my appetite. The strawberry margarita had a weird taste. My husband's nachos were really greasy, as was the Mexican pizza. This is honestly the worst Mexican restaurant I've tried in AK in last 20 years. We won't ever go back.

My dining time was 8 p.m., not 1 p.m.<br/><br/><br/>-----23 Jan, 2014-----<br/><br/>The food is decent and typically service has been equally decent. But tonight I arrived just before I p.m. and stood at the 'wait to be seated' sign for 5 minutes (there were only 7 people in the entire restaurant), while one server sat at the bar goofing around on his phone and a cook/manager came out to watch t.v. When someone finally came out to acknowledge/seat me I indicated I had been standing here for 5 minutes I was met with a sarcastic, "well sorry, I was in the back! There's another server right there." ... was the guest supposed to go retrieve him?? Disappointing!!

Staff was friendly but that's about the only thing good about the place! Had mild and hot salsa, pretty bland and the chips were descent. Ordered the enchiladas de mole and tasted like a mixof cchocolate and bbq sauce. Rice and beans were okay if u don't have high mexican standards. Finally, wife had 2 hard tacos, one was stale and was clearly old and the other was better but was soft and mushy on the bottom. Place needs a new look and an upgrade to their food. Would go to taco bell before here again, WONT BE BACK!

I usually love chepos. I was so disappointed today. The kitchen was slow and our waiter was rushed. Our appetizer was served cold and crusty. We asked for sides with our appetizer when we ordered, and had to ask or them twice after we go our appetizer. The waiter never smiled once an was walked away in the middle of taking down the rest of my order. Rude. I don't care how busy and rushed you are, that's just not Ok. I had to ask the bus boy for something because the waiter was no where to be found and he came back with a very rude "that's something you need to ask your waiter for". Ended up waiting for my fajitas for 45 minutes. Was late to a baby shower. Worst service I've had in a long time. Not ok for a place like chepos that has always been so consistent.

Will be going back. Food tasted good and large portions. Even my wife an avid mexican food hater wants to come back

Not happy with the food and when I told them they didn't offer to take it off the bill even though we didn't eat it. Everything was bland as well. Will not stop here again.

Decent. The food and chips/salsa is great. The seat and decor needs to be upgraded. Seats are very old and well worn. Staff is pretty cordial with the exception of the one middle aged man that works early afternoon, he is a bit grumpy and never has anything to say. We have to force him to speak- otherwise better than Jalapenos

I didn't eat much but honestly the chips weren't good. The service was horrible, super slow and rude. Portions were ok but I see why the parking lot was empty.

One worthwhile item.... While my friends and I don't care for this restaurant, there is one item worth going back for. Try the chicken fajita quesadilla off the appetizer menu. Yummy. Everything else is extremely bland.

Yum!. Chepo's has some of the best refried beans we've had since moving up from Texas. Everything we've tried has been delicious (we've been a lot!). And they have mole, which is a huge, huge plus for me. It's on our "regulars."

The Wasilla location is much much better. The food you get at this location can be very wet. Most items taste pretty good though.

More watered down Mexican food!

Great Tasting. I like Chepos it's a fun place and kid friendly. They always have coupons available and oh yeah.... the food is tasty too. Some of the best margaritas around.

The chips and salsa are the best in town! If you like spicy then ask for the green salsa, it's complementary and pretty tasty! Overall fairy priced and very authentic!
