The oldest single Arch bridge in the world. Possibility of seeing the Tanfield Railway steam train passing. Nice place to have a picnic lunch, to walk or visit the on site cafe.

We parked in the picturesque car park and enjoyed a 'car picnic lunch' before heading onto the path. It was a lovely woodland walk and with the clearly signed options (steep with steps or flat) it gave us the ability to decide which to do. My wife has bad knees, but we still decided to give the stepped option a try as she loves woodland walks and wanted to give it a go. Although the steps were steep, we felt safe and made it to the top. The bridge itself is an awesome spectacle and the view to the valley below quite something. We took the easy way back to the car for a change of scenery as much as anything. Lovely walk that we thoroughly enjoyed.

Oldest railway bridge. Very east to find as signposted. Car park. Lovely woodland walks. Tanfield Railway has a station there.

Oldest single arch railway bridge in the worth, definitely worth a visit if in the area, well presented place with plenty of car parking and disabled access as well which is surprising as it's quite a hilly area.

Lovely place for a walk with lots of little bridges and steps. Just a little bit short unless you walk all the way to east Tanfield railway

Lovely walk under and over this well preserved piece of history. From the train we noted a lovely carpark with lots of picnic benches and a nice looking cafe.

A really lovely walk. Amazing scenery and lots of space to let your dog off the lead. Fairly quiet other than the odd dog walker/hiker. Can be really muddy in some places so bring some better footwear than we did! Definitely recommend.

Absolutely gorgeous place to go for a walk on a nice night. You can stroll round the entire walk in under 2hrs and has plenty of great photo opportunities especially by the viaduct and tracks. Definitely worth a visit even if the Tanfield railway isn't running

An enjoyable walk for family, children and dogs. Easy to find parking (free), and several picnic tables are available. The walkways are mainly unsealed but are wide enough to walk comfortably. There are many lovely small bridges which cross over the small creek. It can get fairly busy so early morning might be a good option.
