Cafe Maddalena

What a great meal. Very attentive to you and the food. Truly a well crafted meal from start to finish. Did not get a picture of the appetizer, which was fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with shrimp. Butter leaf lettuce salad with creamy garlic dressing and smoked rouge blue cheese, I had the pan seared beef tenderloin and my wife had the chicken basquaise. Dessert was the fresh peach cheese cake. I cannot give a high enough rating for this meal and service.

Absolutely delicious birthday dinner, fabulous service. Felt like we were dining in San Francisco. The waitress opened up a bottle of their new Pinot Grigio for me one day before it was offered on the menu. She also recommended we try 2 different entrees so we can have more of a variety. My husband and I were going to both get the Ling Cod. So glad we ordered the beef filet, it was the best filet we’ve had in a long time. Perfectly seasoned. The potatoes served with it were phenomenal. The waitress also gave us their homemade vanilla ice cream with fresh nectarines topped with a meringue crumble on the house for my birthday. So nice, such great ambiance outside on their patio with the creek flowing underneath. We will definitely be back, next time we have to try the scallops, we’ve heard they are fabulous! Food was great as always. We were somewhat rudely asked to walk around town or go get a drink up the street when we arrived 15 minutes early. We noted multiple tables available at the time, and did not note them being occupied when we returned to be seated or later. We understand new ownership has just taken over.

First time at cafe maddalena. Took my wife and our baby there for mothers day dinner. First thing we noticed is all the tables had paper over the table cloth and the tables were padded. It felt like eating off a bed in the doctors office. Service was ok. Waitresses were attentive. We ordered cream of asperagus soup ( It was pretty good) and the pesto pizza for an appitizer. Pizza was not that good. I had ordered the steak and my wife ordered the pork belly. ( the two most expensive dishes)The glazes on the meats were good. But the pork belly was tougher than it should have been. And the steak was rare instead of medium rare like i ordered. The steak came with a sauce that had no flavor, french fries that were alright, and four pieces of asparagus that also was flavorless. The pork belly came with mashed potatoes that was good but had spinach on top that was over cooked and too salty. All together we paid $139 with tip for a meal i could have easily cooked at home. I expected much more quality and flavour for the price. Also the portions were very small. My wife would not ear her pork belly and that is a dish she usually likes. Not sure why most of the reviews were 5 stars.
