Southern Palate

Great food, very friendly lady running the place. The entrees being offered that day are in sight at the hit table asking with the sides. I got the ox tails with mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and green beans. You can choose mashed potatoes or rice, and then your sides from a selection of about 8 sides they cooked up that day. The macaroni and cheese is definitive southern style. The ox tails are full of amazing flavor and extremely tender. I also got a piece of meat loaf a la carte which was really good, topped with a very tangy red sauce. Judging by the way she greeted almost everyone who came in by name, I'm guessing there's a lot of repeat business here. After tasting the food, I can see why. Definitely worth the price.

We had the ox tail and two sides. Everything was fresh and homemade. The ox tail was very flavorful with just the right amount of seasoning. The okra and tomatoes were perfect and the candied yams were fresh pealed potatoes cooked. They had a large selection of homemade desserts also. Angie definitely knows how to cook.

Friendly owner. I got turkey wings, green, and mac and chese. My Friend got the oxtail with same sides..It was a bit of sticker shock when we got the price on the food. There wasn't any pricing listed..It would be helpful to list price of food to let customers make an informed decision when visiting their restaurant.

We came to Southern Palate after a float down the rainbow river and we will definitely be back. The food was some of the best comfort food I’ve had in a long time. The Mac and Cheese, rice and gravy, fried chicken, and bread pudding were highlights and I’ll be dreaming about the lemonade all summer. The staff was so hospitable and lovely to talk to. They have a beautiful back patio space and the owner even came out to check on us. We all left full and raving about the food and service. After reading other reviews it sounds like they constantly are switching up the menu and there were lots of things I didn’t get to try. I can’t wait for our next trip!

My first time getting take-out here. I love southern comfort food, especially this time of year. My first visit, I choose oxtail with rice, ocra, & mac-n-cheese. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and seasoned just right. My second visit, I went with the fish, greens & yams. I can't decide which was better. I just want to keep coming back for more. For dessert I had sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Angie, she is absolutely amazing and very kind. Thank you Miss Angie for your wonderful cooking. I can't wait to return and eat more of your delicious food. There's plenty of parking and tables available for seating and dining in. Come on in and help support this cute little local business. I highly recommend it.

This small restaurant and catering service is basically heaven on earth! Angie is big-hearted and a fantastic authentic Southern cook. The pictures I posted show our plates - before and after! She cooks the best liver and onions I’ve ever had, but my husband loved the smothered chicken. She serves the generous portions off a buffet line so you can see what you’re getting. I now have to go back to Dunnellon as soon as I can. Wow! The spirit of this place is so great. Nice place to sit out back, too. I loved the murals.
