Love it there good atmosphere, not a loud bar at all, the only thing I wish they had was a pool table

Gott im Himmel! This was so necessary today. Absolutely wonderful. My wife and I split a Kassler Ribchen. Soup was potato and cabbage. Side of red cabbage and a mouthful of Kassler and homemade Spätzle noodles made me think I was in Germany.
Chocholate Bavarian cream cake with a cup of coffee to round off the meal. Taste that cream in the homemade frosting.
Joe the owner is very friendly. Great atmosphere!
Umpah music in the background and Bit bier made this 30 year running Bier Stube a place I will plan to come back to... with my lederhosen on!

Seriously, the best German food in Iowa. Until we ate here we wondered why the best German food in Iowa was in our kitchen; now it is in Dubuque and we don't have to cook! Don't be put off by the outward appearance. Beauty is on the inside.

Great authentic German fare in a "locals only" feeling bar. Service isn't the fastest, but the food hits the spot

We went here because it had moderately good reviews. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we got there. It's more of a bar with some side seating. The food was not good at all. It was all microwaved. There was a long gray hair in my schnitzel. I would not recommend this place to any of my German family as they would see it as an insult.
