Huhot Mongolian Grill

I always enjoy my dining experiences at HuHot restaurants. This location did not disappoint this particular visit either. COVID protocol here required masks and social distancing. The buffett is still self-service; however, the line includes disposable gloves for patrons to use when filling their bowls. For the most part the buffett pans were routinely stocked and attended to. Our server was friendly and checked on our table often.

If you like to choose your own ingredients, and sauces then this is the place to eat. Masks are required the entire time from restaurant entry, preparing your bowl, while waiting for your food to be cooked, up to the time you sit to eat your meal. It is self serve until you hand your bowl over to the grill guys. You get to watch them cook your food. They have a sanitation set-up when you are ready to start your meal process. First you use the hand sanitizer. Then you grab your disposable gloves. You then choose your ingredients and hand the cook your bowl. Next, drop your gloves in the trash, or wear them back to your table when you are ready to eat. The entire staff are a friendly bunch. The meal costs about $11.00 for lunch. Drinks are extra $3.00. Dinner prices are about $3.00 more per person. The ingredients are fresh, and i am always pleased with my experiences.

Normally I love HuHot, but I was very disappointed at my recent visit to the Dubuque HuHot. From the moment I walked in, the restaurant was not very clean. They were not enforcing their mask policy at all, which was concerning. I even saw an employee at the grill with their mask under their nose. The food was also not as good as it usually is. The sauces tasted watered down. The people working the grill were not grilling the food properly, letting the food sit on the grill without mixing it with the sauce. I don’t know if they were new, but they were not doing it the way that HuHot usually does. The server was nice, but that’s about it.
