Definitely above standard for food, good service, and reasonable prices. We can vouch for the burger (pretzel bun!), Maxwell Style Polish, and the Famous Italian Beef (though I'd add cheese), along with the fries and onion rings. Custard shake was good but on the liquid side - I prefer mine thicker. Italian ice is a must as well.
Nice Italian sausage just enough of all the right spices. Fries were simple and done right. Only gripe would be that my bun was so chewy on the bottom half I had a hard time biting through it. A symptom of over-warming?
I'd come back - and plan to. Need to try the Red Hots and Italian Ices next!

Well Im back (again) and the ices are amazing!! So much so I am rasing my rating by 0.5... Lemon is really refreshing, but I thing Lime has it beat--stronger flavor and more sour!
Right away walking in service was 10/10 food was great, the fries were a perfect crispy crunch, Italian ice was amazing ! I would definitely recommend stopping by here & personally will be coming by more often!
came in and asked if I should get a beef or a burger. the friendly gentleman suggested the beef and it did not disappoint. I've been looking for a good homemade beef that could come close to my spot in Chicago and this right is on par. a darker,white thin sliced beef with good flavor is rough to find. happy I did. thank you teddy's
Food is good but pricey, when you can you can just drive 5 more miles to Portillos & get a better tasting meal for the same price & portions. I know everyone in today's world is doing SHRINK INFLATION by making the meals smaller & more expensive but that concept isn't going to work for the average American. Try running this place by yourself instead of having a couple of extra guys back there that you don't need to be more profitable so you can lower those prices my friend. You don't need to just stand or sit at the register my friendly owner. Your going to actually have to work if you want to survive another 20 years in that business.

Beep; Boop Beep’s! OBC is from Downers Grove and for the better part of 15 years all I’ve heard about is Teddy’s Red Hots and their delicious fries. So within ~20 minutes of our flight landing we found ourselves here for her tastebuds to take a walk down memory lane. While I will admit, the fries and onion rings were pretty darn good, that wasn’t the jaw-dropping part of the experience. Many others have commented as to it and it gets a little more personal when you are the one forking over $19 for a side of fries, onion rings and fountain beverage. I suppose it’s all relative, the poor dude behind me (btw, he entered wealthy and exited poor) got shaken down for $55 for 3 burger and fries for his kids. I sensed he was surprised too, then they gave him the total he gasped “$55?! Holy $h!t!...” I’m not certain how much revenue Teddy lost during any sort of Covid shut down, but he’ll have made it all back in no time at this torrid pace.
On the plus side, the staff was friendly, place was clean and the portions were “giant” as the menu stated; yet so were the prices. Heck, there was a steady stream of people so God bless ya, Teddy. Get it while you can, sir.
My client lives in downers said he’s been coming for years I walked in myself got a Italian beef dipped with hot peppers my client got a hamburger with everything when I say it was so flavorful and nice portions also received a complementary cup of Italian ice I will definitely return
Hello guy's, you know these reviews on here definitely do not lie. The items that were purchased was delish!!!! Burger could have been cooked a bit more to give it some juice. But it was still pretty good. On thee Italian ice I have got to say folk's " the Watermelon " flavor is off the hinges. It is so darn yummy!!!! Next it will definitely hafta be a Large. Be sure to $peak up. The sweet nice fella at the counter has a hard time hearing you. Unless, I was just soft spoken. Overall yummy !!!!!To the Cooks - Thank you very much. Job well done.

Teddys is top tier vittles! I come up from Oklahoma and teddys is always on the list of must stops! Do yourself a favor and stop in to get the beef, easy wet with sweet peppers and cheese!!! It’s always delicious!!

In a small trip to Chicago make sure you stop in and get a Red Hot and Green Soda! So worth it. The owners are right behind the grill at this family owned dinner and are nice as can be. The variety of hot dogs, sausages and all manner of grilled onion deliciousness can't be beat. Teddy's Red Hots put a smile on my face with every bite. Stop by and give'em a try.
My buddy grew up in Downers and he said this is the place to go for a beef. He was spot on! Great local spot with everything you could hope for. Great service too!
The Italian ice is amazing. Perfect balance of sweet, sour, and fruity flavor. Always the best soups. Also try the double dog! Perfect for a lunch or nice cheap date night!
