We stopped here for lunch. This small establishment is located inside a shopping center. Roti canal was my fav appetizer. We also had the satay and spring rolls, which were fine. We ordered two noodle dishes and the chicken. The staff were very polite. Iced coffee was delicious.
One of our favorite restaurants and we come here quite often. If you like stir fry noodles, delicious fried rice and south Asian food with a strong Malaysian influence, look no further. An absolute must try are:
Salt Fish Fried Ride
Char Kway Teow ( we get it with egg noodles)
Basil Chicken
Rendang Chicken
Whenever I eat here, I just feel grateful for the authentic food they serve here. Amazing place.
My family truly enjoyed our discovery of Mamak, a restaurant featuring a wide range of Malaysian street food. Though rather limited in seating capacity, Mamak delighted us with it's expeditious table service and inexpensive menu items. My favorite entree was the Hainanese Chicken, paired with the Sambal Okra. I highly recommend Mamak as a worthy stop while exploring the extraordinary diversity of Asian cuisine along Buford Highway.
Absolutely delicious. The Roti, the Rendang Beef, and Mamak chicken are all amazing!! The rice is so light and fluffy! The older guy at the reception area was so very nice. I can’t wait to go back!
This might be ugly delicious but one of the best restaurants in ATL is a Malaysian restaurant called @mamakatl on @welovebuhi.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This restaurant is small and during much of covid was just a takeout spot which was a pity because this might legitimately be a top 10 ATL restaurant when fresh. Thankfully mamak is back at full force.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let's talk about my fav dish at mamak the Kari Fish:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. The fish: the fish is lightly fried, very crispy fish fillet which by itself is awesome. Interestingly the original dish used fish heads not fillet 😂⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. The Kari: this curry is good, not even sure how to describe it, it's mostly savory and a little sweet, the crispy fish drenched in this stuff is awesome. Normally it's a little thick and is just an awesome pairing with sticky rice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. The veggies: the main veggies in this curry are eggplant, tofu and green beans, all of which are excellent in the curry (let's be honest everyone likes them but I usually eat around any veggie 😂)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Be sure to check out mamak, it is one of the best restaurants in ATL and now that it's open again everyone should visit!
Crowded when we arrived on Sunday, lunch time.
Ordered:
beef flat noodle, excellent
Salty fish and chicken fried rice, excellent
Roti canai, very good
Chicken Nasi lemak, good, only not enough variety.
The food came surprisingly fast, despite their are very busy. Servers are nice and very helpful, even thou we asking for many things :) sambal, chili, box, more water, chopstick.
Very good experience over all
It’s a rare restaurant that has me posting a review but this is a gem! I’ve eaten at quite a few Malaysian restaurants in America and this might be my favorite! We ordered the Beef Randang, the Char Kway Teow, and Black Pepper seafood combo. The star of the show was the Black Pepper combo. Amazing flavors!!! The beef randang was a good change but very different from most other dishes. Highly recommend stopping here. Flavors are outstanding!!!!
Great Malaysian food & excellent service.
Highlight dishes: green beans, sambal okra, and bone in Kari chicken
Make sure to ask for a side of their chili sauce if you like it spicy.
