The vegan burger was excellent. Sweet potato fries was right on point! Loved seeing the place full of people. My only concern was I stressed gluten free buns but one of my burgers was on a wheat bun so i gave it to the birds. Other than that everything was great!
I've had dinners from DVS numerous times, but today was my first brunch experience. Everything was incredible and our server (Erica) was very friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend this place.
Highly recommend the burger ... my lunch mate had the catfish sandwich ... our plates were wiped clean. A fellow diner from Dearborn noted that the burger is tasty without burning the roof of your mouth with seasoning. Love this place !
Very great fresh food that was tasty! Went back two days in a row for lunch! steamed kale, corn blend, bbq tofu, greens (a bit salty yet good), peppersteak, and potato salad....all good!
After procrastinating for close to six months I finally made my way to Detroit Vegan Soul - West today. I decided to try carry out, and ordered the DVS Burger with red potatoes, and spinach on the side; the Community Garden Salad with tempeh; and three sides (green beans, mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy, and the sesame broccoli). The food was absolutely delicious! Yum, yum, yummy, and good for the tummy!
My only complaint is the size of the portions, because a brother can eat! I will most definitely be paying Detroit Vegan Soul - West another visit very soon!!! I should also mention that the staff was very friendly, attentive, and professional, and the overall ambiance of the establishment was mellow, and chilled! My kind of place indeed.
I ordered the okra stew, Black eyed Pea Hummus with pita bread and veggies, Coconut BLT wrap minus the tomatoes I don't eat them with sweet potato chips. Absolutely delicious and the flavor/seasonings were just right.

Everytime I go I try a new dish, they have not disappointed me. The service is amazing, they go above and beyond to satisfy the customer. I never could have thought that vegan food could be this GREAT!
This place is so impressive! Staff is friendly food is fresh. Detroit Vegan Soul is my #1 food choice when I visit the city.

I called today to place a to-go order. My call got disconnected. I didn't call back because it was close to closing time. Guess what? They called ME back and asked if I called them to place an order. I was able to get there prior to them closing. That's what I call great customer service!! Oh, btw, the food ordered was delicious!

Gluten free and dining out has been difficult ... I’m so glad to have found a vegan restaurant that even non-vegans can enjoy too. The staff was wonderful ... it was a Friday night and they had a constant flow of people but it wasn’t overcrowded either. Will definitely be back.
My food was ready approximately at the time they promised everything I ordered was delicious this was the first time ordering vegan food the chili was absolutely amazing the collard greens was the best greens I have ever eaten I usually don’t eat collard greens because everybody cannot cook collard greens but they were season perfectly and very tender macaroni and cheese surprisingly had a very good flavor for them to be vegan will definitely be ordering there again very soon..Oh Yes baby!!! My green life smoothie was the icing on the cake to go with my meal was the best smoothie I have ever ordered out..it was so good…can’t wait until next weekend:)
We ordered the catfish, cheeseburger, collard greens, hopping John and coleslaw. Everything was delicious and hot, fresh and seasoned well.
Big props to the owner for running the joint solo the whole day (her employee was sick and she was forced to operate the entire space alone), she was poised and gracious and just lovely.

The Mac n cheese is the bomb!!!! My favorite item and the “Soul Platter” is filling, good snd contains a variety of vegan sides .

Omnivore here, but I have several friends who are vegan... and Detroit Vegan Soul is my first suggestion when we go out for lunch. I've enjoyed many of the delicious choices on the menu (check out the daily menu for yummy surprises) and don't feel like I'm missing out. Highly recommend.
ive been wanting to go here for years and i finally got to go! i loved the okra soup and the candied yams, the curried potato salad was immaculate. I ate so much i had to unbutton my pants for the drive home.

This is a favorite spot for our family and are so glad to have vegan options in the Rosedale Park vicinity.
I had a friend over (also vegan) for the weekend and he was eager to try them out.
We ordered two of the daily specials (Seitan Pepper Steak), and a variety of sides to share: mac-n-cheese, Hoppin John, okra stew, and candied yams (they were out of greens that time).
Currently, ordering is done solely online. Usually I like calling to make sure they haven't run out of a favorite item, but it looks like their online portal keeps up-to-date on menu items. I planned am order online as was given a estimated time of 45-55 min (not bad for DVS).
I got there and parked about 5 minutes prior to the estimated time and called in the let them know I arrived. There parking lot is snug and was packed! I ended up waiting about...20 min beyond the time given for the did to be done. The crew was apologetic. This was on a Saturday as well and around 5pm so I know it was rush time for people getting dinner.
The food was good, as usual. The seitan pepper steak was tasty but a bit salty for my taste (for comparison, my friend didn't find it too salty at all). The sides were all very good. The cornbread a bit overdone and dry. All together is give this visit (food, time to prepare, time to wait, staff...etc.) a "B" grade.
Even when things are shaky there, I do come back. Overall, I do recommend Detroit Vegan Soul.
Such an inviting place. As soon as you walk in you feel cozy and welcomed. They will definitely need a bigger location soon, with how delicious they're food is. It's a tad small but it's a great start! I suggest take out if you have a party over 4...
The atmosphere was beautiful, simple, and modern. It was very clean and almost elegant. The service was good and the wait was bearable. Then the food came.... Oh my goodness! It was delectable, savory, flavorful, comforting, and so filling. They had an easy menu full of different selections.
The whole experience was well worth the 45 minute drive. The prices weren't bad either, you get a good amount of food. I would highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and it's mouthwatering food. 10/10 Can't wait for the next visit!
