My grandmother used to take us there when we were little. I always loved that your food would come to your table on a choo-choo train! I’m 44 years old now but I will always keep those memories near and dear in my heart.
A little crammed, but good food and very friendly staff. Perfect for kids who love trains. A train brings your food to you if you sit at the counter.
Come for the novelty and stay for the nostalgia! Great little diner that is really about the experience. Though the foodwas tasty, too! Will definitely bring some friends here.
Always remember the time I spent here with my father and the good food we had. Wish I could give more that 5 stars but alas I cannot. The train theme is amazing and it's definitely worth a trip to see what they offer especially if you have kids.
The Choo Choo is great for families. The burgers are excellent...service is great! Extremely friendly establishment. Get in early as the seats fill up!!! Do not be discouraged if the line is out the door...well worth the wait. If you sit at the counter, a model train set delivers your food. If it's a child's birthday and you let the servers know, they will play a birthday song...its pretty great, kids love it! Don't forget to fill out your children's birthday info on the post cards that are at the counter and tables. The card will be mailed to you near the children's Birthday that will give the child a complimentary meal within 30 days of the child's birthday. The resturaunt is near the Metra Station so you can take the train in...just a block or two walk from the station. There is also parking near should you choose to drive. Enjoy!!!
So much fun to watch our food get delivered to out table via toy train. Food was also delicious. My kids were obsessed with the train. It was a special experience!

A Des Plaines institution! The place definitely caters towards families with kids, but adults can have a good time there too. Food was pretty good, but the fact it comes on a train makes it great.
