Stopped in after a show at the civic center on a weekend afternoon. Coffee with grounds in it, dried up chicken in the nachos. Table was sticky and menus were dirty. Desserts on the menu out of stock.
Something makes me feel like this is a good place to get food poisoning.
Staff was kind though.

1 star is being nice. Took awhile to be greeted and seated. Then more time passes and no wait staff acknowledged us so we left. So needless to say.... service sucks. Can't speak about the food but probably won't even try again. Spaghetti Works just west of them was AWESOME tho go check that place out!!!

Accommodated our very large group of 50 or so. We had awesome service! Great food! It's hard to choose because of all the great options. Reasonable prices. If you're in Des Moines, IA, it's a great place to go!

My girlfriend and I were going to a show at the Civic Center and she had suggested that we stop in for a quick bite. Overall, this place is nothing fantastic. Our server was good, food was okay and our experience was okay, but could be better. As I observed other tables - they were not having as positive experience as we were. They were short staffed both in the front/back of the house and it definitely showed during our experience. I had a chicken wrap and fries and my girlfriend had a pizza quesadilla. Neither were exceptionally amazing - just average fare. I've never been to this location but the one on Pleasant Hill but both have similar experiences.
If you have a average expectation of this place, lower it a notch and you'll be right on par, if you choose to experience it yourself. I will be looking at other choices next time I'm looking for a spot for dinner.

Came in for lunch and was in a hurry due to time. Received our lunch in a timely manner and the staff was very curtious. Food was very good as well. I had the half chicken wrap and chili. Nice and spicy, just the way I like it.

Usually the food and service is good. This day it was not! The hostess greeted us and proceeded to complain about her day and co-workers as she seated us and gave us menus. Then our server (Jessica) comes up and takes our menus from us and says that we have the wrong menus because they have different menus for late night because they don't have enough cooks to the support the full menu.
Ordered a couple bloody marys. They had no pickle, olive, lime or salt. Just mix and vodka. Tasted gross. We ordered a couple sandwiches and fries. The fries were lukewarm. The plate was scalding hot as well as the lower bun and meat which leads me to believe it was possibly microwaved. When I got our bill I left enough money to pay for the food but not the drinks as they were unfit for consumption. We left the restaurant and proceeded to walk. Our server chased us down half a block demanding we pay for the rest of the bill and threatened to call the police. So for my own amusement I complied. We talked to the store manager and she gave us a discount on the drinks. If any party should have had the cops called on them, it should've been Legends for theft as they robbed us of our money for a product that was not worthy of pig slop.
It hurts to say this as I have always enjoyed coming to legends and love their spinach dip. I do not recommend Legends. At least not this location.

I didn't give this place 2 stars because of the food. The food was decent at best. I would definitely have a talk with the cooks or make the menu small. Maybe too much to handle for them. The reason for my 2 stars is the service. The lady sitting people didn't smile once, shuffled her feet as she walked around. The other reason I gave it 2 stars is the service. I sat for 10 minutes before my drink order was taken. I think your employees need a talking to about prompt service with a smile.

I wanted a quick bite last night, and Legends was open. I decided to give it a try. I ordered the grilled chicken with a side salad. The chicken was over cooked. It was like chicken jerky. I had to tear it apart with my teeth, since I only had a butter knife. I almost wonder if the food would have been better if I had shown up before 10:15.
There was live music and that's the only reason I'm going to give them two stars. I will eat at any other place before I go here again. I'll even eat frozen pizza from a bar before I eat at the downtown Legends.
