GO TO ALBA for the food, for the drink, for the people
We LOVE Alba and have never had anything but stellar service and immaculate, delicious food and drink. Saturday night, June 30, we had an hour before meeting our son downtown, so finally got to sit in the bar. Garrett (later learned he was the GM) made us our first cocktail, the Mother Nature, which we loved so much the first time we had it on the restaurant side that our waiter - without us asking - gave us the recipe! They were brilliant along with the pork belly rillettes... it was a delicacy! Garrett spent time chatting and explaining cocktails and liqueurs and shared three generous pours of different types that we had never tried - so much fun! For our final drink, Steve ordered the Bing Crosby - phenom - and Garrett made me a special Manhattan with some type of chile liquor and it was so different and delicious. The hour we spent was a total experience - good conversation in just the right dose and we learned about and got to try liquor that we would be hesitant to purchase but now know what we like! We're pretty adventurous cooks and diners, but Alba has offered some beautiful and delicious starters and entrees that have allowed us to taste and enjoy many different combinations and ingredients. I highly recommend visiting Alba SOON! Thanks Garrett and Alba!
I went there last night with my wife for a date night during restaurant week. What can I say? I had the best food I've ever eaten! I had the Salmon Coho, Braised Short Rib and Dulce de Leche Panna Cotta. I was deliberately taking small bites and eat slowly because I didn't want the amazing dishes I ate to end! Salmon was refreshing and presentation was tight and beautiful. The Braised Short Rib was a lot fattier dish than I am used to eating. It was rich, short rib was so tender and delicious and risotto was creamy. Again, stunningly presented. Panna Cotta was a very refreshing end to the evening. Not too sweet with many layers of flavors. We will be back again and before the next restaurant week. Food is well worth the money. I can't wait a full year to have it again. Such sexy food!! :)
Thank you Alba's for another wonderful anniversary. We always enjoy sitting at the chef's table and the food and service were as always excellent. It doesn't matter what you have they always take the flavor up a notch.
We are never dissatisfied or disappointed with Alba. The service is excellent, great selection of wine, beer and spirits. The menu is seasonal, local, innovative and beautifully prepared. Our go-to when entertaining guests or celebrating special occasions.
Amazing atmosphere, amazing food, amazing wine and best of all... amazing employees, super nice and extremely knowledgeable about their food and wine selections! It was our first time ever dinning here and we will most definitely be back!
Food was Amazing, that's a given. Perfect sized portions. Sherry, I hope I'm spelling her name correctly, was our waitress and was on top of her game at giving Superb, quality customer service, being extremely knowledgeable of the menu items making unforgettable suggestions for my wife and I during our 8th year wedding anniversary celebration. They even gave us dessert on the house. Thank you! Customer Service makes the entire dining experience and unfortunately it's going slowly by the wayside. Thanks Sherry for showing us there's still hope that Excellent caring customer service still exists. We highly recommend you and will look for you when we return.
Had a wonderful dinner with excellent service and delicious food. The Brussels sprouts are the most delicious I've had! And truly the deviled eggs were amazing. Our server was very attentive and had a lovely deep voice--he was great. Just the right amount of friendliness--and he was a fan of my tattoos! A great restaurant with plenty of vegetarian options. Wonderful!
Loved it. Wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and highly recommend this cozy eatery. The food is well prepared with seasonal selections. Wait staff is knowledgeable attentive and very accommodating. We sat at a table for 2 and then had friends join us and they quickly moved us to another table. Loved the atmosphere and the clean sharp tasteful decor. Awesome all around well done Alba

Every time we go it's amazing! The menu changes and I love it! Never had a bad experience there! The owner is awesome! This is also where I got engaged. Will keep coming back and back

Fantastic Experience! They have a chef’s table opportunity where you can sit with a party of four and have a AMAZING meal. That’s what we did as a holiday treat, and it was unbelievable. The chef here is fantastic. Garret, the front of house guy, is charming. 100% recommend.
My favorite restaurant! Food is always cooked perfectly and they have a menu that constantly changes with new exciting options. Their unique sauces and sides really make your entree special. Staff is always warm and helpful. The art and doors that hang on the ceiling along with the large windows are wonderful! Can't wait to go back!

Don’t wait for a special occasion! The service and menu is incredible. Tonight was gnocchi and seabass. When we want fine dining in the East Village- Alba is our choice!
Good food, decent ambiance and excellent service. We enjoyed our dessert the most, a perfect molten chocolate cake with buttermilk ice cream and will just go back for that..it was that good.
While I wish they had a dedicated vegan option, this is the best "the chef will make you something vegan" I have ever had. Great service and delicious food. The location was also unique and stylish.
Fantastic food, drinks, and good service. Definitely one of the better restaurants in Des Moines we have been to. We really enjoyed the pork confit, the gnocchi with chicken confit, deviled eggs, and salad. Cocktails were great as well.
Good GOLLY. I love this place. We went to celebrate getting through wedding planning and to celebrate a new job. Everyone was SO NICE. I mean 10/10 customer service. I have a severe gluten allergy and they were ON IT. Went so far above and beyond. The chef at the time (who was leaving) amazing and funny. The (what I can assume) Manager he was awesome too. Checking in making sure everything was perfect. And honestly this place is a 2.5 $ not 3. For what we got it was perfectly priced.
