Review Chowder Bowl - Depoe Bay

My wife has been talking about this place since we first met 2 years ago. She loves it for their clam chowder, even more than world famous moes. I have to say, after trying it, I have to agree. The clam chowder was delicious and unique, I've never had clam chowder like what you find at chowder bowl. We had just beaten the lunch rush only because we came after it, but driving by at lunch time, the place was crowded. The atmosphere wasn't that great, it was dimly lit, but they had a cool train that ran the length of the restaurant, so that was a unique touch. I will be coming back here again, and would recommend everyone try it at least once.

Would give 5 stars before new ownership. But will give 4 stars because we specifically go out of our way to come here when we visit Lincoln city and the Oregon coast. Why do we come here? The turkey club car sandwhich. It is to die for. The best tasting sandwhich ever, and we've eaten a lot of turkey clubs before. They used to have our favorite fries quite honestly in the whole world and I'm a fry connoisseur, until the new ownership. Those cheap little potato disks chip things are not it. Bring back the old fries. Also coming out on top of my sandwhich was actually visually disgusting, hot potato chips on a cold sandwhich, warm lunch meat, yuck. Really great BBQ and honey mustard. I hope this place stays in business, we love it.

Ate lunch with the wife for the first time and we where a little disappointed with the clam chowder it had a real flour taste,but the Dungeness crab sandwich was the real deal. We enjoyed our meal.

We stopped for a bowl of chowder after whale watching. Boy, was it delicious! Our server was awesome; he gave us good suggestions and kept our drinks filled.

Super delicious food. Chowder had no "chunks of flour" as described by other reviews. It was delicious and creamy. The dinner plates came with fries, garlic bread, AND either a salad or Cup of chowder for an average of 20 a dinner plate. Great deal I felt. The waiter was also killing it!

This place was a surprisingly good find! We were staying in Newport during a heatwave so there were way more people than there usually are. So all of the restaurants we wanted to go to were completely packed and had two hour wait times. We happened to find this place when we were desperately looking for a place to grab a quick bite to eat for dinner and they did not disappoint! The service was excellent. The food was great, and the atmosphere was super cozy and quaint. I would love to go to this place again when we're stopping through Depoe Bay. The chowder bowl was delicious!

Best chowder I've had in a long time. Their fish and chips were fresh and delicious. There was only one server at the time (Elizabeth) - (We came in near closing) and she was friendly, fast, and really attentive. We had a great time while we were there. Excellent atmosphere and it's right along the coast so you can take a walk to digest when you are done.

Best crab cakes I've ever had, plus fantastic sourdough bread bowl (cannonbowl) for the excellent chowder!!!

Really excellent clam chowder at a reasonable rate. The chowder is a 5 star but their salad was very small, although I liked the mixed greens instead of iceberg lettuce. There is parking in a lot behind the restaurant, then walk down the steep hill.

Food here was great! Had the clam chowder cannon bowl and it was fantastic. The fries were great and very unique I have never seen fry disks before. All in all will be back again, the staff are very sweet and kind people. Look forward to coming back!

Great salads and fish! Chicken tenders not tender, lol: too much breading. They have specials post on walk way, 1/2 sandwiches & chowder. Great chowder, no bacon just as it should be.

Claim chowder was amazing! Service was quick and attentive. The salad that came with my daughters meal was fresh and huge! They even had homemade croutons! Don't skip by this hole in the wall. They were ready to seat us immediately when other places had a 30 minute wait.

The clam chowder was absolutely amazing. The crabcakes are mostly onions (don’t recommend). The staff is very friendly. Great options for local beers and ciders. Cute location overlooking the ocean.

Rally enjoyed eating here with my coworkers for lunch. Staff was very nice, service great, and a good overall restaurant feel. Even though I didn't eat their seafood, I got their Rodeo Burger and was very satisfied with my choice and would happily return to enjoy more of what they have to offer. We were passing through this small town, we were pleasantly surprised by this place, the very friendly and familiar waiter makes you feel good. The food was very delicious and the price was quite reasonable, without a doubt I recommend it!

Beware the sea wich! Amazing food and atmosphere, waitress was kind and quick. Portions giant! Was not expecting such a giant sandwich. Chowder was excellent filled with juicy clams.

Short staffed and busy but that didn't stop Elizabeth from providing friendly service as she hopped from table to table. The food seemed a little pricey for what you got but it was good. The fish and chips was cooked well and it's a solid piece of fish. The clam chowder had nice chunks of meat! The scallops were not seasoned and a little greasy for our taste. The crab cakes were flavorful but had pieces of shell... At least they were fresh! 😁 Overall it was a good meal and we're happy we went!

Oh goodness! What a wonderful place! We ate here while shopping in Depot Bay. The foods was SO good! Service was beyond wonderful! Our 5 mo old grandson was NOT happy about much of anything :) and we were all just cold and hungry. The owner of the restaurant picked him up and entertained him with the train that makes loops around the restaurant, trinkets on the wall, and even sent him home with a train whistle! Talk about feeling loved on! THAT is customer service. What a sweet, family owned business! I love support local business #shoplocal and loved the atmosphere here. It's a MUST GO in my opinion! Besides...the chowder...OH MY!!!

I was speeches when eating my dinner; that is saying a lot because I am a loud mouth and don't know when to shut up. The cafe to start was very clean and organized. It had a very nice atmosphere to sit and eat. I recommend sitting next to the window because you have an awesome view of the ocean across the street. The cafe also had a lot of interesting artifacts to look at. Now, why I was speechless with the food. I had the crab melt with fries, and a cup of clam chowder. The melt was amazing! The toast was soft, but still had a crunch; nice and buttered. The crab was so tasty, fresh, and it was savory with the melted cheese; so warm. The fries were cooked well and were crispy. And the clam chowder was terrific because it was warm, and was full of delicious clams and potatoes! My wife let me eat some of her clam chowder bread bowl...WOW! The bread was toasted, but still so soft and sweet; the butter added just hyped it up. Then they smoother it with clam chowder which makes the bread even more soft. I was in heaven with the clam chowder! Our waitress was really friendly and polite. Made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Yes! Two thumbs way up, and I really recommend this place! Everything turned out great for my wife and I anniversary dinner!
