The gumbo is amazing! Collards are great! The fresh friend catfish melts in my mouth. And the fried okra makes me miss the South!

First, the food is excellent. Seriously good. It’s a bit pricey, but few things are reasonable in the Denver-metro area. The mains are cooked to order, so be prepared to wait 8-10 minutes for fish and 15-20 minutes for chicken; good time to catch up with friends. My only real complaint is the incredible amount of unreasonable plastic waste that could at least be recycled five minutes down the road. If I go back, I’d seriously consider bringing my own receptacle and request they put my food in it, or simply on a napkin if denied.

Loved this place! Being from the south, I had pretty low expectations that Colorado had anything resembling soul food but boy was I wrong. The fried okra and collard greens were amazing. If you’re not positive you hate those veggies, try them! They’ll change your view on them (and probably your life.) The fried chicken takes 15ish minutes because they drop it fresh and lemme tell you, it was worth the wait. Some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. The seafood gumbo was good. Not on par with the rest of the meal, but still tasty. The red beans and rice were also delicious. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating. Cannot recommend this place enough.

We stopped in for a quick bite before going to Sprouts. This is the best food in the neighborhood. We had a bit of everything: catfish, wings, fried chicken, collards and the Mac and cheese. It was all excellent. If this place was in a trendier part of town there would have been a wait and higher check. Great service too!

All of their food is so good. Highly recommended the catfish. Hello ya all!! Reminds me the east coast food. Flavors are delicious . Sweet potatoes, collard greens yum. Never trust ratings from others that don't leave why it was one or 2 stars! Everything is fresh so go early once they run out its to late but they are newly working out the kinks. Yes they do serve on Styrofoam but the food is so good doesn't matter. And you don't leave unsatisfied I always have plenty to take home

I really really love this place! My boyfriend saw the location in Aurora and always wanted to try it, and he found out there was one closer to the house and said we had to go. He was right, we needed to come here. When we walked in the woman greeted us right away and was super friendly. She didnt rush and made sure we knew what they had to serve. My boyfriend ordered a 3 piece with two sides and I got the 5 piece hot wing. Our chicken was all cooked fresh to order, and didnt take very long. She bagged everything up, threw in hot sauce, napkins, and forks. When we got in the car the food smelt so delicious and when we opened it at home it looked so good. Our food was the best, it reminded me of my grandmas home cooking. We definitely will be coming back, I highly recommend this place!!

Tucked in between a mattress store and a comic book shop, The Soul Kitchen is an unexpected surprise. While this location might not be the most modern restaurant in town, they serve some delicious soul food. We came here on a weekday evening to get some dinner to go. There's something for everyone on their vast menu, the portions are generous, and everything was very tasty. We were the only ones there, but their entrees are made fresh, so we had to wait a bit. To kill some time, we ventured over to the comic book store next door, only to find us locked out of The Soul Kitchen when we returned to pick up our meals. (Note to self: just wait in the store next time.) Overall, I think The Soul Kitchen is a great place to pop in when you want to leave the cooking to someone else. You won't be disappointed!

Came in with my boyfriend about an hour before close and was greeted by a lovely gentleman who took our order and explained that his front staff member had called in sick and he was there alone so it would be a little longer of a wait. We were happy to wait as this was our first time taking out from here and we were hungry but not starving. This man managed to make the most wonderful chicken, catfish, mac and cheese, red beans and rice, fried okra, and mashed potatoes by himself with a smile and an actual concern for how long we were waiting. He was apologetic, extremely nice, and made the wait and the food worth the trip. I was even going to take a photo to showcase how delicious the meal was, but ended up eating it too fast! Him and his hospitality are the reason we will be returning. Sometimes people are having a rough day and do everything they can to make it right for others, be kind to them.

Yu u ummm!!! They serve many of the foods we enjoyed growing up on the northeast side. Amazing cornbread, fried chicken, cabbage w/bacon and macaroni. We were there near closing time (7:00), but we still had freshly fried chicken. This isn't a fast food type restaurant. It's made to order. I'm assuming we met with one of the owners, but whoever this gentleman was, we appreciated his hospitality. Enjoy beer or drinks while waiting for your food - it's well worth the 20 or so minute wait. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu and will recommend to others.

Pretty normal looking spot, very clean. The food itself was pretty good as well. I don't recommend the porkchops as they were pretty dried out, but the catfish and okra was phenomenal! Will definitely be checking this place out again soon.
