One sec ...didn't realize I'm wearing my lunch droppings (crumbs).
Okay, here goes. I love this neighborhood. Most every house off of Colfax is manicured and in good taste. The houses appear to be 1930's/40's vintage with lots of character. DJs is no exception. It has more frontage however, lending itself to a broad patio out front. I imagine that's great for the morning brunch crowd.
Lunch on a Thursday (day of my visit) wasn't busy. Maybe 15 people occupied most of the center seating booths. I sat next to a window overlooking the shaded patio. Nice.
I had the French dip sandwich with potato salad and a diet coke. Looking over the menu, I was surprised that a breakfast/lunch only place had a full liquor selection. I guess some people here off east colfax could use a jolt of vodka in their espresso. Not one to judge, I ordered the sandwich and moved on. It took a while for my meal to arrive (15-20 minutes) which I thought was a bit excessive. It was definitely good and the Dijon in the potato salad was a nice surprise.
The interior of the restaurant is contemporary. I was hoping to see woodwork and craftsmanship but, that had been long gone apparently.
This place is definitely worth a try. The meal I had was a good value. They could have charged a couple more bucks and I would have been okay with that. Actually, I almost expected it to be more pricey. It wasn't a huge meal but it satisfied what I went in there for.
There is a very long coffee bar and maybe one day I'll stop by to try a cappuccino. Not today ....I gotta uber on.
Great place for breakfast! Awesome eggs benedict with crab cake. And my son ordered a bacon pancake with a sunny side up egg fried in the middle of a pancake!!! That was delish! We also had some morning cocktails and they were awesome. The staff is very friendly.
At the suggestion of a local chef, I ordered the corned beef hash. Excellent! Every other restaurant tries to fine-dice it like the stuff you buy in a can. This was rough cut, with ancho chile peppers, and was a large portion. The home fries are not to my liking...they are tiny cubes, deep-fried. Weird. Goat cheese omelet: tasty. Nice to have a new local breakfast joint, even though it's a little pricey.
Always so accommodating to our needs and crazy orders. Never much of a wait if there is a wait at all. Staff is so friendly, food is delicious and very generous. Only complaint is fruit smoothies. Wish they were made with frozen fruit and yogurt. They are just too sweet for my taste.
Had a great breakfast this morning. The chorizo breakfast stew was on point. I personally would have liked the floating bread to have lil more toast texture to hold up in the stew. But really no complaints, I had great experience! The Barista and staff was handling the mothers day rush like a pros. Cheers and can't wait to be back.
Great find! I had bagel and lox and my husband had a breakfast burrito with chorizo. There was so much meat, and very tasty. We hope they start doing a happy hour!
A great Berkeley establishment now in Park Hill. Awesome to have one so close now. Can't go wrong with breakfast burrito. Fast wifi also a bonus with a great counter. Friendly staff and quality food!
Great family restaurant in walking distance! Went for breakfast with a 3 year old and 9 month old and the staff was great and helpful. Could improve the hash browns but otherwise had a great meal.
Great place to eat, meet and work during the week. DJs has good food, great service, lots of space, wi-fi, and plugs - not to mention an outside deck (no plugs out there). I'm so glad DJs has come Park Hill! I frequent often and am never disappointed.
D-lish!!! Great staff too. We really need a brunch place and so happy it is so good. Don't miss the waffle
