Review Under The Umbrella Cafe And Bakery - Denver

I don't give many reviews, but this is legitimately one of my most favorite coffee shops. I get a coffee every day & do my best to support small businesses. I like UTU because: 1)they use Pablos Coffee (another one of my favorites) 2)they have 2 of my favorite syrups that most shops don't 3)they have some of the yummiest homemade foods/goods. *Best lemon bars I've ever had!!! (Not too sweet or bitter. Not a typical lemon bar & twice the size of most). I wish there was more outdoor seating (outdoor only establishment, but there is 1 bench at least while you wait) & a trash can closer by, but these things don't take away from the service or experience. The staff & other customers are always friendly too. Hopefully they'll have punch cards or something soon because I've been coming every day lately. Lol. I also wish they offered an even bigger size for iced drinks because I find myself drinking my Americano much faster than I usually do. Ha. Thank you UTU!!! 🙏💗🤤💖😇💝😎❣💎🌹

This lovely place is consistent and delicious! Friendly staff and look how cute....fresh made foods and baked goods, great coffee, tea, chai etc...!

UTU is on my way to work, I love grabbing a coffee and one of their awesome breakfast burritos (protip: always say yes to the salsa) once or twice a week. I usually can't finish the whole burrito in the morning and it MAKES MY DAY when I get hungry around lunchtime and remember I have half a burrito in the fridge. Good coffee good food and an excellent staff, I'm a big fan.

I live about 15 min walking distance from this cafe, so I decided to go for a stroll, grab lunch there, and maybe answer a few emails on my laptop. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is that it doesn’t say anywhere on their website that they’re takeout only. Google also still reflects that you can “dine in” here. So, I was a bit didappointed to find that I’d walked 15 minutes in the heat with my laptop only to grab my food and come back home. Had I known, I would have just jumped on a scooter, picked up food, and gone home without bringing my backpack. In any case, not a deal breaker–but perhaps that’s something small that could be improved on the website. As far as the food and drink: I got the chicken salad croissant and an iced chai–and both we’re wonderful! The chicken salad was some of the best I’ve had, and the croissant was the perfect texture and flavor. It was also a pretty big sandwich so I had no complaint about the price point. I’ll definitely stop back by to try their breakfast sandwiches and to get another iced chai!

Fantastic little hole in the wall that makes the neighborhood feel homey. Cherry and cream cheese croissants are fantastic, cinnamon rolls are fantastic, lemon bars are just sweet enough but not overly sweet. The lunch options are pretty good, and seem to slightly rotate for variety. The staff is very nice. They carry a great selection of Pablo's coffee.

We have been coming to Under the Umbrella Cafe for years, and decided to go this morning! We live about 30 minutes from there now, but it is totally worth the trip! Delicious flavored lattes and cold brews, and their bacon pesto croissant is soooo good!

I absolutely love this place. The drinks and pastries (including gluten-free!) and soups are awesome. The best part is the staff, they are all so friendly and kind. My dog also loves this place as they keep cute treats for the pups where you order. It’s also great that they have a walk up order window - really convenient

Wonderful neighborhood joint. We’re once a week regulars here. My wife loves their teas and their seasonal hot beverages. We usually share a bacon breakfast burrito. It’s always filled with big crispy pieces of bacon. How do they do that?! If we’re late and the bacon burritos are sold out you can totally depend on any of their breakfast sandwiches.

Unreal breakfast sandwiches; their bacon, egg, and cheese croissant is the perfect means to break your fast. Flakey, buttery croissant, moist and flavorful eggs, hardy bacon. If you are a breakfast sandwich connoisseur, give this place a chance. It won't disappoint.

Great little place to walk up and grab breakfast or lunch, and the people are friendly. Just be ready for a bit of a wait on weekend mornings, but it is worth it.

After living in Denver for some time, we finally found our favorite breakfast sandwich! Everything was fantastic- we will be back regularly!

Under the Umbrella used to be across 12th Avenue where The French Press is now. I have friends who enjoyed eating there, in the “old” place - including my wife. The new place is much smaller and operates take-out only through a take-out window. We recently has two breakfast burritos, both a bit smaller than is typical around town, just a bit, but very tasty and well-made nonetheless. Their cappuccino was quite good. OJ is only available in bottles, Nantucket Nectars. The staff were friendly and chipper. There are a great many pastries on offer that might tempt us next time. One other note: there is not, as far as I could see, any umbrella to be under! That seems like a mistake… Update: Okay, okay, I was just kidding about the umbrella! There is a beautiful graphic over the door (and elsewhere, in smaller versions) with an umbrella in a circle, very nice colors, very pleasingly made. A capable artist or graphic designer put it together, obviously. It's lovely. Chef Kat responded to my earlier review about the burritos, and she was exactly right. She wrote: “I like to say our burritos are big enough to get you going and not put you back to bed. I’m sure I’ve made thousands by now and I still love making them cuz they’re so dang good.” So true. Though a bit shorter than most, they are thick and full of flavorful ingredients. More than that, however, we have come to appreciate their croissant breakfast sandwiches. Appreciate isn't a strong enough word - we have come to delight in them! Simply made with eggs, cheese, sausage or bacon all on a fresh, lightly toasted croissant, these are the best breakfast sandwiches ever! So delicious! Better than any breakfast burrito, even. They come as bagels, too. That goes for the other croissants - chocolate, raspberry, almond. They are superb. So, yes, their pastries have tempted us, and they will tempt anyone. Chef Kat says they make all their menu items onsite, including all of the pastries. That must be a big part of their success. My wife and I have also begun to select take-out dishes from UTU for lunch or dinner. There is a variety of interesting sandwiches, soups, chilis, and other goods to be purchased. I was too quick to judge. This window-only eatery may be small, but it has a large presence in the neighborhood dining scene. Every dish they make is worth ordering, and eating, and then coming back for, again and. again!

This is, without a doubt, the most delicious bacon, egg and cheese on croissant I’ve ever had.

I love UTU! They've got multiple, delicious GF options available— The coffee cake and banana bread are especially delicious along with very tasty meals to warm up at home, soups, salads, creative coffee drinks, etc. Everyone working there is super sweet as well and all items are priced affordably. You can't go wrong :) 10/10

A real neighborhood cafe, comfortable seating, good food. I had a turkey sandwich that they customized for me by putting on a gluten-free corn tortilla and substituted cukes for onions - it was very good and I will definitely be going back any time I am in that area!
