I do not understand how this place has a lower rating. The food is incredible, the service is amazing, and the atmosphere is straight out of the South. It is exactly what you should expect from the name and advertising. They have taken the look and taste straight from Alabama and put it on Colfax. This is true Southern cooking! As someone born and raised in the South, this place really does remind me of home. Don't expect it to be fast, they take their time like most Southern places and get it right.
The service was great the guy was super nice! The inside was so nice and vintage it was cool looking at all the stuff in there. The Menu was super easy to read! I ordered 2 pork hot links which was super good they were big and cooked just like I like mines. I also ordered the 2 piece fried chicken leg and thigh with rice and gravy and collard greens and cornbread and banana pudding and red kool-aid! When I say the skin of the chicken was crispy 😋 the collard greens were seasoned just right the gravy also had flavor too and the cornbread was sweet just like I like it. The kool-aid was just the right amount of sweetness for my taste. Banana pudding was good almost like my grandmas!! I'm a southern women and when I tell you this right here hit the spot A++!! Most definitely will be back!! My friend ordered the fried catfish, collard greens, rice and gravy, peach cobbler, and cornbread.
I wanted Fried Chicken, so I came here and was tasty.
I think it's an old VI building.
Young, attentive friendly waitstaff.
This location on Chambers is better than the old one further east on Colfax.
Another great day in Denver. Had a very tasty early dinner at Southern Soul Food restaurant, Cora Fay's in Aurora. They were featured on Food Networks Drive Inns Diners and Dives with Guy Fieri. It's worth the 30-minute drive. Fried chicken made the way I remember growing up. Great veg sides, and super moist, fresh made cakes!
Pic with owner Ms. Priscilla. Check my FB post for pictures.
The peach cobbler 4/5 yum!
Yams 4.1/5 very good
Hush puppies 5/5 very delicious the breading taste like Funyuns to me! I love that lol
Mac and cheese-4/5 creamy yummy goodness
Chicken 3/5 chicken was actually very good but it wasn’t fresh but still very tasty .
Over all experience 5/5 I like the food and the service was great, this place isn’t far from work so I am fond of that.
I’ll definitely be back for more and when my family comes in from out of state I’ll be taking them here. Oh shout out to destiny very polite and nice!
Food was pretty good. Southern food is tricky because there are a lot of family recipes, not just one way to cook it. Overall this place is good. The sweet tea was good.
I ate at CoraFaye's Cafe with my family last week. The comfort food fed my soul, and we had great service! I will definitely return.
Look at the picture, nothing else to be said. But I’m gonna brag a little bit anyway well seasoned, well prepared, portions that make you feel like you are at Sunday dinner. Don’t sleep on this place. The food is amazing come put a little bit of the south in your mouth this place is where it’s at
My first visit. Such good food. I didn’t realize they close at 7pm on a Friday. I’m service would be better earlier in the day.
The food was flavorful, good portion, and very much to our liking. Support local.
*Updated Review: went back for the 2nd time today! Pork chops were cooked to perfection. Gravy is delicious & home cooked comfort food! Fried okra was seasoned & fried perfect. The CORNBREAD 🤤🤤🤤 is the best & nobody compares. . No pic, but last visit - Catfish was excellent & Mac n Chz was creamy, but not over the top. Highly recommend this restaurant 💙❕
