Review Falling Rock Taphouse - Denver

James Cadell
I don't drink, but went with friends. The beer selection is amazing, service is good and they have a really nice outside patio to enjoy. My friends know a ton about beer and the Falling Rock Tap has beers that you simply cannot find anywhere else. While I don't drink, they offered a fantastic root beer.

I've walked by this place several times, but never went in because it is always packed. We finally decided to go on a very quiet Monday evening when it wasn't crowded. We've been missing out! They have a very tasty menu, and a late menu that starts after 10 p.m. The mozzarella sticks are pepper jack and I cannot describe how incredibly delicious they are; huge, too! There are silly puns on the menu that were a hilarious touch. The beers on tap are such fantastic selections, and the bartender even recommends something based on your taste, if you're undecided. They have a downstairs area full of pool tables and other games; Including an outdoor patio. Looking forward to coming back.

We stumbled upon this place and were very glad we did. The hamburger was cooked great! We were very excited to find out that they had two different Chimay beers as it's very hard to find that brand around by us. Service was vantastic as well.

This is not a revelation or local secret, but Falling Rock is one of the best places downtown (and even in the greater metro area) to experience Denver's deep and varied beer culture. Extraordinary tap list, exceptionally well curated cellar, very good food menu, and more character then you can fit in four walls. Its "must go" destination reputation is well earned.

This was a really cool place. We tried several of the ciders and they were all good, her favorite was the Dry Dock Apricot Blond and Horse and Dragon Sad Panda Stout. For dinner we had the fried mushrooms first. Very flavorful, and the dips were really good. I had the wings, hot. I love hot food and have a good tolerance, there had a respectable amount of heat to them. It's a vinegar based hot sauce I think, rich flavor. My GF got the buffalo blue cheese chicken tender sandwich. It was delicious, but it was falling apart by the time we got it. In all we had a great time, I highly recommend checking it out.

I was very pleased by the selection of draught beers. I expected the usual selection of Colorado beers but was pleasantly surprised by the choices from California (Pliny the Elder specifically) and New Mexico (La Cumbre IPA). It's understandable why this bar would have a loyal following.

So much great beer to choose from, great food to match (try the buffalo salad), and friendly staff that know their stuff about beer. Haven't had a bad experience here and I've been many, many times!

Pretty good spot. The chicken tenders were a perfect portion and were great when mixed with ranch, ketchup, or mustard. The beers are good, but I got confused with their beer list. Lovely place nonetheless. Multiple areas within FRTH to enjoy a night out.

100 bottles of beer on the wall and then some! This place has a huge tap list and bar food type nosh. Great pregame spot to hit before seeing the Rockies!

Wanted to rate this as 5 star, and the ambience and everything does set bar for 5star, but the recommendation from bartender for best brewed beer at this place - just set the bar down, and hence 4 star Had a round the block lager over here - really nothing special about beer; but do catch the evening roar here - after the game, this place really lights up! Definitely a DO-NOT-MISS in Denver!!

I wanted to give this place 4-5 stars. The food was excellent, the decor was great, but our waiter was terrible. Our waiter ruined the experience. Probably one of the worst service experiences I have had in a long time. I get that Denver is a craft beer friendly town, I can appreciate that. However I don't always share the same enthusiasm for craft beers. I asked for a bud light without looking at the menu and the waiters response was a condescending "No." (SHORT PAUSE) I laughed under my breath thinking he was joking. He was not... "You picked the wrong place for that." Clearly i have offended this connoisseur of fine beer. I followed with a question... "OK, can you recommend another light beer?" He rattled off several craft beers and I chose one. Later I decided to puruse the extensive beer menu... nice selection... oh what's this!? COORS LIGHT. I see, Coors Light doesn't fit into the category of light beer similar to Bud Light. If it was an honest mistake I would have let it slide but his elitist, curt, attitude was so off-putting it ruined the excellent food. His terrible attitude continued throughout the meal. This was my first and last time at this establishment.

Absolutely the BEST meal I have ever eaten, anywhere. The service was impeccable. Our server was friendly and knew his menu, both food and beer. He made recommendations that were spot on. We are spicy garlic wings, pepper jack cheese sticks, southwestern burger and Falling Rock dip sandwich. It was all amazing. The atmosphere is a little upscale dive. It's the perfect setting for an awesome experience. We are only in Denver for a week, but, even with all the restaurants in town, will be back to try new foods and drinks.

Goddamnit this staff be expemt of all love for humanity, you can’t get shitty macro beers on tap, the food is worthy of taphouse so don’t order the filet mignon (it’s not dry aged).... you have to order by number, which is difficult and... just be blessed that you got the chance to drink in an original, a solemn temple of craft beer before its time... amen.

This place is beer nirvana!! One of the best collections of beers you’ll ever find. Great, friendly staff and good prices in a nice, laidback atmosphere. A MUST visit in the Denver beer scene.

The waiter was a hipster beer snob . The food and atmosphere along with a Ohio state football game made up for the hipster attitude. Meet some great Buckeye fans though pretty awesome.

A regular stop every time I come to Denver. Incredible beer List & THE place to go around GABF. I understand at peak service times serice may get a little crazy & you may get overrun. However, recently I went to get beers from the draft trailer on the patio. Both myself & other patrons tried to order beer only to get told by the two people staffing it they were busy doing other things & to come back. That’s not a great service model if the draft trailer has pressure & beer, all ready to go. Cleaning & other nuances don’t take two people. The main reason you don’t get 5 stars is this.

It's the best craft beer bar in America for a reason! Always awesome beers on tap and top notch food. If I'm in Denver, I go here. You should too, especially during GABF.

Incredible beer selection with a dive bar atmosphere. Knowledgeable bartenders. Only problem is that it's in bro central so a lot of the clientele that act like they haven't been to bars before. They took great care of my girl and I. Highly recommend.

Great place for a real craft beer on tap bar. Cool waitress who gave Jay a hard time, which he loved, and good food.

Stopped by on a recent trip to Denver. Loved the ambiance and the knowledge of the staff. The beer selection is awesome. We ordered a couple of apps as well and they were much better than your average pub food. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town.
