We were greeted at breakfast time with the friendliest of smiling faces, seated comfortably at a booth, and given menus. So many options that choosing was difficult! These folks really know how to prepare soft scrambled eggs! Their turkey sausage was delicious; best I've ever had at any restaurant! Our waiter was right on top of things, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive on our table conversation. Food perfectly prepared and served in a timely manner. All of it was served hot and fresh! I look forward to dining here again the next time I have occasion to be in this area!

Loved loved loved it- the ambience the service and the food.. Everything was great!! Obviously since this is known for brunches it will take some time to get a table but once you get it the service is really fast! we didnt have to wait too much, the drinks super yummy (creme brulee iced coffee) and food was delicious (night hawk omelette)..will definitely be visiting again!!

This local denton brunch spot is phenomenal for the price.
Huge portions of delicious food. I enjoyed the Rita's tacos with eggs, hash browns, jalapenos, salsa, queso, and sour cream. The chicken fried chicken was good fresh. I recommend splitting it so there are no leftovers. The french toast was a sweet treat to finish the meal. Not a huge fan of the hot chocolate, but the whip cream on top is heavenly.
Our waiter, lance, was polite, prompt, made great suggestions for our meal, and checked on us frequently. Made the experience so much better for our first time there.
I highly recommend trying this place for brunch if in Denton.

I ordered the Squatter and it was a perfect amount of food to start my day. Egg, bacon, french toast and a side. Everything was great and the french toast was delicious with fresh strawberries. This was my second visit here and won’t be my last.

If you leave this place hungry, it’s your own fault! Honestly, I have never seen as many choices of breakfast in my life—it can be a bit daunting. However, whatever you choose, it will be excellent, perfect temp, and served with efficiency.

Very Very over rated, had breakfast, only received one slice of toast with my eggs, 2 strips of bacon instead of the normal 4 ....the parking was terrible ...I would not go back ..not worth the wait and food!!!

I just love this place. They really know how to do breakfast right. I’ve been to so many of these cafes throughout Tarrant and Denton County and have never been disappointed. I always recommend Old West to all my friends and enemies. I stopped by last Tuesday and sat at a spot which looked directly into the room right outside the kitchen where the food came out. I tried an omelet that I haven’t ordered before, the Texas Phiily. Need I say it was marvelous? Three eggs lined with cooked Phiily steak, onions, peppers, jalapenos and cheese, with a small ramekin of salsa. Simply great. This came with two sides. I selected the seasoned hash browns and one of their fabulous biscuits. I was offered gravy for the biscuit, but I declined. I just wanted butter. They are THAT good. <br/><br/>The other time that I was here at the Denton Old West I had "The Rustler." It consisted of two eggs, in my case, scrambled; a hunk of ham; 2 enormous blueberry pancakes; and a side. I had hash browns again. There are about five or six types of pancakes to choose from. The blueberries are fresh. The pancakes are the size of dinner plates. I just needed one, but I somehow managed to scarf both of them down, being as fluffy as they were.<br/><br/>Service is always great; servers are always cheerful. Everyone seems to really enjoy working here. Invariably I end up tipping a little more because I leave Old West on an up note.<br/><br/>The place is always packed, and parking can be crazy although when I went last week I was able to pull right into a spot right in front. I understand that they are going to be moving soon to the old Black Eyed Pea restaurant off of 35E. That should ease the parking situation. You must give this place a try.

Lots to be aware of if you are considering visiting this establishment. Let's begin with what is typical and go from there. 1. Parking madness. If you find a space you will have to 'fight' over it. All the spaces are unmarked except of course the coveted 'handicapped' (aka a barely ambulatory self-caused obese person) spaces. The business surrounding the place have no MOU with the eatery (it is NOT a restaurant by any stretch of the imagination), and you WILL be towed if you stray into their lots. 2. Huge chaotic wait to be seated with clueless 'Texans' (who moved here in the 1950s and later - you are most assuredly NOT a Texan, no matter how hard you try with that F350 and that 300 lbs of excess weight you are toting ...) who do not know how to queue. 3. Crowded, mannerless tables. No elbow room, because 90% of the patrons are morbidly obese (this is a clinical fact and no exaggeration here), attracted no doubt by the HUGE portions they serve to folks that would never have survived a day in the real 'Old West.' They can barely make the walk back to their trucks. Watch them while you are waiting outside. It is comical. 4. You can not have anyone join you after you are seated, as this would take away precious 'space' from the other patrons who can't afford to have any reduction in their trough-feeding routine. 5. Loud. The noise is so powerful you can't have a conversation unless you join in the yelling, which is hard to believe until you realize they are all talking with food in their mouth, between bottom-feeder breaths. It seems people here may have forgotten the need to actually chew their food, or keep their mouth closed when masticating. Avoid this hyped-up dive unless you just want to brag that you went there, once ...

Old West has the best breakfast around. Huge portions. The wait staff is enthusiastic and incredibly efficient. Don't worry if there's a wait, they turn the place over pretty quickly and it's 100% worth the wait!

Stop here on the way back to Fort Worth for a quick bite. The wait was definitely worth it. We were served fairly quick once seated. Food was extremely fresh and delicious! I would recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a brunch spot!

What can I say . . .. My wife and I have been to this restaurant numerous times, frat food! Coffee is okay, but the food has always been delish! Just wish 2 things, that they'd be open for dinner and that there were more of these restaurants around!

Old West is my FAVORITE place to eat in Denton. Do not be fooled by the people waiting outside, the wait is never longer than 20 minutes. The food always comes out quickly and correctly. It is a little small, but that just adds to the "at home" feel

Amazing. I love Oldwest so much, I think I am there almost once a week. The food is amazing, definitely some out of the box thinking on some entrees. Some of my favorites are the Migas, Stagecoach, Spicy Panhandler and The Alamo. The turkey sausage they have, it is some of the best I have had. You can't go wrong with the omelets' they are also superb. You honestly can't go wrong with anything you may decide to order. Let me just warn you........ come with a big Texas appetite because these plates are not for the birds. Service is good, they all help each other out and big shout out to Patty she is awesome! The only downfall, the only one, the wait can be a little long and the parking can be difficult. But besides that this is a winner even with those 2 minor issues! I will continue to go! Oh ya the coffee it is so good!

Failed to meet my expectations. Nothing on the plate was really hot enough, just lukewarm. I waited 15 minutes for food to arrive after ordering so maybe the plate sat around in the kitchen for a while? Some of the egg white in the omelette was undercooked so it was watery and clear in places and most unappetizing. Grilled sourdough was served on same plate so ended up soggier than cereal in a bowl full of milk left on the counter all day. Portions were huge but I would have traded 50% of the quantity for 10% more quality. I left most of the food on my plate uneaten.<br/><br/>Coffee was inconsistent. First cup great, first refill pretty good but last cup tasted like a completely different brew.<br/><br/>Service was well-meaning and friendly but slow at times. Watch out if you are seated near the front door....the airscreen blower kicks on every time the front door is open and literally was blowing the napkin off my lap.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. The food and the waitress was great....but the host seating people down was horrible. We arrived at 11am and did not get seated down till 12:42 and many other people where being seated before us. She did not care and could of sat us down on a 4 top table and added a extra chair, but she did not offer that till I screamed and yelled to be seated. She lied and told me wait time was 30 mins and it was an hour and 42 minutes. Just because of the service I will never go back again and will suggest to everyone I know its horrible customer service. I did take care of my waitress and gave her a $20.00 tip merry christmas.

Only one in town. Wow Denton is a hard place to find a breakfast joint. They possibly don't need another one after going here. YUMI!! Wow what a pleasant surprise. We expected to wait in line, with it being Sunday morning, and we did but it was a short wait and orderly with a seating area on each entrance area of the restaurant. The restaurant has small tables and is very tightly packed, they could open a second location and still be packed.<br/> <br/>The menu is awesome everything looks good. The prices are easy to pay and the coffee is great. <br/>I got the simple Cowboy and James got the Big Bear. quick and fresh we were pleased.<br/><br/>Our waiter Tyler was fantastic and we can't wait to go back just to try some of the breakfast offerings. A few more visits and this one might be moved to our favorite list.

Tasty. long wait. dirty. but tasty.. Good breakfast. This place is ridiculously busy on Sat and Sun mornings and the waits are long. When I was there a year ago, the decor, tables, furnishings were very dusty and dingy. However, the food was very well prepared and friendly service.

I Really Want to Like This Place. There is a lot good about Old West Cafe. The food is good. The service is good. The parking is not so good. The coffee is absolutely awful. I would eat here at least once a week, but the coffee is weak, not very hot, and they probably have not thoroughly cleaned the coffee maker ever. I take my coffee hot and black. At Old West the best you get is very warm and dark brown.

Giant Portions, Great Food. My husband and I tried this place for the first time on a Monday morning, around 10:30am. It was busy, but not completely packed, so we didn't have to wait to get a seat. We ordered breakfast, and in case you're wondering -- the pancakes are HUGE. Even if you are a big eater, you will be impressed by the size of the pancakes, and they are super good. We each got a meal, he got a "Sombrero" 3-egg omelet and I got the "Cowpoke" which is a pretty good sampler of their breakfast items. We were stunned by how much food they gave us. We're average to light eaters at restaurants, and we could have both split his omelet and left completely full. So if you're a light eater, make sure to split your meal with someone, and beware the HUGE (delicious) pancakes! We're looking forward to our next trip there...

Yes - it is worth the wait. I don't know why I waited so long to try this place but I sure will be coming back. I took my kids there on a Saturday around 1pm. We were lucky to find a parking spot as the lot is small; there is parking allowed at the copy place next door on the weekends though. <br/><br/>There was a wait to be seated, which I expected. At least 10 people were waiting outside, and it took us 15 minutes to be seated, which didn't bother us. The food more than made up for it.<br/><br/>I knew when we walked in, we made a good decision to try this place. I could see great plates of food all around. The kids menu offered six choices, all under five dollars, which included the drink. My kids both chose the chocolate chip pancake, which came with an egg, meat (they chose bacon), and fresh fruit. The pancakes were regular-sized pancakes (not "kid" sized) -- in this case, "dinner plate" sized, not like small saucers seen at other restaurants. These pancakes were light and fluffy, baked and topped with chocolate chips, with the option of whipped cream and powdered sugar.<br/><br/>I chose the Cheyenne, which came with the cinnamon roll "french toast style". Different but delicious. The sides (ham, eggs, potatoes) were very good. I noticed other folks had hash browns, biscuits, etc. which also looked good. Based on other reviews, I tried the cinnamon multi-grain pancake. Awesome! Next time I will get more of these pancakes.<br/><br/>We all took home what was left of our meals - too much food to eat at once. In fact, it was the only meal I ate that day. I did not realize how full I was until driving away, ready to take a nap, even after 3 cups of coffee. <br/><br/>Our server was nice and attentive, even with the place so busy. A good place for families, college students, etc. You will not leave hungry!

Old West is well known for having the best breakfast in the Denton, TX area. Located off of Teasly and Dallas Dr., This quaint, old-fashioned restaurant will probably be stirring up traffic and causing a commotion in the streets. Unbelievable food, pleasant staff, and affordable prices, this café is a mouthwatering experience you won't want to miss. <br/> If you don't mind the noisy, chaotic restaurant scene, then Old West is just the place for you. Because of the delicious foods and great cooking, it's usually always packed (mostly on the weekends). There aren't many tables and even less parking spaces available, but this breakfast food is worth all the trouble of finding a spot and waiting a few minutes to be served. This is a sit-down restaurant of casual dining and table service. The cowboy, home-style theme could be described as 'Westward Ho' meets 'Home on the Range'. On the walls, you'll find cowboy boots with spurs, ten gallon hats, rattle snakes and cactuses and of course cowboys. Even if it might seem that Old west is filled to its capacity inside, it's always cheerful and bright. <br/> This local restaurant has lots of hearty breakfast choices to choose from and it's also very inexpensive. In my experience, I've never had to pay more than 10 dollars and I always leave feeling very satisfied and full. The menu is more like a novel; it can be a bit overwhelming at first because there are so many choices and so many different foods to try. They also have a special menu for kids served with a cowboy-coloring page and crayons. <br/> Everything is served exceedingly fast and the food always comes out steaming hot. The size of the portions that are served, are monumental. It's even hard to fit everyone's plates on the table. The buttermilk pancakes will melt in your mouth and the strawberry and cream stuffed French toast is so exquisite, you'll want to savor every last bit of it. They even have breakfast tacos prepared any way you like it and their cinnamon rolls are a nice gooey surprise. I try to be adventurous with the menu and order new things when I come in, but my usual meal includes two eggs over easy, juicy sausage, golden hash browns, sautéed and simmered to perfection, buttery wheat toast, and a pancake the size of a Frisbee, drizzled in maple syrup. If you're not into the greasy, buttery, sugary stuff, this place also has a healthier selection included in the menu. These foods are fewer calories, less fat, and less sugar. From home- style cooked oatmeal and spinach omelets, to fresh fruit, you'll always find something nutritious. No matter what kind of breakfast foods you prefer, Old West has many different options and there won't be a crumb left on your plate!<br/> The waiters are all very friendly and without fail, are there when you need them. It can sometimes get a little chaotic inside, but the wait staff is always smiling and ready to work. You can always count on having a full cup. The café is open every Monday through Saturday from 6 am till 2pm and every Sunday from 7 am till 2 pm. After your first visit to Old West, you can grab a punch card and after your 10th or so visit you get a free meal. This is a great promotion and it certainly encourages me to come back and eat again. <br/> To sum it all up, Old West Café has all the things you look for in a great restaurant: Incredible food, great staff, and very affordable. So saddle up, and come hungry to Old West Café!

Best breakfast in North Texas!. Man. I can't say how awesome Old West is. I am not a wait-er (in that I usually just won't wait in line to eat somewhere). Yet, there I am almost every weekend with my band of friends seeking to nurse our hangovers... waiting in line outside this little joint. There's your American classic breakfasts but also many unique items like the Cheyenne- a French toast battered cinnamon roll. There's also a great healthy choice menu, turkey sausage, homemade breads, chorizo, and Texican favorites (My favorite dish is breakfast quesadilla platter). Oh, and their lunches are great too (my favs: hand battered chicken strips and fried okra) It' so awesome. Skip Denny's, IHop, and even Waffle House. Get some fresh homemade breakfast at Old West!

OMG! The most amazing breakfast I have ever had! My mom and I found it on urban spoon and were so please with everything. The sourdough French toast is to die for and neither of us ever finish a full plate except we did today! The prices are great and our food came out in no time, i wll be back very soon!
