I love this place! I used to work in the Decatur area and this was my favorite lunch spot and still is. My usual is the baked chicken (dark meat) with mashed potatoes with gravy and mac and cheese. The sides come in half or full size, but I normally (and would suggest) get the full size. The people here are very friendly and it is nice to go somewhere you always see the same faces.

Great southern vegetables, best cream of spinach in the world. Huge corn bread pieces spicy and regular. Whole and half portions. ( quick update to a year old review. They no longer have half portions, which sucks. And unfortunately I was told that in a VERY! Rude way by a newer employe. It was nice to get a larger variety of veggies, with half portions) I do still recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Best place in town to get a meat and three. It's cheap and everything is homemade. It is so good. The cream corn and the meat loaf with chutney is out of this world!!! And they have hands down the best cobbler in the A!! Our way cafe you get my vote!?

I've been eating here steady since high school....and let me say: since the fire happened it just hasn't had the same good taste and feel it once did. I'm not sure what happened, but raising the prices of everything by $1 (sides included) really turned me off too. I don't like eating greens and such from a can at a premium price. I know not everything there is canned, but it looks and tastes like some sides definitely are. The three stars is simply because of respect...I once really adored the place, but now whenever my family suggests we eat here I don't look forward to it as much.

My husband and I ate here for lunch for the first time. I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and greens with cornbread. The meatloaf was the best part with good flavor. The mashed potatoes were tasteless and had no texture. The greens were sweet, which surprised me (I have always had spicy or savory greens). The cornbread was not fresh, almost rubbery. Unfortunately, I didn't feel like I got my money's worth ($22 for lunch for 2).

I am from the South and was raised in a kitchen with my grandmother. The food here is ALMOST as good as her's. The squash casserole is amazing and so was the meatloaf. The lady behind the counter was incredibly sweet. Will be a new staple when i am craving a meat and three.

My favorites are the sides: creamed spinach, squash casserole, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, broccoli rice casserole, cornbread. They rotate the menu throughout the month. Only problem I've ever had is their price increase. $10+ for veggie plate & tea (ouch). I'm not sure who gets the tip. It's self-service al the way. Hope it's the bus guys.
