Love this little joint. Great eats and engaging staff. A Decatur, must go-to place.

I don’t never give 5 stars for anything unless it meet my personal approval. First time eating at this restaurant. Didn’t know what to expect. Quite naturally it was busy. Just that alone tells you the food was good. I am all about service. I was told the wait was 15. Sure enough 15 mins I was seated. Place small but cozy. Wait staff very efficient. Ordered salmon croquettes. They came out much efficiency. Went down good with cheesy grits. I would dine there again.
Great food. Went with a large party so it was a long wait because the place was packed. Understandable though because my omelette was awesome and the sides of cheese grits and fruit were also good. There wasn’t many empty plates at our tables.

Tried this place two years ago and ended up going every morning it was so good... went back this year for a weekend and had to go back. Everything is always amazing and we had the same server who was still there and always fantastic! Worth the wait!
So many wonderful things to say - the service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Our server, Angel, and all the crew made sure we had everything we needed. We can't wait to come back to Decatur/Atlanta to eat here again!

Phenomenonal! Great, attentive staff and flavorful food! Why have I gone all these years not knowing of this place?! So glad to live local now; will be back!
My favorite breakfast place. Get there early on wkends, but it worth the wait.
Always love going to Sweet Melissa's. Go there every 6 months or so with my sweetie. I first discovered Sweet Melissa's after applying for a passport back in 2015, and since then keep going back. My sweetie and I even encouraged the family to eat together there, and everybody adored it. Thank you for such a happy family environment and delicious food.
Great food and great staff. I'll be back. Spinach and cheese omelet, cheese grits and a pancake were delicious.
We like to go for brunch on Sundays to see Magno play. The live music is great, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent.
Great food and service. I would recommend Sweet Melissa whole heartly.
I love the food, service and the dope atmosphere! The only thing that's a bit of a hassle is the parking but if you are just patient you can figure it out.
As always I love the food and the atmosphere there. One of my favorite places to go!!!!!!
I love coming here every time I visit Decatur. The staff is always nice and wonderful. The food is always exceptional!
The service was spectacular enjoyed the food tremendously
Was staying at the Marriott for business and found this gem just a short easy walk from their front door. I went back TWICE! Food was great, servers were fun, funky atmosphere and music were fantastic - servers all got down an shook thier money-makers when "Jungle Boogie" came on. Just what I needed to feel at home in another city. Homemade biscuit was fantastic amd they give you coffee and drinks to go too! Love love love!
Love the food !! Awesome atmosphere! it's a must you stop by
That shrimp and grits was amazing! Just like my Cajun granny used to make!
Very delicious egg white veggie omelette and fruit...nice quaint ambiance as well. Will definitely be back
Killer food, awesome service, rock star music! Yessss!
Ponce DE Leon omelet with side of grilled vegetables is the best!
Eggs, English muffin, and fruit. Delish! The coffee was great, too!
It was AMAZING!!! Great service and great food! The New Orleans omelet was awesome, the French toast delicious perfectly cooked, and the dani pancake was awesome!
This is the best breakfast I have ever had and the atmosphere is amazing. Love the bands on Sunday's.
My favorite morning place! The Staff is awesome and the owner is hands on with everything! You must eat here!
This restaurant will forever be on my brunch list as the quality has only gotten better throughout the years. Servers are attentive and i love how the owner is even on the floor helping out. She will even stop by and inquire about your experience. I’ve taken so many people to enjoy this spot although i kinda want it all to my self. The food is priced well and proportions are good. The omelettes can easily feed two people. It’s a small spot but gives an intimate feel so you’ll never get lost or forgotten.
This place is Sweet! Fast service delicious food and live music on Sundays. We will definitely be back. Coffee is great as per my husband! Lol
Sweet and helpful staff (even about parking!) and they help each other out. Excellent food with a healthful take available (food is not at salty as restaurant food usually is, real maple syrup is available, significant vegetarian options, & squeezed juice). They easily let you sub ingredients. Fast and friendly staff.

Service was prompt, efficient, and food was hot. Got there early and the place quickly filled up, especially since there is limited seating!
I truly enjoyed this place. Even though most in my group prefer later brunch, I don't. But given a crowded Sunday AM I think Sweet Melissa's did a damn good job. Except for the hostess's Auburn T-shirt. Really?
Came at 11 am on Saturday in the thick of the brunch traffic. Couldn't believe my good luck to find a table toward the back. I settled in thinking there would be a wait, but within 2 minutes was served coffee, within 5 minutes my order was taken and maybe 8 minutes later it arrived. The omelette proved to be a good choice paired with cheese grits and a walnut pancake. All was cooked and warm and just enough to make my morning. A great little diner!
Love this place!. I've been eating here once or twice a month for the past 10 years. Great staff and wonderful food. The live music on Sundays is a great way to wind down the weekend with friends and their excellent coffee!
You can brown bag. In case you want a bloody, a beer or cocktail. Nice folks. Nice menu. Nice taste.
Food was great. Breakfast burrito with homefries awesome! Blueberry pancakes very tasty. Plenty of food. Will come back.
Yummy. Great biscuits. I love the environment. I really enjoy eating outside when the weather is nice, enjoying a cup of coffee. Just so relaxing!
Good food, good location, okay decor. The potatoes are excellent as well as the pancakes, although mine were slightly burned. The cheese grits are good, the waitress informed us that the cheese is mixed in and not just sprinkled atop, so that was definitely an added bonus. The decor was a little undone, I felt. My date did point out to me that because we arrived rather late, close to their closing time, maybe the place didn't seem as alive as it could have been. I would eat here again, just a bit earlier next time.
The best breakfast in atlanta!!!. This is probably the best breakfast in Atlanta.
I loved Cresent Moon and was looking for a good replacement. I have found something better. Their food is amazing and the whole time I was eating all I could think about is how tasty and fresh it was. Its a little noisy in the place, but they could have split scalding hot coffee on me, but the food would have more then made up for that. Im not sure if this is common place for them, but they did have live music to drown out the noise from the open kitchen.
This place is a must try.
Sweet Breakfast!. Stopped by just as they opened on a cool sunny Sunday morning (one of the earliest on a Sunday morning in Decatur). This is "Downtown Decatur" at its best! Such a fantastic little southern town buried inside metro Atlanta! Sat out front enjoying the breeze, the dogwoods and ornamental cherry trees in bloom, listening to the birds chirp, watching the occasional jogger trot by. Are you getting the picture that this is a great place to sit outside and eat?
I had a respectable cup of coffee (or three) and the French Toast with a half side of turkey sausage. I really appreciated the heavy challah used for this. Nicely cooked, but not at all soggy or too "eggy". Very nicely done. The turkey sausage was tasty, but seemed a little more like a polish sausage... and I realize in hindsight that I probably needed a whole order... the half order is tiny.
All in all a GREAT place for a leisurely breakfast outside with a newspaper. Service was incredibly friendly and the right balance of enough attention and not too much. My impression about places like this in Decatur is that the bulk of their customers are locals so they treat everybody like their neighbor. Sweet!
I love the Allman Brothers -- and this place . . .. Yep -- there's something about this place on the square in Decatur. I'm partial to Decatur, truth be told, and Sweet Melissa's personifies the "vibe" in Decatur. Kind of edgy yet quite casual . . . laid back and "crunchy/granola" . . . comfortable and welcoming.
Don't get me wrong -- the food's good too. But it's really more about the atmosphere at Sweet Melissa's. The wait staff have such wonderful and accommodating attitudes. They work together quite well as a team and it's obvious to the patrons. When there's live music, it's complimentary to the aura of the place. I go in with my two young children and if there's a mishap or some inevitable loudness from them, there are no looks of disapproval or "shut them up" stares. I like how accepting the people and place are.
Omelettes are good, the kid's menu is good (my girls like the french toast the best) and the coffee's delicious.
Seat yourself and join in the fun . . .
Choosing a restaurant in Decatur is tough. In a small area, there are a half dozen places that could make me feel happy and full. Just walk past the array of them and the aromas will drive you to open a door and order. Today, I chose Sweet Melissa's. When
This place is really good. Went on a Wednesday morning for breakfast and was not disappointed. The hot chocolate was really creamy and delicious - you could taste the high quality ingredients. I loved how the cocoa drips down the side due to the weight of the whipped cream (which they give you plenty of). This made the cocoa more of an experience than just a drink in my opinion. My sausage bowl was a little bland but some salsa gave it the kick it needed. My cheese grits were really, really good (it rivals the flying biscuit’s). Hubby enjoyed his rancheros immensely. The food portion is ridiculously large - you can easily split the dishes with another person. Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend to others.
Get there early because there is a wait but it's well worth it. It's not just the food that creates the experience it's the customer service as well. The staff had great energy, always checking on us to make sure we were ok, and the food was exceptionally good. I highly recommend it here and encourage you to wait because it's well worth it.
Wonderful and kind staff. Hot and fresh inhouse made food. The decor was definitely neat. This place is a small joint but a pleasant surprise. Perfect for a lunch date or random stop. Great music and all of the food coming out looked delicious. Prices are fair for the freshness and made in house. Two bathrooms that were clean and had nice toilet paper...not the cheap toilet paper. Def will return if i come back.
Pleasant and laid back. They were VERY busy so I didn't complain about my food being cold. The waitresses worked together to get drinks and orders out; major plus. I would recommend visiting 👍🏾
Sweet Melissa's has the artistic flare, professional staff, EXCELLENT FOOD, and an environment that reminds you of 'home' if cultural experiences are a point of inspiration for you. My sweetheart and I have been frequenting this restaurant over the past few years and the 'Team Serving' experience is one that NEVER let's us down. Since I like to experience a place several times before reviewing - IT IS TIME!!! First of all Lee, Divinity, Jordan, Ella, and Maggie were an exceptional team. Let me 1st say that the waiting list may be long but play a game on your phone, call a cousin you haven't spoken to in a while, keep yourself busy because that wait is WORTH IT!!! Within 30 seconds of seating us, a member of the team took our drink order, back in at least 2 minutes with fresh hot ☕! We were not ready to order at the moment. . .5 more minutes for us to figure it out but you would think that someone watched us sit the menus down... Immediately took our order. About 10-15 minutes later, the orders we were salivating about showed up. Filled up coffee before we could even think to ask. We refused to leave food on the plates 'togo' coffees were already in tow. Each staff member throughout our experience was thorough, patient, and professional. They treated us as though we were the only guests in the restaurant and I love that the team is diverse ethnically and culturally. There was a 30 minute wait and every table was full but somehow, it never showed. I don't know what they are doing at SWEET MELISSA'S but we love everything about it! I cannot wait til next time! We ordered omelets (1 shrimp and 1 festive/don't remember name), french toast, cheese grits, fruit bowl. We even recommended the introduction of a pineapple upside down french toast because of how fresh the fruit was. We split omelets, etc as usual and that food was soo well made and soo delicious. . . GOODNESS! All I can say people is - Sweet Melissa's is DA TRUTH!! Definitely WORTH THE WAIT!!!
This is my favorite breakfast food place in Decatur, tho they offer a much broader menu. The staff is great and the food is very good. I lean toward the special or an omelet with a pancake and grits. Does have the best fruit cup in Decatur.
We came for a Sunday branch to this historic place and wasn’t disappointed. The staff was friendly; the service was quick (considering the number of patrons); the food was delicious and the portions were generous. We were seated next to the stage where musicians were prepping for the performance and were hesitant for that spot. However, the sound level was pretty tolerable, the choice of musical pieces was appropriate, and professionalism of musicians was obvious.
