Gabriel was very kind along with our server Heidi who gave us excellent suggestions. I was surprised the chips and salsa were not complimentary but I guess all the squeeze bottle salsa’s are. The drinks and tacos were delicious. This is a nice restaurant for an occasional visit.

So I’m a food blogger, and typically you just see them posting positive reviews. I’m more about honestly so I’m going to let you guys know what exactly happened.
My friends and I decided to visit Mcantina because of the hype, however, It did not live up to the hype after all. First, let's start off with the reservations. This restaurant only does reservations and no walk-ins. a $20 deposit per person will be charged if we cancel the reservation. We made a reservation for five people, but their tables only seat 4 people, and if we added a chair, it would be in the way because it was right by the door. So we were relocated to the garage, which was a pretty nice vibe.
Typically at Mexican restaurants, there would be complimentary chips and salsa, but this is the first Mexican restaurant that I've been to that didn't offer that option. They said it was because they were an “upscale” restaurant, but it really wasn’t an upscale restaurant.
My friend wanted some hot water, with a slice of lime. When she got her bill, she was shocked that they charged her for tea because apparently hot water and a slice of lime were considered lime tea. So, she paid $2.50 for some hot water and a slice of lime.
After we placed the order, the food took about an hour to arrive. We didn't realize that it would take an hour to make some tacos. We expressed our concerns about the wait and the waitress said, “here's a free appetizer since you guys were whining”. Never in my life, have I been so rudely spoken to.
Although the presentation was good, the food was lacking. I was told that the fried fish tacos were a fan favorite, however, it tasted like they pulled it out of the freezer and threw it in the fryer. And we let the waitress know that we didn’t like it, all she said was that everyone else that ordered that loved it. The one other person that ordered it…
We were really disappointed by the quality of the food. The cost for three tacos can cost anywhere between $15-$90, depending on the meat. I wish the food would have tasted as good as it looked.
This was just the worst customer service that I’ve experienced at restaurants, and l needed speak out about it. I would honestly not recommend this place, but hopefully management fixes the issue.

I ordered the roasted duck taco with a side of rice and beans. The duck was dry with a tough texture and the rice and beans were a bit small for $6 not to mention the beans had way too much salt to the point where I made my wife & kids try it just to make sure my tastebuds weren’t going crazy. Definitely not worth $30, save yourself from getting ripped off portion wise.

We are always well taken care of and the menu is delicious. Cocktails are top shelf quality and the food is exceptional. This restaurant is a hidden gem in my book.

One of my favorite places to go to! Last time I went it was 2 weeks ago. We ordered shrimp and chicken tacos and the chips combo and they were great. We also got the pineapple margaritas (non-alcoholic) and it was really good. All meat is halal which is always a plus. Their sauces are amazing! Definitely makes the experience better.
You have to reserve ahead of time to get a table or you will be seated at the bar. The waitress was super friendly and understanding. She made the experience even better! I would highly recommend.

This was an exceptional and authentic experience of gourmet Mexican cuisine. I will definitely be returning. The ambiance presented a beautiful representation of Mexican culture. The staff were very friendly, polite and accommodating. The presentation was artistic, elegant and refined.

I’ll be totally honest, I have given this place multiple chances, and multiple chances too many. The very first time I ever called, I got the most rude response until she found out I had never been there before and that turned quick. The second time, we reserved for a certain time and “tried” to contact us to cancel our reservation cause they didn’t have enough staff. We didn’t get the notification and she was SO rude when we walked in that once she sat us we decided to just get up and leave. The third time, we made a reservation for 2 adults and 1 kid. Not realizing it now is for 18 and up.
So they don’t have staff? Have to limit seating because no staff. And now they don’t allow kids? Can anyone go in there anymore? So now I’ll never go in because now I need a babysitter. The one star is for the food but yeah not worth the hassle or my time. Lots of other places have great service and great food.

Chef and his wife could not have been any more welcoming or helpful. We enjoyed our chips and all the condiments immensely, and had fun sampling all the squeeze bottles of sauces. The street corn was fantastic as were the fajita bites. And how could I forget my Hawaiian Lava cocktail? It was delicious. We shared the surf and turf tacos and loved them. Had a great conversation with Chef about his vision for his dishes and his respect for his central Mexican heritage and the flavors he uses. Our only regret is we were too full for dessert. We’ll definitely go back when we visit from Ontario again.
