I’ve been coming here for 4 years. The Pub is cozy and have a lovely staff. The food is Amazing! If you like Oysters, this place is a must. The lobster blt and french fries are to die for! I highly recommend this place.
Another great meal last night. Love the whole place but the lower bar is the best and the staff, food are top notch!!! Thanks again Tina for a good night!! My favorite place in Maine!
Friendly staff. Worked to get us seated as quickly as possible even though we didn’t have reservations. Service was amazing (Amanda was our server). Had drinks quickly on the table & got our food ordered. Food was amazing. Had the most delicious Maine oysters, crab cakes, seafood stew, & mussels. Truly 5 Star experience & even got handshake & thank you from manager as we were leaving.
Well, according to Facebook, was just at King Eider's Pub, Unfortunately, I wasen't there yesterday/ I was there during the Great Pumpkin Regatta of 2017. drinking probably, oe of the best Bloody May's I have ever had, while eating the most authentic Bangers and Mash this side of the Pond.
If there is one place you want to go in Damerscotta, this is the place. If not for the food and drink, for the people.
Next year at the Even greater, Prumpkin Regatta of 2018( And I will be there), you will find me here, drinking another great Bloody Mary while eating my Bangers and Mash.
Thank you again King Eider's for a fantastic day staying dry while the parade went by.
We stopped in on Friday night and ate in the bar. Love the atmosphere there. Enjoyed fresh Damariscotta oysters, the crab burger and the chicken pot pie. Friendly and attentive staff took good care of us. The Eider is a regular stop for when we bring friends for a night out on the town.
Always a favorite of ours. Had our anniversary lunch here today and even though the place was completely filled we were seated quickly. Best drinks, best food, great atmosphere. Go there soon! I know we will!

Beer was cold food was great, server was friendly only minor negative little too expensive for pub food but least it was excellent 😬
Been coming here now for 14 years! Great food, wonderful staff, love the special features and events. You never leave hungry!
Food was outstanding. I had the BBQ salmon which was really good. Chocolate Mousse was excellent as well. Our server was wonderful. Great seafood options. Definitely worth eating here. Good food costs money but it's worth it.
Our group had oysters on the half shell, scallops wrapped in bacon, haddock chowder, prime rib, berry salad with haddock, crabcake, chocolate mousse, and fish and chips. The only thing that wasn't great was the crabcake. The rest was super.
Excellent restaurant. I wish I could remember our services name but she was wonderful. Five starts all around - we started out with the green bean appetizer and a dozen oysters - there was not a green bean left on the plate.
We then ordered the roasted oysters and chicken wings with sides of their sauces. All were excellent. Our server made it the best experience. We highly suggest
Nice pub in middle of Damariscotta, great food, staff, atmosphere .voted best in Maine many times..I can see why. The Blueberry honey wings where exquisite, the Eider Dip duck sandwich wow, the bloody Mary with a side of 3 local raw oysters.. oh my. But my absolute favorite was the Barbecue pub fries with the Ranch, I will dream about that dish for a long time... my wife said the draft cider was great too..
Holy moly. Food was phenomenal. Staff was not just quick, friendly, and knowledgeable but they were so in sync it was very cool. Atmosphere even on a rainy day was upbeat and homey, great music playing in the background and OMG I will dream about this cupcake until the next visit. Quite possible, the best desert of All Time. Pictured in pieces below because there was no waiting to dive in.
OMG! I needed a wheelbarrow to leave when I was done eating - I was so full! (LOL). Seriously though, great food, great staff (Especially Cathi A.), great atmosphere. I typically get gift cards for a local couple who live in Damariscotta, as they enjoy eating there as well. This was actually my first time in there, and I can tell you, I will definitely be back next time I am in town!
The atmosphere and service is unbeatable, and the food is excellent to match. I had the biggest oysters I've ever had, and they have a great special where you get three with a beer. The lobster dinner is a must, with mussels and fries and slaw. The schooners on the ceiling adds to the cozy, friendly ambience. A must visit!
We had spent the day touring the Maine Oyster Trail, and, honestly, we questioned our desire to eat any more. At the advice of Steve, our host at Hawks House, we made a reservation and decided to go for something on the light side before calling it a day. We're so glad we did. We enjoyed a plate of mussels that were plump and cooked to perfection: the broth was exquisite, the accompanying bread perfect. We followed by sharing crab cakes that were quite good and nicely presented, as well as a salad. The atmosphere was wonderful, as people got together to share their friendship. Our waitress was accommodating and professional. Altogether a most pleasant evening.
Excellent food. I am vegan and they had a wonderful vegan appetizer and entree. It was falafel balls and then black bean and quinoa cakes on top of sauted mushrooms onions squash and spinach with some red peppers. On the side was some roasted beets of different colors. My dining companions had lobster with a generous serving of mussels.
Update 7/17- still wonderful food and service. Had a beyond burger with mushrooms and onions and it was cooked perfectly. My family enjoyed their food as well..
Entering is a bit tight and confusing as to where to wait for a table, but what can you do in old buildings :) It's worth the confusion ...
We sat in the lower bar at a booth and the bartender who took care of us was excellent. I ordered a burger and it was good; my family ordered crab cakes and salmon and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal.
The atmosphere was quiet for lunch, but the place had some cool decor.
There were some flies that were annoying (most likely because we were close to the door) and under our table, my foot kept hitting a piece of paneling that was coming off of the wall so it may need a bit of TLC. Overall though an excellent find with good food.
Lovely meal in a very busy pub
Service was excellent
Food superb
Great choice of beer
One of the nicest meals we've had on our trip
Had steak - very tender
Bangers and mash - lovely taste
Pretzel - superb
No room for dessert
Highly recommended
Best fish and chips I've ever had. All four components spot on. Pumpkin cheesecake was a big hit.
Note: The side door is no longer available for people who can't do the stairs. However, the staff (and other patrons) were friendly and patient with the elderly member of our party who had a lot of difficulty navigating the stairs.
Delicious food. Wonderful service by Brittany. Thanks for being open year round!
OMG this place is awesome. Everything looks amazing. The fries are out of this world. The best I have ever had. My wife’s crab burger was fantastic. The best crab cake I have ever had. My lobster salad was truly delicious. The blueberry vinaigrette was amazing. My Citizens Dirty Mayor cider on tap was perfect pairing for my meal. The appetizer was also fantastic. We had the honey Brie included pineapple, apples, oranges, cantaloupe, honey dew, grapes and blueberries with strawberries. I can’t imagine anything bad here. You need to stop every time you can. I will be back often.
We came for the whiskey and stayed for the food. My burger was really good, cooked to specifications exactly. My husband ordered the steak and ale pie. He loved the tender meat and hearty portion but was not really impressed by the hard crust. I had one of the best mojitos ever. Our service was spot on attentiveness. We would definitely come again.

Arrived mid-afternoon on a busy Saturday; received a friendly greeting and were seated as soon as a table was cleared. Our party of four enjoyed raw and skillet baked oysters and crab cakes. Our server was friendly and attentive without interrupting.
Skillet roasted oysters were the best cooked oysters I've had. Cocktails and drinks were all great. Good selection. The food was great all over. Both indoor and outdoor seating. 10/10, will be back next summer on the annual Maine trip.
