I wish I can rate this place higher than 5 star! We've been around all a cross the States and had all types of food. In fact My husband is a chef him self. But This place was one of a kind. This place was nice and clean. The ambiance was contemporary fits perfectly in the heart of Deep Elum. The price was reasonable. And best of all Food was right on point! We enjoyed their burgers and the mix platter. Their salad that comes with the mix platter was quite different. Little spicy yet has a kick to it. Overall the service was great the owner was friendly. Great place to eat out! A definite Try. Next time we in town we look forward to eating here again.
Mixed platter, no salad, extra meat is LEGIT!!! Get a side of Aloo and you’ve got an amazingly hearty winter meal to keep you satisfied and toasty warm. Definitely like this place better than Halal Guys and I love everyone who works there. Do not sleep on this place
First time in. Walking in the vibe was awesome, great music 🎶, and the guy at registrar SUPER great. Explained the menu, very helpful. Food was quick and So so fresh. My new favorite place. All Halal and so very delicious. Prices are truly amazing, so affordable. I had to take my food to go cause I couldn't finish it but was so tempted to but another bowl for the week. Thank you for the experience.
Cons: have to pay for parking behind building is 20$. If you get a meter in front you're lucky. Be prepared for the homeless activity around the area. This is common on Deep Elm Area.
So good. I got in late evening for a business trip dying for some fresh warm food. I got the beef and lamb gyro platter and it did not disappoint. Meal was top quality in every way and the sauces were both so good. Super friendly and prompt service by the gentleman running the register. The atmosphere was chill with good vibes.
It's like a premium version of Halal Guys, $12+tax for a rice/meat bowl, with generous amount of beef/lamb gyro meat. Staff brought complimentary homemade dipping sauce to my table. Only suggestion is to put a Halal sign in front because I walked by dozens of times without realizing it's a Halal restaurant. Halal meat is divine
Definitely a must try. The food is outstanding with great portion sizes. I’ve come here over a dozen times and the food is always fresh. I get the NY Chicken bowl with everything and my spouse gets the beef and lamb with the fries. One of my top 5 places to eat in the DFW!
Great late night joint hit the spot and the price was nice.
The Halal Guys but 2x BETTER
If you’re into Mediterranean, shawarma, or gyros; this place is meant for you.
The gyro and chicken are nicely seasoned with a pleasing taste. The sauces aren’t overpowering and give a balance between dry and soggy. I’ve had halal guys from Cali, NY, and Texas but this place beats them all.
Food 9/10
Service 8/10
Place 6/10
My first experience with Big Guys... and they knocked it out of the park! I ordered the chicken on rice. I love the spice level... medium hot. (I love it hot!) The seasoning was unknown to me, and I love it! Very tasty and tender small chunks of chicken on a bed of super-long-grain rice. Mildly seasoned, the rice made a tasty accompaniment to the spicy chicken. The lettuce and tomato were fresh. I poured myself a glass from my trusty screwtop bottle of Pinot grigio... perfectly matched. The portion was very generous. A thrifty person could easily have made two meals out of it. (Oh, wait... I was supposed to eat it all, wasn't I?)
The cheesecake: Apparently factory-made (probably in Dallas), it filled the bill as a tasty slice of plain American cheesecake. I made a cup of instant black coffee to go with it.
I may not have a lot, but I enjoy what I have.
NOTE ABOUT GRUBHUB: They may have delivered my meal within the ETA. I don't know. They didn't call, as I instructed, didn't text... didn't even knock. It sat outside in 55° weather for ~10-15 minutes, probably. I'm treating this one as an anomaly.
EDIT 3/16/22: Ordered the same thing through GrubHub. I'm still astounded by the yummy flavor of this otherwise simple chicken and rice dish. And, my taut belly is testament to the adequate volume of delicious food. I got another picture.
The food taste great and the service is quick and professional. The menu isn't extensive, but I've never had a bad item. The jalapeño poppers are top notch as are the gyros. Careful with to go orders--the wrapping and bagging isn't very delicate or intentional, so you may end up with a bag full of sauce as have multiple times. (jalapeño poppers and combo gyro pictured)
Best halal! And the owner was so incredibly sweet. The first time we met them was at a festival and he invited us over because they had just opened. We will drive 25min just for them.
This is a good cheap option for lunch. The place itself is very small and the decor is low-cost.
The portion of the warps is small but the price is reasonable. If I come again I will probably order two warps instead of one.
Service was slow and unorganized, but helpful and kind.
