The Black Critic Reviews
The food here is 5 star. I have eaten at various Chinese bistros throughout the US. Cafe Hunan is by far the best. The sweet, spice, crunch, savor, and tenderness of the meat is all there! The food is always hot, never cold. I love it. The environment isn’t loud so I’m about to eat and work from here. I find myself in awe and expressing excitement after every bite. A little pricey but it’s worth it.
This is my second time coming to Cafe Hunan. The community is safe and is in a bustling area. I haven’t had any issues finding parking and the building, and its features are always clean. The older woman floating between the kitchen and cash register is such a darling, I wish she was officially apart of my family. She makes guests feel welcomed and prioritized.

We were very happily pleased to stop here for dinner!!! Wow everything we got was really good. The general tsao was delicious, and my chicken lo mein was also tasty. The chicken and vegetables dumplings were awesome. Will definitely be back. Atmosphere is very chill. We brought a bottle of wine, there is no alcohol served here. Seems like a pretty busy place, especially with SMU students.

Last nite was my first time going to this spot and it was the best decision of the day! The food was amazingly delicious and I can say best Chinese food I've ever had I must say and I love Chinese food. The Mongolian pork has the red rings on it. The egg rolls are to die for and the staff is friendly. The place is so clean and welcoming. I will be eating Chinese food from this place from now on. Keep up the good work and I will refer other to this place .

The food is cooked made to order and is piping hot everything I come here. It’s a bit overpriced for a Chinese joint but the quality is worth it and the portions are huge. Definitely enough to take home and reheat later. Park along the curb on Warcola St. was easy access.

Man this place is good! For a casual place they are serving some of the best Chinese (American style) that I have ever had. The Crab Rangoon’s are the best I have ever had and the Pepper shrimp appetizer was beyond good. Everything we had was loved and the portions are big. We’ll be back!

Went to Hunan Cafe for lunch and was thoroughly impressed. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The wonton soup was full of flavor and the wonton were some of the best I've had. The pork lo mein was fresh and flavorful and the pork was excellent. The hunan stir fry was beyond delicious and the jasmine rice was outstanding. Staff was super friendly and took care of us. Hidden gem of a Chinese restaurant and can't wait to go back.

Surprisingly good. Casual sit down for classic Chinese. Egg rolls were excellent. The brown sauce for the chicken and broccoli was great, and the sesame chicken was outstanding. Will definitely return

I underestimated this place. I thought it was going to be like Panda Express but boy was I wrong. All homemade and delicious. The lettuce cups are fantastic and so was the sweet & sour chic. Can wait to come back and try something else. Don’t skip on this place.

My husband, Bill Russo, works near Cafe Hunan and eats there at least once a week and is never disappointed. The food is delicious, the meat is top class and tender, and the service is excellent and friendly. The portions are large and nobody leaves still hungry. His group of fellow diners are also fans and frequent this restaurant. Highly recommend and feel confident you will enjoy it, too.

What a great Chinese Hunan Bistro. My wife and I were over by SMU and saw this corner Chinese food restaurant on SMU Blvd. We stopped in and were we impressed! The open kitchen is what first caught my eye! Freshly prepared food where you can see the chef cooking in the woks! The smells were wonderful. The menu was a classic array of Chinese dishes that all sounded appealing. I ordered some eggdrop soup and a pork egg roll to start. The soup had a thick base and was full of egg. The egg roll was one of the best I dad ever eaten. For my main dish, I ordered Hunan Chicken (spicy) and some combination fried rice. The rich Hunan sauce was superb. The flavor was spot on with all the wonder vegetables. The fried rice was great as well. The pork in the rice was cooked very well and tasted good. My wife ordered the chicken fried rice.
One thing we noticed is that they used a great white meat chicken, instead if dark meat like most restaurants do to save on cost. The dishwear they chose was unique in the fact that itvis stainless steel instead of some regular plastic plate or bowl. The restaurant was clean inside. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Hunan Cafe!

Hard to pick a favorite but the sesame chicken is so tender and the sauce is tangy so it’s beyond yummy. The melt-in-your-mouth Mongolian Beef was a big favorite too with our group while we celebrated (pretty place was perfect for our photos) before we headed to SMU.

Super good! Fresh ingredients, competent chef, and beautiful atmosphere. Had the orange beef and crab rangoon. It was great! Will definitely be back here

The dining atmosphere was pleasant, the staff were warm and friendly, and the food was really really delectable.
We ordered a wonton noodle soup - the serving was huge, with generous portions of wonton, char siew meat, and big-sized fresh succulent peeled prawns. We also ordered a chicken fried rice, which visibly had quite a lot of eggs, was fried to perfection, with the rice clearly defined - not too mushy, yet not overly dry - and it included the smell and taste of the wok.
The owner, Mark, was hanging around, and we had a short nice conversation as well. He obviously takes pride in the quality of his ingredients, and it clearly shows in the food we ordered. Also sensed from our brief time there that his staff are happy working there. A pity we forgot to take pictures while we were there.
In conclusion, you must visit Cafe Hunan if you haven't! It's one of the most impressionable cafes we have been to at DFW so far.

Order the seasame chicken, fried rice and Wontons. Everything was really good, but the rice was just okay. The dinner portions were insane, I was able to make have for lunch and dinner the next day
