Have never been in the area in my life; but on a Sunday, the smallish parking lot was packed - that told me what I needed to know. Made a U at the KFC and went back. 'Downhome place' serving all manner of home-prepared favorites like greens and beans - I had the brisket sammach. Ordered it on the lean side (for the ole ticker) which usually means 'dry as dust' as BBQ goes. OMG - tender as sirloin! Probably the best brisket I've ever eaten. Homemade sauce was just saucy enough w/o overpowering the meat...a little thin, but a great complement to the beef. Can't wait until I'm down that way again!
Look don't go there looking for a friendly atmosphere. Unless you're a regular you won't get anything but a stare as you order and your number yelled out when it's ready. I've been going there since I was a kid and now I'm in my 50s. The family there is kind and gracious to their regulars. But you not coming here for ambiance, you're here for the BBQ and boy is it fantastic. Brisket, ribs, links, giant baked potatoes can not be beat. You want a taste of good old fashioned soul food come by during lunch or Sundays after church. You'll have a wait, but boy howdy is it worth it. Oxtails, pork steak, neck bones, greens, mac and cheese and the list goes on and on. Everything is reasonably priced especially considering the portions. Going back to the BBQ it comes in a delicious sauce that is great for dipping white bread in, but if you like tell them you want the sauce on the side. For those who are adventurous ask them to make it hot or if it's to go ask for some of their hot sauce to go. It is a trancendental experience.
SUPER STUFFED BAKED POTATO. Enough said. Going back today for some greens and barbque. The staff was friendly and had me cracking up!
(singing ) la la lala la..we got a odom's, we got a odom's...in waxahachie, in waxahachie....& they're delicious & they're delicious ...la la lala
Sliced beef and sliced rib sandwich to go is what I got for lunch: $6 each, I was in the mood to sample meats and nothing else. I got the sandwiches for a reason: the bread can soak up the obligatory sauce they add, and I can then enjoy the meats on the dry side. Tip worked well. The sliced beef was tasty though light on smoke: not over cooked and was a joy to bite into and chew. The ribs appear to be the better deal if you want more meat: three meaty ribs cut in half, bone in, were good and smokey and not overdone (AKA fall off the bone was not how they were presented). The place is dumpy but somehow not offensive: the staff at the counter appear to lack charm but are efficient at what they do. Word of warning: they use sliced white bread in their sandwiches, no buns, if that is important to you.
No 3 meat plate so if you want to try what they offer you'll have to get a 2 meat plate and a separate sandwich. That being said the price still came in under $15. Beans were nothing special. Potato salad had a nice eggy/mustard flavor. The sauce had a tomato base with a decent spicy kick to an otherwise sweet sauce. Brisket was good but lacked the smokey flavor most people enjoy. The beef itself was a good cut of meat and the charred edges held enough flavor to make it average. The ribs were tender and tasty. They also were a bit lacking in the smoke department but fared better than the brisket. I'd say the ribs were average. The hot links were well above average. Thay were spicy and had good flavor. They also weren't oily/greasy at all as is often the case. It's worth a visit even if you may not return a second time, especially if you enjoy hot links.
A harvest moon lit an otherwise dim parking lot. The scent of wood smoke hung heavy in the air as I passed through the door beside the prominent "NO GUNS" sign. A rag-tag clientele waited on mostly to-go orders as a clueless couple stood at the counter as
I loved it when it was Hardeman and I love'em even more now that it's Odom.
Got them beef tips with Mac n cheese greens, yams, and cornbread yesterday. Off the chain. Excellent meal. Shared with my daughter. Wish I had got her a plate. Long line but so worth the wait.
Food is always great. Loaded potato is the best ever and it’s huge. Service could be better lady that is ales the orders always seem to have an attitude.

💁 Stopped by for the 1st time tonight with my family. Ordered 1/2 Chicken with sides and 2 gigantic loaded baked potatoes. Finished it off with the pound cake. Fantastic! Wow! We’ll be back!
Food is delicious Five 🌟!
There service here is always terrible 🙄 ive been coming here since i was about 7! The barbecue is good just be mentally prepared for the bad attitudes that happen during your first encounter... People like to see friendly faces not bad/mean faces.... A smile goes a long way! My rating is food based! Not sure if its the owner or not but you walk out feeling like you owe them something 🤷♀️ im used to it... i just want food!
Love me sum soul food, smothered pok chops, greens, sweet potato, sweet cream 🌽, plus my favorite Peach🍑 cobbler.. OMG the wifey Rosa Hernandez loves the rib plate.
I am disabled and was craving some good soul food after my doctor's appointment on a hot day...my husband took me to Odoms BBQ in Duncanville to no avail...We were redirected to Odoms in West Dallas but due unforseen circumstances, still no hot plate. We were greeted by Ms. Melinda who was an angel 😇 she told us to come back the next day and she treated us to the best hot OX tails and sides ever. Thanks, God's continued blessings and love to the Odoms family.
Food is AMAZING, people who work thete are no nonsense fun people. My.hubby doesn't like bbq, I,love good bbq and we are here 2 days in a row. If we lived in Texas we would eat thete at least 1x a week
Ever looking for the Best Barbeque in West Dallas? Look no further, Odom's is where you want to go. Order lane usually moves quickly and the food is always on point, A+. Your taste buds will want more, so make a day available the following week to come back 👍.

* I had a whole experience story to write but I erased it*
In short: there is the steamed table of foods (greens, cabbage, corn, sweet potatoes, smothered meats, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, beans, okra stew, cornbread dressing, and more) then there is the BBQ area.
You order your bbq at the window from the menu on the wall (and know what you want)
If you want steam table items, you step all the way over past the table and form a line and wait to order with the steam table person. (And know wth you want before you order)....I got a veggie plate (greens, cabbage, sweet potatoes, and cornbread dressing with gravy). Don't go looking for vegan options cause the pork is porkinggg! Also got the peach cobbler!!!
(That meatloaf looked so good and it's on my list for next time.)
Portion sizes are very very healthy!
My 2 meat plate had 5 short ribs and sausage, beans and potato salad (which tasted like I made it 😋)
As you can probably tell I had enough food for a couple days.
Now even though service was fast, don't go looking for personality cause the ladies I encountered were true back in the day school house lunch ladies. Get in line correctly...Know what you want...speak loud and clear...don't hold up my line...NEXXXXXTTT
THE FOOD WAS SOOO GOOD.
One small bench for waiting. No type of ambiance cause it's a bbq take out place...just go expecting good food!
