Oh MAN, this place is THE place for chicken and waffles! The first time I went I noticed the ghetto menu they had because it was handwritten on a sign. Oh, and it's cash only...remember that! The chicken and waffles are SO GOOD that I nearly ate my own fingers off! My friends and family from out-of-state scream to eat here!

Yep, its that GOOD!!!!. OMG!!! I'm from Chicago, IL so the chicken and waffle joints are few and far between. I figured since I was in Texas my chances were greater for finding a chicken and waffle dive that would satisfy my taste buds. I found Big Mama's on Urban Spoon and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!! You have to go with the extra seasoning or your just eating plain old fried chicken. The waffle was good enough to skip the syrup. Did I mention I had to drive 20 minutes out of the way since I was in Lewisville and Mama's is in Dallis. More importantly, did I mention I went back the very next day for more!?!? Yep, its that good!!!!

Service sucks but man it's good. Out if waffles at 730p Sunday. Maybe its breakfast item but seems like wouldn't be with fried chicken. Not really spicy just seasoned really good. Came with big juciy jalepeno, fries and sliced bread. Squeezed the jalepeno on chicken, so delicious. Gonna have to gi back for a waffle. CASH ONLY

Legit place, not fancy but TASTY!. I love chicken. I love waffles. This place is like heaven to me.

I thought the chicken was delicious. I liked the spice of it, not TOO spicy, but definitely flavorful.

It came with a fluffy waffle on top. Enough butter and syrup to cover the waffle and the chicken. So good. I didn't bother with fries, catfish, hotlinks, etc. because my theory is, order what's in the title. I don't go to Red Lobster and bitch about the steaks. Duh.

Yes, it is a shack. Yes, they take only cash. But again, when the sign is just painted on the side, you don't go in expect the ritz. People who bitch about it's "ghetto-ness" should take their attitudes to KFC and get their new fancy grilled chicken.

Big Mama's is greasy. They tape the signs. They have old benches. They are located on the edge of a ravine in a not-so-fancy part of town. But damn they make some good ass chicken 'n waffles.

Favorite Fried Chicken. My parents used to bring me Spain's chicken whenever they were out there when I was much younger. And it's just as good these days as Big Mama's. I've taken all of my friends there and everyone loves it. Great chicken. Great fries. Great price. Pretty ghetto, but whatever.

I drive all the way from Allen for this chicken. This is fried chicken, sprinkled with a little seasoning (spicy, salty and sweet). It has unique mouthwatering flavor that will keep you coming back. They serve the chicken with pickles and jalepenos (these days you have to ask for it "all the way" and pay 50 cents more due to the economy), and they place it on 2 pieces of white bread with fries. My friends and I usually take a jalepeno and drizzle the juice all over the chicken then eat them together. I always take it to go, as the outdoor seating accomodations are not very comfortable.

It used to be called Spains years ago before the name changed to Big Mama's. I have never tried the waffles. The exterior renovation is refreshing to see. This place has loyal following. I keep asking them to open one in Plano.

Impressed. I've passed by this place all the time but never thought about eating there. After they finished their renovations it really caught my eye and i lve hole in the wall place better than any chain restaurant. The chicken and waffles were amazing and it really was inexpensive! Me and my boyfriend order the 4 piece regular with a waffle instead of fries and we both get full for $6.75. The seasoning made the chicken and the waffle was so light and fluffy. I look forward to going back...

Good Food in a small place. I am impressed with the food which comes from a shack sitting on a corner. They offer a variety of deep fried food, such as chicken, fish, liver, pork chop, hotwing, hotlinks, gizzard, and chicken strip (tenders), served with the option of fries, coleslaw, potatoe salad or waffles and most recently they began serving deserts which is an upgrade from their previous menus. They seem to have a special blend of seasoning which enhances the food flavoring for which I enjoy the most. They have a seating area with a couple of table and benches made of stone. The customer service occassionally is one of ghetto or soul food nature, which classifies it as the hood, depending on the day of the week you will visit. The service is fast, unless you drive up on a thursday, friday or saturday (day or night) when the cars on both sides are long, (extending into the street), I make special orders for hotwing, pork chops etc., like I did, where your wait will be 7 to 10 minutes longer after makng your order. If they ran out of chicken, your wait may extend a little longer, but it is worth the extra time. The staff is curious and sometimes professional, and if your order is not made to your perfection, they will refix your order. I am a regular there, and it appears that when I drive up, they already is aware of what I am ordering. I am impressed with Big Mama's chicken and waffles and have recommended to others.

I had a serious craving for chicken livers (because I'm definitely a country girl), so I stopped by while on this side of town. I miss living close to Big Mama's, but it's better that I don't. They'd see my face weekly! The delicious offerings are plentiful (MUCH more than chicken and waffles); you can read the whole menu before driving up (there are 2 drive-thrus), or walk up to the front window. Be prepared to wait, because your food is cooked when you order. (Trust me, you'll be pleased...) Add the jalapeno pepper and pickles to your meal! 😋

Great chicken, great prices. The tea is so good once I tasted mine I had to order another one for me. But I would give them five stars on their customer service alone

I love the chicken. Next time, I'll pay for extra seasoning because it seemed like it wasn't enough. I've been eating here for years, even through the name change. I'm glad it's still up and running. I ordered 2 wings, fries, and extra pickles – can't resist those! 😄

Ordered a 3 piece catfish and two piece wing. They charged me for a two piece catfish, I wasn’t worried about it. However, the fish was AMAZING! I really wish I would’ve gotten the third piece. Wings were OK. Ordered a side of peppers and they were the perfect addition. I had to wait for my order but all of the food was hot, so it was worth it!

The staff was Friendly, greeting you, saying THANK YOU. You never hear anyone saying that nowadays. My eyes told me to order more but I know I'll be back to try something else. So I'm from Chicago and I don't eat much fried chicken from anywhere else. But I do enjoy the chicken from here. Its realky good. The right amount of crunch and not oily. Service is quick, at least quick enough for frying chicken. I dont want my food rushed and you can tell they care. And the waffles are super delicious. They also had a peach cobbler I beleive that i got a while ago which was also super yummy!

Moved here from NewOrleans in 2001 when it was Spain’s chicken.. moved back in 06 & came back in 09’ & it’s still standing as Big Mama’s. Same good seasoning, same good chicken, same quick service, always had the most down to earth staff. Can’t go wrong with Big Mama’s.
