Review Cafe Salsera - Dallas

Great place to come hang out Friday or Saturday. This place used to be the best place to come dance. But now it feels like the crowed just wants to stand around and vibe....

Great place to go and have fun; regueton and Latin music! Definitely great cocktails! Try the 7 tequilas something like that! It’s blue! You gonna have fun! And you know what I lost my cellphone with a check bill and they gave them to me back!

We went there after hours for the dancing! They had cumbias, RnB and a Spanish mix the whole time.. we had a great time! If you want to dance the night away, this is your place to go!

So far I haven't tried any food, but the staff is always friendly. What really draws me here is typically they have Salsa lessons for like $5 per person (fyi. This whole Deep Ellum area has parking fees for most of the parking @$10 per. Car). But so far the Salsera has been good. And has a nice old feel to it. I'll update when I have some food and let you know there how it goes. Edit 3/21/19 Come pretty often, still a great place food is decent priced and has pretty good flavor, portions are good also.

At first the server was beyond rude to which we were going to switch out. I guess she came into work in a bad mood. I ordered food at 10:30 so I’m not sure if that’s why she wasn’t having it. After a while she just changed her attitude. She was then very nice and was constantly checking on us, which I really liked. So future reference patrons, ALWAYS tip your server at LEAST 20%!!! It will make your experience more enjoyable. I really think that’s what it was. She profiled her table and thought we were going to be cheap. We did get bottle service as well. The music was on point and the vibe was amazing. We really enjoyed ourselves.

One of the best latino night clubs in Deep Ellum! Good music and good atmosphere to rock your night.

Long line to get in. I took this photo in front of the club because it was so funny seeing Dallas police on horses! 😁 About the club: very long line, Saturday night seems to be more reggaeton and electronic, little cumbia & merengue. Smells like smoke and beer. Stuffed, hard to dance or move around. Overwhelming. Nice artwork on the walls. Awesome floor. I will come back another day hopefully there will be less people and more salsa music so I can test out that gorgeous hardwood floor.

This is the go to spot. Gets very crowded but they always have great music. That being said.. we only go if we are getting a bottle service because it is impossible to get drinks at the bar sometimes. If we don’t get bottle service we start our night of bar hoping here.

I don’t know about the last couple of reviews but I had a really good time enjoyed the music and the bottles! There was a fight but security quickly broke it up.

Amazing place! We were there a little early so there were not many people at that time. Great deals for happy hour! Loved their chicken wings and "adult coffee". Their coconut drink is super sweet (just like I love it!). The staff is extremely attentive and very courteous. Will definitely come back to try their Thursday salsa nights.

Cafe Salsera has had a good atmosphere for the times I have gone. They were polite, clean, and spacious. Unfortunately, i have never been fortunate enough to be there when they have food service. During their club hours they have played great music, and provided fair drink prices. I will definitely go back when I want to enjoy Latin music.

So sorry to say, this was an epic fail. In spite of my high hopes that this place would bring a bit of the Caribbean to Dallas, it was a huge let-down. All of the fifteen 5 Star Rating reviews up until this one pre-date the soft opening of the restaurant. The chef is from Texas and her flavors miss the mark of the Caribbean cuisine. I'm from Puerto Rico and lived in Miami for many years, so I was hoping for a taste of the islands. The staff is still figuring things out, which is understandable. The place itself is welcoming and they did a great job with the outdoor/indoor look. We started with the Empanadas because they "were out" of the Mofongo Balls. They were tasty although the mass is not what we typically use in El Caribe, but the ratio of mass to filling was off. My fellow diner had the chicken and I had the pork dish. Both were tasteless and poorly seasoned. The rice was tasteless as well and whatever they are calling "chimichurri" sauce tastes like wheatgrass doused with lime juice. The only things that were seasoned properly were the black beans and the french fries we got as a side. The owner was present, as was the chef, but neither bothered to ask us how the food was. Unless owner Chan hires a chef who understands authentic Caribbean flavors, I don't expect that this place will be around much longer, which is really too bad for those of us who were hoping it would be the real deal. The grand opening is in July... maybe they can turn it around by then. But that would require a complete overhaul in their flavor profiles. As for this Puerto Rican, I'll just wait to go back to Miami or Puerto Rico to have authentic Caribbean food.

Tried this place the first time a few weeks ago. It was okay, no cocktail menu, very slow, almost empty, not so good drinks (frozen margaritas), but the food was good. We tried it a second time last night to celebrate some birthdays. Tried to make a reservation days in advance that they never confirmed (turned out okay). They got their new food and cocktail menu. Great, right!? Our experience was much worse than the first time. We ordered the first round of top shelf margaritas (this time on the rocks). They tasted worse than regular cheap margaritas. We let the disappearing waitress know. She said it was because they had a substitute bartender. She brought us another set (said she had another bartender make them), we assumed to make up for the first one because she took the first set of drinks before we were done with them. Nope! Not only were the new ones worse, they charged us for them all!!! We let the waitress know they didn't adjust any of the drinks off. She said they would not remove them. We asked to speak with a manager, nothing. The owner was walking around, knew what was going on, and didn't bother to say a word to us!! My dish was over cooked, and the chips were stale. The music was like one out of 5 good songs. To top it off, because seven people sat at our table (3 did not eat with us) they charged us 20% gratuity. We're like, that's fine, sucky food, sucky drinks, sucky service, okay music, but they made their few extra bucks on our account by not making ANYTHING right. No worries; that's how you lose customers! We won't be going back!

I love this place! If you arrive early, you are able to get a booth and keep it for as long as you want! The staff is great! They come even through a dance floor that is packed to ask you if you need something else. (Shout out to Daniel our server) prices are great!

I had a good time I liked the vibe it was a little packed but the staff did well at keeping order of the place, I’d definitely go back.

We hosted a retirement party for my mother at Salsera on their upstairs balcony, and could not have been happier with the quality of the service, the food, and the drinks. They have amazing attention to detail and definitely helped us create an evening to remember for some time. Plus, let's be honest, their regular menu is excellent as well - definitely a fantastic addition to Deep Elm's growing restaurant scene.

watch your receipts, they add on 20% service fee plus Tip. So Do Not Tip anymore!!! After 10pm you don’t look at your receipt cause you’re buzz. They know how to get your Benjamin’s. $$$

Good food. Horrible music. When everyone is asking for salsa and you are still playing pop music..smh

The location, atmosphere, drinks and food were excellent!!! I really want this place to make it because I love great Caribbean food, but they need to improve in the quality of service. Our waitress was super friendly, but very slow! We were the only table for the longest and it still took us an hour half for a bite to eat. We didn't mind we were visiting with our kids, but I thought if she had more tables she would be in big trouble! The management really needs to get that in check, because all other components to having a fabulous dining experience is right on target Try the Mojito, dumplings and chicken #yummy

My husband made reservations for my birthday dinner . At first our two waitresses were very accomadating then we only had 1 to practically no one as they were more concerned with serving patrons at the bar as the crowd came in . Food was horrible & cold . Only great thing about this place is the music . If you like to dance show up around 10. Do not eat here .

Fried Avocado stuffed with shrimp was outstanding! Worth a trip back just for that. Enjoyed a nice cup of Café Salsera with Wilson and Waltz and was very impressed with their desire to create a great customer experience. Keep up the good work guys! We will be back soon.
