Review Koryo Kalbi Korean Bbq - Dallas

Haven't been to this restaurant in a while. Glad I visited!! It's still one of the best and most authentic Korean BBQ in Dallas. Also, I want to thank Shay, our waitress. Thank you for your service.

I LOVE me some Korean BBQ. Ever since I had Galbi in Hawaii, I’ve been exploring different Korean Restaurants around me. Since moving to the DFW area, Koryo was my first. It’s about 6 min from Spa King. I ordered from the grille Galbi with the whole Shabang of sides. All the sides were delicious and I was able to get a refill on the sides I loved (fish cakes). I got a good amount of Sides and Galbi for $38 before tax. The complimentary tea our waitress gave us was delicious! Lynn was our server and she was AMZAZING! She is so sweet, helpful, kind, friendly with GREAT customer service! I like the atmosphere and the option of eating from the grille or table. The cold pressed ginger tea which I think was the manager special was soooooo good! I would definitely be returning.

A lot of side dishes and good ones too like the white seaweed salad in mayo that our server said it’s coleslaw. I always get Yuk ghe yjang $17 whenever a restaurant have it. Big serving and purple rice is available and side dishes are big and abundant

One of my favorite places to eat very high quality Korean BBQ. Today just ate light with kimchi jigae (kimchi stew) and spicy galbi jjim (spicy short ribs). Both highly recommend. Food and banchan (side dishes) are good. Service is good as well.

This is the best Korean BBQ in the town! Since they cook the meat on the coal it has that smoke flavor. Their meat is so fresh, and I recommend to get the combination because it’s cheaper. They will cook it for you unless they are too busy. I like to go there during the weekend because there is this Nepal girl who serve the best service!

The best Korean BBQ in dfw, don't let pictures and reviews from other places fool you. I'm Korean have eaten in the old country of S. Korea and this place is the closest it gets to quality and taste. Be prepared for an experience, the waitress cuts and cooks all the meat for you (this should always happen unless it's a cheap or low quality place). The panchan or side dishes are great. I normally order the meat combo and spend 99 for two. Remember to tip your waitress or waiter they're actually working for it when they're juggling tables and cooking meat for you and others.

One of our top Korean bbq in town. All the side dishes are fresh and delicious, the charcoal grill is a plus with high quality meat. They open late as well. Love love love!

Food was excellent. Some of the best meat I’ve had at a Korean BBQ restaurant. The staff was very nice and the service was on point. The only thing that could have made this a 5 star, was that compared to other Korean BBQ places, it was a bit too Smokey inside. Other than that, it was a great meal and experience!

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday as a recommendation from a Korean friend, and we were not disappointed! Our waiter, Trey, took the time to explain everything to us, from the beer to what each dish contained. We were very impressed with the level of service and quality of the food. Not gonna lie, it is pricey but totally worth it for a special occasion.

Excellent experience! First time here, we came to celebrate 3 friends birthdays and we ordered a big family style meal, there were lots of sides, everything was delicious, and it was more than enough for 7 people. Our server Minnie was very nice and explained everything to us. Highly recommend!

This was my first time since post covid lockdown. Our waitress was amazing. She maneuvered grilling our table and several others. I loved that it was a charcoal grill and not electric or gas powered. We got the combo and the beef was so tender. It was a lot of meat for a party of three. The banchan is def one of the best in the district.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Koryo korean bbq. First, its not ayce bbq. We ordered the pork belly and ribeye. The meats is fresh and good quality and grilled over charcoal which made it more tasty. Came with abundant banchan which were very good. Service was excellent!!! Highly recommend and will defintely be back.

OMG! The food is way too good! Love the service! Very fast, sweet, and friendly. There are people constantly checking on you but not so much that it becomes annoying. They come at the right time to make sure the meat is cooked to perfection, and then they will check on you periodically to make sure you have everything you need. The bill came at the perfect timing and I almost didn't have to wait for the bill to come back after I put my card there. I will definitely come back whenever I visit Dallas.

I visited this place for a weekday lunch with office colleagues. They serve the Korean cuisine. Here is my perspective about the place being a vegetarian.

Food (2.5/5) -. Since I am a vegetarian, I had very few options to choose from. I decided to go with their appetizer Teriyaki Dubu with rice as side. It was basically Fried Tofu prepared in Teriyaki style. To my taste buds, it felt very bland. Although I loved the sides which was presented along with especially the kimchi. My non vegetarian friends loved the food. I guess this place is just not suitable for vegetarians.

Ambience (3/5) - The ambience is very normal. Nothing special about it.

Service (3.5/5) - The Korean staff was good. Since we were visiting the first time place, they were welcoming and ready to help us with the suggestions. The food could have been served a little quick.

Overall, the experience was not so good.

This used to be our usual Kalbi place for last several years. However during the last few visits we had experienced some poor food quality(Kalbi rib meat was rubbery and chewy, and the octopus in the seafood hot pot was very hard to eat)and not so friendly service(it was a challenge to communicate with waitresses which caused some miscommunication). However today’s encounter topped the most ridiculous experience ever for us. we were asked to leave because we did not order enough entrees but got some free miso soup per Manager Sam. I have ordered marinated Kalbi rib($21.95)(wanted try it again), seafood tofu soup($10.99)seafood pancake($12.99) and tried to order the steamed egg. We planned to eat relatively light tonight after having Pilates. The waitress was very rude and indifferent and expressed unwillingness to order the steamed egg and we did not understand why. Later the manager Sam came to tell us that because we did not order enough entrees to order side dish(steamed egg)??. I agreed not to order it then. After that he looked our table and asked if we know that we can only get one complimentary soup per entree order. I said we did not know this. Is this new rule? We have dined here for years. He said it has been some new changes since he became manager. Then I questioned him that why he did not tell us last time we were here. He answered he was too busy and overlooked. Then we asked him if he mentioned that rule to other customers there. He said he has not yet. So I questioned if he is discriminating against us. He immediately said he would like us to leave. We traveled a lot all over the world and dined at a lot of restaurants, this has been the strangest experience so far. For Sam, I don’t think he cares at all about your dining experience, customer service, all he cares is how much you order. You might be busy enough now and do not care about losing some customers. In the near future: Poor food quality + Rude service = No more businesses. If you want to enjoy your meal(not in a smoky environment) with good service and quality food, go somewhere else!

Interesting experience. We went in not knowing anything about how this works, and it was very difficult to enjoy because it went so fast - rather than explaining everything so that we could savor the experience, our meat was cooked for us very quickly. We had fun with the new experience, but we are unlikely to return. It would have been great to know what all the foods were.

My visit here was very pleasant and service was friendly. This place got packed pretty quickly for a Thursday night. It is kind of tucked back in a strip mall with mostly Korean establishments. The waitress did forget my order of mandu and had to be reminded, the service was a little scattered and lacking in the BBQ area, but it didn't bother me because I rather grill my own food anyways. All and all it was able to fill my need for Korean BBQ. It is a little pricey, I spent like $76 for just one person.

This place is always packed whether it's a weekday lunch or dinner. The bibimbap is excellent as always. Everything comes out so hot from the hot stone bowl. The LA beef was fab - M 10 yr old are it by himself ($24 😂). Pork donkatsu like the Japanese tonkatsu is massive enough for my other two kids to share. They didn't like the sauce though... Overkill. Spicy noodles is yummy -- hit the spot. We asked for a drink that's similar to sake and the server directed us to shoju -- it was pretty harsh. More like vodka than sake so we brought it home to make cocktails instead.

Grilled meat over real charcoal, not gas. The moment the server brought over hot, glowing coals and placed them in the grill built right into the table, I knew we were in for something very special. As an aficionado of Korean barbecue for over twenty years, I have only seen that at two other places in the U.S.: Soot Bull Jeep in Los Angeles, and Brother's in San Francisco.

It's an important distinction, because charcoal sears the meat and locks in the juices without adding the chemical aftertaste of gas. Instantly, you know this meal is going to be a treat---and very authentic.

Get the barbecue. What followed was a parade of high-quality meats, achingly tender and rich. The kalbi (short ribs) were among the best I have ever eaten. They are accompanied by a sesame dipping sauce, though I prefer to eat them piled in lettuce wraps imbued for gochuchang, Korean sweet/hot sauce (request it).

Korean meals always come with banchan, numerous small dishes of pickled or steamed vegetables. Kimchee, fiery marinated cabbage, is the most well known. The others range from hot to cool to give you palate a rest. The bean paste served here is an insanely good version of that condiment (was that a touch of miso paste in there?).

Overall, a stunning find in Dallas, and a rare gem among Korean restaurants.

This was my first time having Korean BBQ. The server, Kevin, was extremely helpful with recommendations and explanations. I had the marinated short rib and the pork belly; both were delicious. The sides were excellent - I loved the kimchi pancake! Would definitely recommend and will be coming back.

This place is worth the drive from Oklahoma City.

Very good food. The service is meh. The servers didnt explain much but it was 9:30P so maybe thats why.
Started with the tofu appetizer which is phenomenal, rivaling any good agedashi tofu but with veggies and teriyaki sauce on it.
The Bulgogi beef just great all around. Tender, moist and sweet.
Skip the hot bowl bibimbop though - not much flavor and low in meat content.
Would love to go back for even just the tofu.

The best Korean restaurant I've been to! Everything we tried (kalbi, bulgolgi, bibimbob) was amazing!

Authentic, friendly, fantastic. I lived in Korea for a year, and this is by far the best Korean food DFW has to offer. We have driven to Dallas over 3 hours away just to eat here. Seriously. It is that good.
Like most traditional Korean restaurants, you can cook at your own table or have the kitchen prepare it for you. The banchan that come with the bulgogi are always different, but always spicy and good. The soups are good, and stay hot for a long time. I usually have to drop a couple of ice cubes in mine.
Finish up with the cool ginger tea...it helps to settle the stomach and aids in digestion.
The ladies who work here are very friendly and have lots of interesting stories, altough if you don't speak Hangul it is kind of hard to communicate "in depth" with some.
This place is definitely worth the drive from wherever you are.

I've been to many Korean restaurants but very few Korean BBQ. This is my new standard for Korean BBQ. The place is set back from the parking lot in a covered alcove. Very non-descript exterior, but the inside is quite nice, clean and welcoming. The booths are cozy and give you a sense of privacy. The BBQ comes with quite a complement of different types of Kimchi that taste great and fresh or as fresh as pickled veggies can be. But the BBQ is the highlight. You need 2 or more people to have the BBQ at you table, but the control over the cooking level is a definite plus. The freshness of the meat, the BBQ sauce, and the smiling well timed attention of the server go hand in hand to create an excellent dining experience. I recommend Chosun to all and will be back many more times.

Just like mom's. Run, do not walk to get the galbi. It really is just like mom's...

We went to Chosun Kalbi to have Korean bbq one of the nights I was in Dallas per an invitation. We started with some yummy radish soup. I think this was complementary but you had to get up and get it yourself from a buffet table. The soup was flavorful an
