Review The Cupcakery - Dallas

Samantha Heard
I have purchased cupcakes from this business at least 5 times. The customer service is awesome. Friendly people, very personable. I live in the neighborhood and always feel welcomed. I love all of the flavors, including the wedding cake, almond joy, carrot cake, red velvet. However, the best include the German Chocolate cake pop and the Double/Triple Chocolate Cupcake. The chocolate cupcake literally melts in your mouth. A must try!

I really enjoyed my cupcakes. I had the lemongrass infused with coconut it was super delicious as well as some mini peanut ones! The owner was EXTREMELY nice and very gracious. I don't generally give 5 stars but the cupcakes coupled with the service definitely puts them in the 5 star category

I had the Strawberry lemonade & red velvet. Best cupcakes I've had in a while! Bonus Unique cupcake designs and great customer service. Overall pleasant experience. I will be back on my next trip to DFW! ;-)

I love this place. The shop owner is amazing and the cupcakes taste so delicious. Rich and sweet. Really creative flavours as well. Also, will not break the bank. I come by anytime I pass by McKinney. I just can't help myself.

After tasting all the cupcakes around the town, I must say these guys make the best cupcakes! The texture, flavor and icing are by far the best compare to all others. Their seasonal special flavors are a must try!

These are some of the best Cupcakes in Dallas. The cake is wonderful and the icing is great as well. The price is TOO EXPENSIVE. even though the cupcakes are great, they are not worth the 3.50 per cupcakes. The cupcakes could use a little more Icing too.

This is the only place I go for cupcakes (outside of my own kitchen). I've never had a cupcake here I didn't love immediately. Not to mention, James Nelson is absolutely wonderful and his customer service is superb! ;)

The staff are all amazing! The one man we bought cupcakes from was super friendly and helped me pick out my cupcakes. I tried their new cupcake called the 1903 Dallas Summer Musicals Cupcake and overall, it was very good. To me, it has a taste of peanut butter in the cake part and the frosting had a hazelnut taste to it. All in all, it was awesome! Would definitely try again!

Best cake balls ever! Also, James Nelson is one of the best most giving men ever.

Excellent cupcakes, mostly Banana cream one. I'll have to try the Dallas Winds one since I'm in orchestra currently as a violinist and I'm familiar with Dallas Wind Symphony. Better come back again and for some coffee. Grade: A+

An unassuming shopfront opens up to a selection of delicious cupcakes. The lady serving me was super friendly and very helpful. I ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cupcake (combination of chocolate cake with peanut frosting and choc chips) and the Southern Belle Cupcake (red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting). She packed both away for me but I was going to eat one whilst I was there. She was lovely enough to get me one that wasn't chilled to enjoy straight away and let me the keep the one in the box I had already. This was southern hospitality at its best. I tasted the cupcake and it was moist and oh so flavoursome. I enjoyed it so much I also bought a Banana Cream Bomb Cupcake (vanilla cupcake filled with banana pudding and bananas and topped with a cookie).

If you happen to be in the area you should definitely give this place a try.

Pretty good place to have some amazing cupcakes..would recommend these: wedding cup cake, bundle of joy and peanut butter. Totally in love with the wedding cup cakes..

Oh my gosh! Ganache! Yes, that's the name of the cupcake that I'm absolutely in love with ordering at the original cupcakery, although you really can't go wrong with any of them! The decor is glamorous and girlie. Everything you'd expect out of a cupcake store.

Decent Cupcakes. Cupcakery's cupcakes are middle of the road. We enjoyed the flavors of the Kir Royale which mixed raspberry and champagne. The chocolate peanut butter cup was good. I found my discussion with the employee working that night interesting. She said that most of the customers she sees are tourists or non-locals visiting McKinney Ave. She does not see repeat local customers. That may account for the lower ratings for this store.

Sprinkles is better.. They can definitely take a lesson from Sprinkles on service and how to make cupcakes... Had the red velvet: SUPER DRY and clearly they need a lesson on cupcake to frosting ratio.
Gail Broad
The best host in town. If you enjoy cake without overkill on frosting like I do then this is the place for you!!
The staff is great always upbeat and friendly!!
April Wise
Terrible service, DRY cupcakes, and the icing is way too sweet...
GoodFoodisGood
Omg! The raspberry with champagne frosting is the best ever!! Actually, we love them all! Waaaay better than Sprinkles!
Katie Avila
Very Artificial. All the flavors were very artificail tasting and the use of food coloring was excessive. The cupcake did seem like they were very fresh. I wont go back. SPRINKLES ARE STILL THE BAST!
Melanie
Delicious and good for special occasions. First, I'm not a fan of designer cupcakes. I think the whole craze has gone a bit overboard. But, that said, I really liked this place.
I tried several flavors, but don't remember the names since they are all fancy and not listed on their website.
The coconut flavored one was great; very fluffy cake and yummy icing and plenty of it. The double chocolates were enjoyed by my family of chocoholics.
Also a hit were the german chocolate cake and the Boston creme pie version.
Also a fun place to do a girly celebration since they serve champagne and have a seating area.
Lucy
Let me just say that the Coco Frauline cupcake here is to die for!! "Dark chocolate cake stuffed full of traditional German Chocolate goodies... creamy coconut and pecan gooeyness. The little darling is covered with 5 layers of chocolate ganache and rolled in crushed Texas pecans. A must for any chocolate connoisseur or nut lover." - The Cupcakery website. (www.thecupcakery.com) Try it people!!!

Same here: Pretty cake but that's about all it is. The actual cupcake is really dry across the menu and the icing is really rich. It's almost as if the cake is just a medium for the frosting. Dissapointing, but the counter girl was very nice and I do like the fact that they also sell drinks and coffee.
Jake Holly
Cool place but I don't have much experience eating fancy cakes. The are all well designed and they have about 20 kinds. Price is around three bucks a piece and if u get them to go they put them in a Chinese food container. The icing was great but the cake was just so so. Overall I would say it's worth trying out for a smack.
Krissycakes
They really go overboard on the decorations. Yes they are pretty cupcakes, but they are too dry, dense and crumbly for me. Frosting is very rich and wet but doesn't make it any better.

Get Your Sugar On. I can't tell if I love this place or not. My goodness, the cupcakes are RICH! I don't see how some one could eat a whole cupcake here. Don't get me wrong, mine was delicious and exploding with flavor, but they're just so sweet. You might want to cut these baked goods into quarters and serve them by the slice.

Tons of frosting present if you like that. I had "Strawberry Shortcake" and was very strawberry-y. I also sampled one of the "Champagne" ones. Ha! That definitely has champagne in it. And if it doesn't, it's accurately replicated.

The Cupcakery is worth trying. Any negative reviews of this place make me sad. How can you hate cupcakes? Even if it's a bad one, IT'S A CUPCAKE!
