Review Zuzu Handmade Mexican Food - Dallas

Delicious fresh ingredients. Taco Tuesday is a good deal but not really that much more expensive to get a taco platter the other 6 days. They only have specialty teas. Peach or mango, I think it was. I prefer just plain iced tea and was disappointed that they do not have this. The variety of salsas and the freshness of the food made up for it!

I used to eat here 2-3 times a week. Now it's once a month. The owner tried to make the place trendy and failed miserably. Not to mention she'll nickle and dime the customers over anything. Here's a hint - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The atmosphere and food was great, and trying to make zuzu's "upscale" and changing the food just didn't work. Thank god the salsa and chips, and also the quesadillas are still the same, but other food, like the burritos, doesn't have the same flavor anymore.

Came here because it advertised on the front door and the menu that the tortillas are handmade. I had tacos with their flour handmade tortillas. Right away I could tell these were packaged tortillas. Then my husband passed by the kitchen and saw the packaged tortillas. Service was friendly. Food was okay.

I went today after church service. Due to me having an errand to run our food was not at it's freshest but, many times after food has sat all the seasonings have come together and marinaded well. This was not the case. The food and ingredients still kinda had it's own individualized taste....not a plus or minus it just never really came together as a memorable taste. It is reasonably priced. And, the portions were good. We ordered a Taco salad...the top part of the shell was really good. But, was soggy at the bottom from the bean juice (that was because of my tardiness and failure to mention we'll need a little time for pickup). My daughter didn't care much for it. I ordered the Shrimp Enchiladas. They were okay. I didn't care for the red sauce it was topped with. Had I known that was how it was prepared I'd specify cheese. My refried beans were good. The service was subpar. Instead of being greeted the guy walked from the back and looked at us as if he was agitated or put off...who knows. The guy in the back stared at me when I wasn't looking (or so he thought)...and looked past me when I glanced in that direction. I asked for plastic ware for our to go order...and, the female waitress appeared annoyed. She grabbed a knife and fork...and, literally YANKED the paper towels from the dispenser. I said thank you ..She just looked on with no response. That's been the norm in customer service at most places that are more than likely anonymously hate their job and the customers that help sustain them...God bless them all. I'm just glad I was able to order through an app. To me it decreases the likelihood of them doing something to the food because there's no real connection until pickup. I'm always open for extending second chances... but.... I won't be back because I didn't feel welcomed, during my first visit.

This place is supposed to be one of those new fangled Taco joints like an upscale Taco stand, and it tastes good enough that I'm ok with it. Their salsa is hand made and dang good. The resturant is comfortable and their margaritas are decent. I won't lie, it's a bit expensive, expect 15$ for a premium meal with a Margarita, but it's worth it!

I've been going to this place for over 20 years and it's always good. Freshly made, tasty recipes, amazing salsa, warm chips and a great price. The service is super friendly and efficient. I love this place hard.

Honestly, our family's favorite mexican food for years now. Mostly it is about the excellent salsas. When we are there we will sometimes buy some to take home, but you have to use it quickly because it is fresh made without preservatives.

In short great freshly cooked food with good value! Chicken fajitas plate was great proportion size (actual chicken breast) and came with non greasy Mexican rice and very good black beans and a dollop of tasty guacamole. A home style hot sauce would put this at a five. Will be back either way!
