I can see why this place is so highly rated. The Veggie Combo was so tasty and filling, we had to take some to-go and it was just as yummy the next day! The injera is sooo soft. The mango juice is amazing. The service is really great as well. I like the ambience, it’s a great place to hang out, definitely not too fancy. Cant wait to come back!

the food here is delectable! i have only had ethiopian food a few other times, but this is my new favorite spot. I shared the meat and veggie combo with two other people and we couldn’t even finish. It was so much food for the price. Plenty of delicious veggies and lentils. I highly recommend the chicken, it was well-cooked and so flavorful. Sambusas were good too, very crispy.

Decent Ethiopian food with good service. We seated ourselves and shared the veggie platter, which was plenty of food that we ended up taking home around half of.

Ethiopian cuisine is one of my favorites. All the injera, all the time. The veggie combo here at Desta is the way to go. We tried the chicken tibs on a previous visit and it's good - but the veggie combo is spectacular. I've been back (both through straight food delivery and picking up takeout food) three times now, and each time it is delicious. One of the best ways to get me to eat my vegetables - everything is well cooked, well spiced, not swimming in grease. It leaves me extremely happy and well fed, and I also feel like the food that I'm eating is good for me. Thanks, Desta. You guys are great. :)

The food is delicious and it's a big meal. Very much veg friendly too as they have seperate options for vegetarians. You can try veggie combo and you will get all the stuff along with unlimited Injira ( grain bread) like a roti or dosa in India. I feel like all the veggies , dals are same as Indian , ofcourse with different taste of spices. But it's really good. Must try the fresh mango juice. It's such a delicious drink.

First time trying Ethiopian food. My server was very welcoming! I did my research before going and I even had my food already picked out (thanks to my little sister). I went by myself but this culture food is best shared with loved ones to get the full experience. I really enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. Thank you very much! I will definitely be back with my friends and family.

If you're looking for an authentic Ethiopian dining experience that will transport you to the heart of Addis Ababa, this restaurant is a must-visit. From the rich, aromatic spices to the tender, perfectly cooked meats, every dish is a masterpiece of Ethiopian cuisine. The only downside? The napkin situation is a bit sparse, so be prepared to get your hands a little messy. But hey, isn't that half the fun of Ethiopian food anyway?
Semester Project
Today I had the pleasure of visiting Desta Ethiopian restaurant to source food for a presentation, and it was an absolutely exceptional experience. The presentation of dishes was simply stunning, with each plate arranged in a truly artistic manner that showcased the intricate flavors and textures of the food. What truly set Desta apart, however, was the hospitality and kindness of the owner and manager. Not only did they generously share their knowledge and expertise about the history and significance of each dish, but they even went so far as to lend me a plate holder for my presentation. It was clear that they were truly invested in making my experience as positive and enjoyable as possible. After the presentation, I had the pleasure of sharing the food with my colleagues, and it was a resounding success. Everyone was able to taste the delicious and complex flavors of the Ethiopian cuisine, and they loved it. I highly recommend Desta Ethiopian restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable culinary experience. From the beautiful presentation of the dishes to the friendly and welcoming staff, this restaurant is truly a gem. I give it my highest rating and look forward to returning in the future.

First trip. First time for Ethiopian food. Really good dishes. Lamb was terrific, spices and flavor of everything was great. Prefer no tv in dining area with sound up. Otherwise great experience!

Meet friends for an early dinner to experience Ethiopian food for the first time. I had high expectations because my son had already told me Ethiopian food was his favorite foreign food. I was not disappointed. I ordered lamb with mixed vegetables, served traditional style. So amazing. So flavorful. So much food the two of us could not finish, now I have leftovers. Bonus! Then we ordered traditional coffee and enjoyed warm baklava and ice cold tiramasu for dessert. Probably the best tiramasu I've ever had. The whole meal, Wow! We will be back. Once home, we went down a YouTube rabbit hole on Ethiopia.

I had the pleasure of dining at Desta Ethiopian Restaurant and ordered their Veggie Combo, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience deserving of a 5-star review. The Veggie Combo is a delightful array of Ethiopian vegetarian dishes that left a lasting impression on my taste buds. Each component of the combo was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, adding to the overall dining experience. The variety of flavors in the Veggie Combo was remarkable. From the rich and savory lentil stews to the perfectly spiced vegetables, every bite was a taste sensation. The injera, a traditional Ethiopian flatbread, served as the perfect accompaniment, complementing the dishes excellently. The portions were generous, ensuring that I left with a satisfied appetite. The quality of ingredients and the authenticity of the flavors made this meal a true culinary delight. The restaurant itself provided a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the service was top-notch. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, helping me navigate the Ethiopian cuisine, which was a new experience for me. In summary, Desta Ethiopian Restaurant's Veggie Combo is a must-try for anyone looking to explore the world of Ethiopian cuisine. The flavors, presentation, and overall dining experience were outstanding, and I look forward to returning to sample more of their menu. It's safe to say that this restaurant has earned its place among my favorites, and I highly recommend it to all food enthusiasts.

I am actually from Houston, and I’ve gone to Ethiopian restaurants in the past but I was very pleased when coming here. The portions are great, but I was honestly very impressed by how fast they were at getting our food out. The place gets packed and with good reason. If I’m ever in town again I would definitely come back! Also the staff was very nice! Keep up the great work!!!

The owners went above and beyond to accommodate our large group (including having the bride participate in a traditional coffee ceremony & gifting hambasha to our group). Everyone throughly enjoyed the variety of delicious dishes. The atmosphere was so welcoming that other tables even joined in congratulating our tables' wedding celebration. A week later and our friends and family are still commenting on how much they enjoyed coming here!

We tried Ethiopian food for the first time and loved it. Our server was the best he was kind, courteous and helpful. Food selection provides vegetarian options in addition to a wide variety of meat dishes. We will definitely return.

Never had Ethiopian cuisine before. This was awesome! Eat with your fingers by scooping little piles of goodness with a rubbery flatbread called injera made from a grain called teff. The servers were warm and friendly and the place was nice at lunch. Reminded me of Indian food. Ranges from mild to killer spicy, depending on what you order.

This place was great! It was my first time coming here and in my personal experience I found the staff to be helpful, the place was neat, and my food was served to me fresh and fast (authentic and tasty)! I also heard they do coffee ceremonies every Sunday after church so I can't wait to check it out. My only complaint is that the waiting staff could be a bit more enthusiastic that way more customers might be eager to come back.

Long wait to be seated. Expensive place. They take ages to bring your food. Very crowded place. The food is decent. When we asked for more injured they didn't give us enough and soon. We were asked to leave the place as they had to close.

Great food and excellent service!

Even if the English isn't very good- everyone understands a welcoming smile! The food was fantastic as was the atmosphere!

Kids liked it, too!. I have one son who will eat anything and one very picky son who despises all vegetables. They both really enjoyed the food as did I. This is the first Ethiopian restaurant I've been to but I've had homemade Ethiopian food before and this didn't disappoint.

The food as Desta was very delicious (superb, in fact), but the service was terrible. They don't have many tables so wait staff was not in short, but according to the manager, it was. We received sodas in wine glasses because they were out of regular glasses, and by the time we received them, the ice had melted and we drank watery, flat Coke. Taking orders took a long time (ordering didn't, but for some reason we received help after 30 minutes most time. It took a long time for the food to show up, and some people in our party didn't initially receive drinks. They didn't give us enough menus, and the restaurant was too dark to read what we did receive. If it wasn't for the good food, we would've left.

Taste the Love. We took advantage of a Groupon to visit this surprising find. Well worth the drive in the rain during rush hour. The unimpressive strip mall exterior belies the attractive modern interior. Our server was charming and warm and offered suggestions for our varying desires for heat and adventure. My husband chose a dish made with tilapia and chiles, with fresh house made cheese and collards. It was so savory, I couldn't stop sneaking bites from his plate. An appetizer with the traditional bread, honey and almonds, seasoned with herbs, was irresistible. I have not had Ethiopian in several years, so I am not good at remembering the unique names. The specials on the menu that night are not on their web site today for me to cross-check. The traditional spicy chicken stew was very good, just the right heat for a spicy palate; the chilies did not overwhelm the flavors. The sambusa meat appetizer was just the right bite to whet the appetite, served piping hot. House wine was a good accompaniment. The owner stopped by to chat and was gracious; she gave me an extra portion of the cheese and bread to go with my leftovers. Desserts are not special, so save your calories for the real deal. We will be back.

Desta = Happiness. Our waitress told us the word Desta means "Happiness" in Ethiopian, and this restaurant will definitely make you feel happy. The space is open and inviting. The bar is very nice (but not yet serving alcohol when I went). I was pleased to see several Ethiopian people (or at least African immigrants) eating there, as this is usually a good sign that the food is pretty authentic.
The food was excellent. If you like bold, in your face flavors then you'll love Ethiopian food. (Think Indian curries, Cajun, Creole, etc.) Try the Dewar Wat, a spicy Ethiopian stew with chicken served atop injera, which is Ethiopian flatbread. Be prepared to make a mess of yourself as you are supposed to eat everything with your hands.

Good but Different. Desta has wonderful food, very flavorful, but it was a little different from what I expected. This is labeled as "contemporary Ethiopian cuisine", which admittedly worried me at first. However, this simply turned out to mean that it is Ethiopian food served on plates, rather than on top of injera. Unexpected, but still delicious.
Oh, and apparently they also serve things like Ethiopian inspired burgers...must try those next time I'm there.
