Stumbled upon this cafe while working in downtown and was pleasantly surprised. Laid back and artsy atmosphere with some cool decorations. They have a lot of bakery items as well as good lunch items that include sandwiches salads and soups. I will come back here again if I am in the neighborhood.

Helloooo metropolitan cafe!!! We stayed in the indigo hotel just steps from this cafe.
Perfect for breakfast. We had hot chocolates topped with whipped cream and two scrambled eggs with cheese and bagel.
Hot and delicious. Ready to start a good day...
There is a lot to see inside of this cafe. Antiques, photos, flags, traffic lights, and a lot more...
Breakfast and history... You will find out...

The Metropolitan Cafe has consistently delicious food and coffee. They are open for breakfast and lunch during the week. This has been one of the most delicious breakfast croissants I have had in a while. Go check it out!

This Coffee is an Oasis of Culture and History plus tasty food and good coffees.
We arrived here as a casualty and the result was amazing, a tiny place fill with the most interesting things: a white piano full of signatures of a bunch of people (next time I will sing @jokossita), a small stage in the entrance, a library filled with collectible things, a corner for Pearl Harbor, a corner for JFK.
A must go if you are visiting Dallas.
The place is warm and nicely served.
The Food and Coffee is good and there’s a bunch of different things you can order. Stay a while so you can talk to the server he has a bunch of great stories.

If you are lookin for something sweet with coffee, this is the perfect place. The cakes are amazing! The price is right. I love the coffee! Dollar fifty cups. Free refills when you have had a long night. If your of the dating world you know a good find. For those martial couples who like sweet little nibbles, this is one of a kind. The timing is right for busy bees & early birds! Mid day visits are good too. There may be a variety of cakes. I am sharing mine with you. Always tip the place if you have had more than a few. Like many rare treasures keep this one alive... for all in need of the perfect view. See you soon:

I give this place two thumbs up along with all my fingers and toes. Great food, good prices and great fast service. I noticed Greek influence and I love Mediterranean food. This homeless man is happy I'll be back.

I’ve been to this amazing place twice and wish it had been on my radar years ago. It’s iconic and very nostalgic with great food as well. I had the chicken salad sandwich and it was homemade and tasted great! The owner, Michael, was very friendly and filled me and my fiancé in on the history of the place and his family as well. He also shared a couple of scrapbooks detailing past family restaurants and social events etc. we will be regulars from now on.

This place is a true Dallas gem! The food is absolutely amazing, the experience of being there is one of a kind. So much Dallas history and beautiful art adorn the walls. They have an amazing chai latte. Also, an amazing Greek salad and new patisseries every day.

Amazing food and laid back atmosphere. What's more could you ask for? I got the Greek Chicken special for lunch and it was to die for! My friends got the BLT and a muffin. They loved their food and enjoyed the homey atmosphere. Will go back if I am ever in Dallas!

Great place for breakfast and lunch.
Love the crab cakes, chicken special on Friday. The Greek salad is phenomenal. Competitive prices for coffee and amazing eggs. Also, place has a lot of local history. I learn something new from the owner every time I walk in there.

The Friday special was amazing and the wait staff was very helpful and kind. The building had a cool atmosphere and felt like a big metro city restaurant while still being home-y and relaxed.

As good a latte as you will get in America. Chocolate cake is awesome. Gets really busy at lunchtime and there is only one register so we waited in a line of at least 25 people but in the end it was worth it.

What a gem! Metropolitan Cafe is my go-to lunch spot. It's so reasonably priced + the food tastes homemade, which I love. For someone who should really pack a lunch more often, this place makes me feel slightly less guilty about eating out while still being super tasty.

Their coffee is amazing. I especially love the frozen vanilla latte. I enjoy their cakes as well! I ordered a panini for lunch and it was just okay. It's a neighborhood spot though that is quite popular so maybe I just didn't order the right thing. Regardless, I'll be the first one there for coffee anytime!!!

I stumbled upon this place a few weeks ago for lunch, I ordered the meatloaf (which is Tuesday's special) and it was extraordinary! I walked to the front to fill my tea, and peeked into the kitchen out of curiosity. I saw a small, adorable woman in the back working as if she was an octopus cooking, plating, and garnishing each special. I was amazed, I asked who she was and the man in the front informed me she was his mother. I was completely blown away. Her name is Christine, and she truly is the mastermind of Metropolitan cafe. She cooks everything, has perfected and practically created the menu, she also does all of the baking. You can special order her cakes, but she prefers at least 48 hrs notice. She is so talented and impressive in that kitchen. I have tried each special, and they all remind me of home. I have completely fallen in love with all of her specials, and her amazing cakes! I don't think I have ever seen a woman work so hard in my life! Lines out the door, and she is the one in the back cooking her heart out and pouring her passion for cooking on each plate. Ms. Christine truly is the mastermind of Metropolitan cafe 😍

I love the way this cafe feels! It's a mix of Cuba and New Orleans, with jazz trickling through the speakers and the tobacco-colored walls. The place is packed during lunch and offers an extensive coffee drink menu - something surprising lacking at this end of downtown. This is the kind of cafe every great neighborhood deserves!

Loved this place! Popped in with a few co workers and we will definitely be back again! The sandwiches are great and the pasta looked so good! Quick service and very cute little place!

This place is in walking distance from my job and I just discovered it! It is such a cute little place! The food was good and it was cheap! Good place to grab a quick bite.

This little shop has become one of my favorite stops in downtown Dallas. The owner is always willing to gab a bit with us and I enjoy hearing about the decades of history his establishment has. He has one of the best cups of coffee in DFW!

Love this tiny, family-owned cafe! Their lunch special changes daily and never disappoint! Perfect lunch spot for any downtown Dallas employee!

My first time visiting here was with co-workers and although it is a small cafe they were more than happy to accommodate us! the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere was an authentic cafe ambiance. It reminded me of like a little step back in history with all of the vintage decor and the Dallas History. I had the Ham and swiss on a croissant and i must say that it was delicious! Its within walking distance of where i work and i could defiantly see this becoming one of the popular spots that i go too!

This place is a hidden gem in the downtown area. Unless you were looking for it, it's likely you'd just walk right by - but trust me, you don't want to pass over this place. I love how home-y it is and how it's always the same fella at the register. You can get everything from amazing croissant sandwiches (super cheap too) to candy bars to iced lattes. If you go frequently, they'll even start a tab for you. Super popular with locals - I see the same people in there all of the time, which is definitely a testament to the overall experience of hitting this place regularly. Plus, the coffee is cheap and seriously on point.

This is a small cafe/coffee shop in Uptown, Dallas. It is so cute and friendly. It is family-owned to the core. Stop in and say hi, everyone is so nice. The coffee and breakfast is fantastic. I can't speak to the lunch menu, yet.

I work upstairs from this place so I'm kind of a regular. The owner, Mike, is a really cool guy. It really is a family business. I mean, his wife and mother work in the kitchen and his nephew is a waiter. Every day, they have great specials that draw a crowd, but crab cake day, holy crap... Those things are great... If me and the crew don't get downstairs before 11:45 am, the line is out the door until 12:45 pm. Overall, a really great place to enjoy a delicious cozy lunch. Just get there early on crab cake day. :) -JD

My favorite lunch spot. Can't go wrong with the daily special. (Wednesday is crab cakes!) And if you don't have a piece of Mom's cake you're only hurting yourself.

Excellent Panini's. I love this place for it's panini's, always good. The first bite made me want to live off them!
