After having lived in the neighborhood for several years, it wasn't until I had moved away before I'd decided to try it! I was super pleased! The sushi is on the pricy side but excellent!
I couldn't help but notice how many couples were here but then I realized how much of a perfect date night spot this would be! I'm definitely coming back... probably with a date!

Food was fantastic! (Think Japanese tapas)
Sake options were very good as well.
The service was, at times, painfully slow.
Our food came out over a two hour period. When dealing with "tapas", this means that there were long stretches of no eating.
At the end of the night, after ordering dessert, the staff came out to apologise for the delays in food (we did not complain to anyone) and brought us a tray of macaroons.

Everything here was pretty good. I think my favorite thing from the night I went is actually tied between the chicken liver skewer and the sea urchin. The only things that I could have passed on was the cow tounge (tough for what I'm used to) and foie gras (which had something on it that was so sweet it overpowered everything). I think the general consensus from everyone that night was that the place was liked.

Not sure what's with all the recent reviews, but I went on a Saturday at 8 PM had no issues whatsoever. Food was absolutely delicious, although a bit disappointed yakitori is a $30 set rather than whatever skewer you want. Service time wasn't bad at all, received everything in reasonable time. Did not feel like it was exceptionally slow, and was out of there within an hour and a half or so, which felt reasonable with what we ordered.
Taste was amazing, although prices are high for the quantity you get. Yakitori alone will not fill you up, but I got a Yakitori set ($30) + Wagyu Fried Rice ($40) and was full afterwards. The fried rice is easily one of the best I've ever had.
I plan on returning next time I get the chance.

Teppo is a very intimate and authentic Japanese atmosphere. It has a small and quiet dining space which allows customers to really feel as if they have left America for a short period of time. The food does not stray far from this ideal, so be prepared to try something new when you go if you are not used to authentic Japanese food. For those who are adventurous and well versed in their cuisines, you will be delighted by some of the best sushi grade fish and meats there is to offer. The fried rice is huge wake up call for your local Chinese delivery place and the dessert wont disappoint either. It should be mentioned that Teppo is priced to reflect the quality of food, therefore you should expect to spend a generous amount whenever you go.

I have had sushi all over the US, and this place honestly serves the best sushi I have ever had. The texture, temperature, and taste are perfect. The tuna just melts in your mouth. The prices are slightly higher than I pay most places, but worth the high quality and fine service. Highly recommend this place to those who love high quality sushi.

Delicious! Yummy bites, love the chefs choice option. The sushi quality was wonderful, definitely recommend trying. We did the yakitori, mostly white meat bites, but they were all great.

This is one of my favorite places in Dallas! The chef is always on the grill cooking everything just perfect the way he wants it to come out, putting all his love into every single dish that is made. I love doing the tasting of all the different grill items the meatball, the tongue my absolute favorite is the liver. They have a wonderful sake and all their fresh grilled fish is absolutely amazing… A bit pricey but worth the splurge. I highly recommend sitting at the bar and watching the magic happen! They have AMAZING sushi And things like plain rolls like the negitoro Are out of this world where anywhere else I would not get it. Just their salmon and yellowtail and tuna alone are so divine. This is one of those restaurants you truly feel like there is a heart and a home cooking in every bite.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I have never been disappointed. The quality is always fantastic, and I love the atmosphere. If you want great sushi and yakitori, you can't best Teppo.

The omakase dinner was excellent.
The subtle eggplant truffle soup started the night with a creamy earthy tone. The sashimi was gentle, tasty and paired with real fresh wasabi. The Yakitori morsels were packed with flavors of umami. The sushi was exceptional, deep in flavors and textures. The green tea pairing was unique and refreshing. The wagu steak was fun to prepare and buttery beyond imagination. The dessert was pure and phenomenal.
Including our visit to Japan, this meal was one of the best Japanese dinners.

Wasn't thrilled with recent menu changes - fewer options and more limitations than before - but the food was still amazing. The chefs are fantastic, and service and atmosphere are wonderful. Feels very authentic. Honestly, ordering the omakase (chef's choice) would be the ticket. Expensive, but the best possible experience of what they have to offer.
