Review Henk's European Deli & Black Forest Bakery - Dallas

Dawn Carr
It was a busy Saturday morning but our party of seven was seated and poured coffee immediately. Waitress and her helper were excellent, unfortunately I do not know there names. But I was a newbie with a table full of regulars that included a priest, Father Joseph. That info will let them know who servers were. Food was excellent. My breakfast included eggs, sausage, hash browns and these two waffles served with strawberries and sprinkled with confectioners sugar. YUMMY! I will go back when I'm in Dallas again. My only complaint would be that I was extremely warm the entire time I was seated at the table. Other than that it was perfect.

Food is alright! The reuben was delicious and priced well. The rest was okay. Service was friendly. Very cute inside

I had the Hot Amsterdam sandwich which is ham and Gouda cheese. The food was delicious and I will certainly visit again!

Delicious breakfast while we waited for our car to charge! Hidden gem for sure. We tried the ham and Gouda cheese omelette with fried potatoes and biscuits and the two egg plate with bacon crispy and waffles with strawberries. We were too full to try any cake but next time for sure.

Always love the food here and deli/store is great too! I was able to get what I needed to make this at home for my wife's birthday with the sausages from the deli!

I really enjoyed this place. I love the tuna melt and vegetable soup. The Reuben is really good too. I love how they have different treats from different countries. It is such a cute store. The bakery is good all their food is made to order the different chocolates they have are something you definitely have to try🍫

One of the neat places in Dallas for a great breakfast or lunch with a German touch. The Polish breakfast (order it with bratwurst) is delicious. For a dessert to take check out the bakery. The chocolate mousse cake is fantastic…but the other selections are tasty as well. Also, the German mustard selection is outstanding. Pick up some German sausage made by Seggis. They are excellent.

Great family owned restaurant! Been going for many years. Food is authentic eastern European, consistently delish! Service is quick, friendly and laid back. The Hungarian spicy paprika sausage is my go to, with sauerkraut and German potato salad and freshly drafted pilsner. Yum 😋. Also an amazing bakery attached . Highly recommend!

Really awesome traditional European food in Dallas. Loves the horseradish and mustard condiments and bread & pretzels that come with the meal. I had the Bavarian chicken- so good

Not just an amazing restaurant (I liked the Berner Brat), also a unique convenience store (seriously more convenient when you think about how far you would need to go to find the European items they sell).

The best cakes in Dallas. They are amazing at baking and I wish they can go back to pre Covid hours of operation. Still I love the bakery! Their Swiss cake and chocolate mouse are my favs!

Placed an order for an 8inch round (serves 10-12, $34) chocolate strawberry. Cake pick up was orderly. The folks bringing out the cakes are on top of everyone's orders. When you pick up they ask if you'd like any writing on the cake or extra chocolate shavings (for the chocolate strawberry cake). It's a small space so they make sure to keep the line moving. The chocolate strawberry cake is suuuuuuuper moist, overly sweet & layered with a generous amount of cream & strawberries. It was a huge hit during game night with friends!

BEST CAKES AND PASTRIES! The best pastries, cakes, and assortment of sweets at your hometown deli are a delectable treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. The pastries are perfectly flaky, the cakes are moist and rich, and the array of sweets offers a delightful variety of flavors and textures. A true culinary delight for the community.

Their cakes are fantastic, love the little store. German food is not really my thing so I cannot say if it's good or not, but I love Dutch foods and this does not compare to the Dutch food I'm used to. Croquettes that I ate at home as much better, but is a different style

You can smell the bakery from the parking lot. And like a cartoon I was transported off my feet by the nose into the place. Great ambiance and diner was packed. I was there to browse and everyone was kind. Picked up a few cookies & pastries which were all delicious. I will be back to explore the diner and store section for more treats!

I like coming to this place for authentic German food. It has a small cafe type atmosphere with a bakery of yummy confections. There is also a small but high quality of goods for purchase from Europe including wine, cheese, candy, and popular foods from Germany, Scandinavia, Ireland and other countries. It is usually crowded, but that just means it’s good.

This place looked questionable from the outside. BUT - really delicious food! I was impressed by the fact that it was served quickly despite the number of customers.
