Excellent food!!! We visited last year in a group of 35 seniors receiving individual checks for the most part and the staff was excellent in serving us and be sooo efficient and that is not easy in such a large group👏👏👏👏
Best tapas place in Dallas! I've been for girls night, date night and happy hour - delicious and fun every time.
Split the charcuteria and cheese board (be sure to include the chicken liver mousse!), mussels, artichokes and mushrooms (scallops are AMAZING when available)
Most tender octopus you've ever had and the toasted fideos don't disappoint.
Paella to share leaves you with a small box for later, if you're lucky
Incredible Spanish wine list and long list of sherry & port
Casa Rubia is rocking it right now! We just had the best service we've had in Dallas (thank you, Jesus as in hey-Seuss, our server). Forget the menu, just ask to be surprised, your server can choose a well balanced meal. Some plates are significantly heartier. We tried 8 dishes this time and all were delightful, we couldn't pick a favorite. Until we tried Chef Omar's version of a cassoulet. Now, I'm not a beans person. No matter - this dish was heaven. It was so soulful and warm it was the perfect comfort food, I think it could make Leslie Brenner tear up. I'm still thinking about it. Next time it's cold and rainy I will crave this dish more than Pho!
Tucked into the far end of West Dallas' Trinity Groves, chef Omar Flores is churning out confidence by the plate at James Beard-praised Casa Rubia. It's perfect for date night, as reaching a little bit outside your comfort zone is definitely sexy, and plate after plate of beautiful food reminds you that life is delicious, so take a bite.
We love Tapas! Having had authentic, incredibly delicious tapas in Spain we are proud and very excited that Dallas has a tapas spot that does authentic tapas justice. We started with their Red Sangria that had hints of plum. It was well-balanced and not too sweet – very refreshing! Some the highlights of our meal were the scallops with trumpet mushrooms; the maitake mushrooms with smoked pear butter, farm egg, and manchego; and the cripsy artichokes with Meyer lemon, Fresno chile Mojama, and saffron aioli. Please note, the portions are tiny (Hello, tapas! We heard people next to us complaining about the size) but each bite delivers a burst of flavor, so eat slowly and savor the delicious moments! Not only were the dishes quite tasty, they were also beautiful. We can’t wait to come back here and try their Paella and cheese plate. It’s also a fantastic spot for a date!
Yes...it's true, they have good food here. Spanish style restaurant with tapas dishes 'inspired' by Spanish cuisine. Great flavor and care in every dish. I especially like the ambiance because it feels casual, yet it could also somehow work as a special occasion type of place. You typically do not need a reservation for a party of 2, which is a plus for those spontaneous evenings
Tapas to perfection. When it comes to dining Trinity Groves offers a lot of choices. Casa Rubia is one you need to put on the top of the list. Dining with friends you can share the plates and get a lot more of the tastes. Of all things and believe me there are a lot of taste treats, the cauliflower was awesome. Service is top notch and it is not disappointing. They treat you as if you are the only table there.
Knowledgeable staff makes a world of a difference in going down the menu. Loved the Bocadillo choice, it has some of their highest valued meat, alongside some great cheese & dripped in honey. The tapas are varied enough to have a delicious amount of combinations. Although the sample platters might seem pricey, they are well worth it to get your taste buds ready & oriented for the food to come.
Absolutely phenomenal - imberico, crispy artichokes and short ribs were some of our favorites. Great drinks all around as well. Atmosphere both inside and outside was relaxing and inviting. Can't wait to visit again.
Delicious tapas in a great atmosphere. Trinity Groves is always a fun place to get dinner, and Casa Rubia brings a great experience for a great price. You have to try the pork short rib, it was fall off the bone delicious!
Great tapas selection, bar options and service. Very lively crowd. Gets a bit loud and you can't hear when trying to have a conversion. But overall the food and drinks were good.
Update 7/31/15
NEW HAPPY HOUR!
Wow... amazing deals and incredible food and drinks. I have always loved Casa Rubia but could not afford to come more than once a year because even though it's well worth the price, it's still pricey. Well now they have an option for people like me and I appreciate it so much that I will now be a regular customer to show my appreciation. They have a whole separate menu for bar bites and they are very tasty and filling, more like comfort foods. You can get drunk and full of food for the same price it would cost at a cheesey place like Olive Garden or Chilis. I should not even be telling you about the happy hour so you don't get in my way but what can i say i'm just that nice... lol.. also looking to help out the restaurant in any way possible. I cannot remember the specifics of the bar bites but suffice it to say they are all very tasty.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
-Alcachofas; Crispy artichokes with meyer lemon and a saffron aoli. 5/5
-Fideua; Razor clams with burnt leek aoli. 4/5
-Cordero; Lamb belly with pomegranate molasses. 5/5
-Erizos; Sea urchin on rustic bread with lardo 4/5
-Aceitunas; Spiced olives in oil 3/5 (Best olives I've had but still just olives)
-Pulpo A La Plancha; Octopus 4/5 (I did not think potatoes fit in the dish)
-Leche y Miel; 4/5 (subtle flavors i wish were stronger)
All in all i loved the place and I will be back to try other dishes. The atmosphere is nice, the staff very friendly and the place is new so they need your support.
*A note for the restaurant; your plates do not photograph well, please reconsider the plates you use.
Great Tapas! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good cocktails and and wine selection. Make sure to try the Spanish Pancakes!
Can't say enough about this place. It is always delicious. Everything on the menu is good. By far my favorite tapas restaurant in DFW.
Excellent menu of very fresh and tasty tapas. Enjoyed a variety of plates including vegetables and shrimp. Vegetarian friendly.
