Review Grimaldi's Pizzeria - Dallas

Pete Munos
This is my second time here while in Dallas on business. The food is awesome. You give some places in NYC a good run for their money. I was in and out of NYC over the past year and prefer Grimaldi's. A taste of authentic Italian pizza in the heart of Texas. I need to find an excuse to visit outside of work. The staff made me feel right at home even though I got in 45 minutes before closing. Thank you very much for this.

My experience it took a little to long to get our pizza but pizza was good. My opinion over price for pizza... from flavor to cost taste does not out weight the cost... but it would be a nice place for couples to go to if not been.. so give this place a try you might live.. but unfortunately for me I will not go back... price ticket was like 170 for 5 people... fyi

I have a genuine appreciation for the kiln-baked thin-crust pizza they serve here. It's a thoughtful touch that they provide wine recommendations for each pizza right on the menu. I'd consider it a significant enhancement to the experience if they were to add grilled chicken wings to their menu as well.

Tried chef specials Margherita pizza and Bruschetta Trio. Have to say the pizza is world class and must try. So far one of my fav pizza spot in Dallas. In the Bruschetta Trio, “marinated artichoke” was my personal favorite, roasted red pepper was delicious too and “tomato & basil” was okay. They have variety of selection for alcoholic drinks too. For desserts tried the tiramisu and NY style cheesecake. The cheesecake (with raspberry) was outstanding. Overall a great experience and recommend this place 👍

Husband and son took us today for lunch... OMG the bruschetta and white pizza is to die for. Our waiter amazingly fast and friendly. Most definitely suggest this place to all pizza lovers❤️

We are from out of town and came to this location and I just want to say this is the best location hands down! The pizza came out delicious and April was amazing, and gave us the best service ever! I will be coming back to this location for sure!

Alright! I know what your thinking, how can you give Grimaldis, out of ALL places a 4 out of 5 stars! Anyone from Dallas/Uptown area understands this just isn’t normal. I can assure you it wasn’t because of the food! Let me explain! The food was amazing as always! I work from home and thought I’d try the Grimaldis in West Village for a nice work day away from home. I deeply wanted some pizza, a nice Caesar salad and maybe an appetizer for the table. I did just that, we tried the bruschetta board- which I highly recommend! The 3 variety of flavors blend very well together & pair nicely with a smooth afternoon glass of wine! My favorite pizza is the Margarita, it’s always cooked to perfection and gives the satisfaction of “the pizza” taste you crave without the overwhelming amount of fat and grease you taste at regular places! It was a beautiful day and very quiet on inside during lunch. My work day here was perfect 🤩

This was my first time going to this location or any Grimaldi's location anywhere. The place was not crowded, we went between the lunch and dinner hours. The place was clean and the waitress was really friendly and inviting. We orders a meatball pizza, a cheese pizza, and a pepperoni pizza. While waiting for the pizza to arrive an elderly member in our party fell ill and had to go outside to their outdoor sitting area. The staff was very attentive during this time, making sure everything was ok. Everything did turn out to be ok and we proceeded to enjoy some really good pizza and salad. 2 thumbs up to the staff. Definitely recommend this location.

Preston did a wonderful job with service and making recommendations!! He was very thoughtful throughout our meal and checked in to make sure the experience was top notch from seating us to serving dessert!! P.S. try the banana cheesecake. It’s perfect
Lorena Correa
Absolutely amazing service from Preston- deserves a raise. We had the Pesto pizza and Arrugala pizza and finished the night with banana chocolate cheesecake- highly recommend!! Pet friendly and we also got to meet the manager Donna Dawson who is lovely and super welcoming! Safe to say we will be returning.

Love the aged Italian music. Cheyenne is a wonderful waiter. The Don was delicious! The West Village is pretty as well.

Grimaldis brick over coal fired pizza in Dallas is absolutely fantastic. Hand tossed dough and great ingredients make an absolute killer pizza. The giant calzones 12 to 18 inches come with mozzarella and ricotta cheese, then you add whatever toppings you want and it comes with a side of marinara. It's a very rich and flavorful combination. The cheese pizza was excellent, sliced mozzarella cheese on first and then splashed with a great pizza sauce, cooked to perfection! Definitely satisfied this fat kid!
D
This is the best calzone I've ever tasted! The cheese is creamy and stretchy, and the sauce is very good. The server was kind and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I had a wonderful date night.

First time in and I have to say, I enjoyed every bite of my meal in Grimaldi’s. Very tasty and well prepared and you can chose among many menu options, and some Italian classics. Both Our waiter (Angel) and manager (Jesus) were AWESOME 👏🏽 and VERRY helpful / knowledgeable about the menu offering with great recommendations. you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Grimaldi’s is now my favorite pizza spot 100% recommended. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Made reservations for a large group of people and they were very accommodating when I needed to add three more. The food came out quickly and efficiently despite our large group. Celiacs take note--the gluten free crust is made in the same oven as the rest of the pizzas but the server was very careful to point that out. I enjoyed a tasty salad and did not have a reaction (and who can go wrong on half price wine night?).
Shanda Riley
My husband and I love this place!!! The pizza is delicious and they have awesome customer service. I highly recommend Grimaldi’s to any pizza lover.
Juan C. Romero
The Pizza is excelent! The qualitu pretty good, the price is outragious expensive: I a small pizza of Ham and Chicken, a beer and a Pepsi for 33 dollars! That's outrageous expensive! I won't go back to that place, it's a holdup!
Kit Elliott
Love this place... great atmosphere, great location, great service, great food. You really can't go wrong here unless you're an idiot... which we do have a lot of idiots in Dallas.
Denise Harman
Nice spot to eat with kids. They brought out pizza dough for our 4 and 2 year old grandchildren to play with while they waited, and their pizza came out early so they could get a head start on eating. Quite thoughtful.
Nancy Basaldua
Absolutely AMAZING pizza! Love the thin crispy crust that doesn’t make you feel stuffed! Had the traditional white with add ons and can’t say enough about how good it was! Plus we had $3/Stella’s to top it off!!
Sarah Cazares
This is our favorite place to bring the family for pizza, the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. We absolutely love it!
John Son
This place has THE best gourmet pizza and the salads are fresh as well! Great atmosphere!
Fadi Tabbara
Very sad. We loved this place. Our pizza arrived burned, when we showed them, they offered to replace our pizza but still waited 25 min without compensation. Why did you waist 25 min of my time? Why my time is worthless....
Christina Stark Fussell
We had a great night! Our 7 year old twin boys were given dough to play with while we waited on our food. It was a busy night, but the service and food were great!!
Lee Williams
If you like bland pizza, you’ll love Grimaldi’s. The sauce was virtually tasteless. My test for a good pizza joint is the Margherita. This was a truly disappointing pizza. All the mozzarella on the table couldn’t save this disaster.
Rico Rossi
Worst experience I have ever had at this location. I question if there was a manager on duty. There was one table that several were over served alcohol and they were disruptive to everyone's meal around them.
Teresa Lucke Lombardi
Service and food were very good. Went with husband and son. The three of us could not finish a small and a personal pizza. The small alone would have been enough.

The next stop in Dallas was to Grimaldi’s Pizzeria. Located on McKinney Ave in Uptown Dallas, Grimaldi’s is dishing out NY style pizza by way of the brick oven. The dining room expresses the family history with pictures covering the walls which I love. Using only the freshest ingredients and a secret recipe for their dough, it’s no wonder why Grimaldi’s has award winning pies. See how they ranked.

People told me the pizza was really good, and it's possible we came on an "off" night. Left disappointed... Over cooked burned pizza. I heard many people rant and rave about how wonderful this place was, but I will probably never come back.
Tim Crafton
Great new york style pizza. Crust is the right amount of crispy and the pies come with the perfect amount of sauce. I always do pepperoni and the have a slight kick which compliments the pie.
Niraj
Atmosphere is great for a date! Music isn't too loud but can get busy quick. The pizza is great and so it the wine menu. I recommend going on a weekday night because it can get crowded on the weekends.
Alyssa Jean
Grimaldi's was good, but it wasn't the best pizza I've had. I got the pepperoni personal pizza and my friend got the plain cheese personal pizza and we went around 2:15 for lunch. The waitress described it as New York style pizza, but it wasn't really like any pizza I ever had in NY, although it was really good. The service was pretty slow and inattentive, which was a bummer, but I wouldn't mind coming back for dinner sometime.
Rebecca Jean Moritz
Alyssa Jean and I stopped by this authentic looking, New York style pizzeria for lunch on a Saturday. We both got a personal sized pizza, which is a little bigger than your average sized pizza. I couldn't be more please with how the pizza tasted. Thin crust, but thick enough to get a mouthful of flavor without being too overwhelmed. Definitely recommend this place.
Culinary Stuff
I'm just a sucker for great pizza. This was one of those. Thin crust, just enough char, flavorful sauce and pepperoni... All that I need to be happy.

Although it's a chain, this place is doing things right.

Looking for New York's Style Pizza?. Best found to date. The crust is thin, hand thrown and wood fire roasted. The red sauce is perfection - tangy and smooth. The little globs of heaven - the mozzarella was to die for. Slightly salty, perfectly melted.YUM. The sausage was not your Jimmy Dean pork, nor was the pepperoni from Hormel. Both were artisan bites of deliciousness. The small salad was more than enough for wife and I. All in all a pleasant dining experience.

Real Pizza NY style. Thanks for improving service. I had a bad experience, the first occasion that you visit this restaurant, perhaps by luck or that day there was a lot of work, but his manager speak apologized and asked me again, back with my family and a friend who came to visit the city , a true connoisseur of pizza. It truly was an extraordinary experience my Amiga'm in love with the restaurant and the city. The very tasty salads and pizza like NY or Roma, really thanks again and I'm sure all these pizzas I recommend this is the best cone NY in Dallas ...
Karl Bailey
Real NY Pizza. If you like authentic New York pizza, this is the place. Coal fired brick pizza oven, slices of mozarella instead of the shredded stuff you get on the chain pizza joints. The meats could be a little better but overall this is a great place to enjoy real New York pizza.
Ashley Rosenberg
Thin Crust Pizza. I love Grimaldi's because they make thin crust pizza. It's a lot more authentic (to Italian, which I like) than most chain pizza places are. You can build your own pizza-they have an assortment of delicious toppings and pizza sizes to choose from. You can also get your pizza on whole wheat crust if you'd like. I always have a great meal at Grimaldi's.
Jessica
Okay I guess. My salad did not taste fresh at all and pizza was soggy. May have chosen bad combo of toppings.
Jacque O
Tastes like pizza.... Food: It's hard not to like pizza so I thought this place was decent. But having been blown away by other pizzerias in New York, I didnt feel like it lived up to its big city name. According to the management, the pizza dough is made with water that is calibrated to have the exact same chemical composition as the water used by the founding restaurant in Brooklyn so that every location in the country can achieve the same flavor that made them famous in NY.

Atmosphere: they tried to recreate the gritty new york feel with the brick walls and the cheesy accent pieces but in the brand new building it came off as fake and forced to me. On the upside, it's a good casual place for dinner with a large group, kids and family.

Service: good

Parking: street or parking garage
Jason Craddock
Love it.. Thin crust, brick fired oven, beer, what's not to love. The pizza is nice thin crust, not burned but nicely scorched. The cheese was nicely melted, the sauce was perfect - not slathered on and not too thick. The service was really good. The beer selection was ok, but you're here for pizza, right? All in all, a great experienced and some of the best pizza in Dallas.
Johnny 2x's
Myself and 3 friends gave this joint a try and weren't dissappointed. Good crust, toppings and service. I would have liked more sauce and cheese on mine but still a good pie.
Pamela
Won't ever go back. On Saturday, my husband, four year old daughter and I went to your location in Dallas. We were seated and our server came and said he'd be back with drinks promptly. We waited a total of almost twenty minutes and no server. And take note that the restaurant was practically empty. All the servers were around and not busy. The manager even walked by several times and did not acknowledge us. Terrible service

Always Great. I have never had a bad experience at Grimaldi's! The new Park Lane location is great too!!

Good pizza. Grimaldi's is from New York, under the Brooklyn Bridge of all places, but it's not what locals up there call New York pizza (or so they all like to tell me anyway). They are unique there and here I guess.

I compare it to Cane Russo or Cavalli for brick oven pizza around, although the crust is thicker. Good sauce, good toppings, you start with the basic pie base (red sauce, white sauce, pesto etc.) then add toppings. I enjoyed mine and glad I only got the personal size (12") because I could have kept eating a large (18") if it was there. They serve the pizza in it's pan on a raised platform though: may be practical for them but the pizza cools down rapidly unless you are a fast eater. Crust turns stiff and tasteless because of it.
Price? Considering the neighborhood rent rates, it's comparable to the other two I mentioned above. If you want delivery prices, I guess you need to be calling PapaDominoHut instead of reading this review alone at home.

Excellent pizza!! We will certainly return. Came all the way from Mansfield because of the reviews... Certainly lived up to the comments!

You think you know Pizza!. If you think you know what makes a good pizza you need to get to Grimaldi's! Several years ago my girl and I made the mistake of going to Lombardi's in the lower eastside of NYC and were deeply disappointed. All because we didn't want to make the trip via subway to Brooklyn to go to Grimaldi's. Well today I didn't have to take the subway, or make the trip to NYC to have the best pizza EVER, it's right here in Dallas!. The crust was a work of art! It's just the right amount of crispy, just enough chewy. The sauce isn't to sweet, nor to spicy, you almost don't know it's there because of all the other flavors your discovering. We got a 14" small pizza with extra basil and fire roasted red peppers (more than enough for two people). The caprese salad was also perfection. Can't wait till the next time we go. It's everything you want when you go out to eat (trying to figure out how soon you can return, and what else you want to try). Thanks to our waiter Michael who explained all the dishes to us. To finish- "the little details that mean so much"-Thank you for the Southern Hospitality-the little hostess held the door open for us when we left. Have a Wonderful day !!! Sweet...

NY Pizza, Thin CRUST at its FINEST!! NYP-D. My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed a chianti & beer over a delicious mushroom & meatball pie that would've done any pizza cravin' NY'er proud. Even us Red Sox Luvas liked it!
Scrumptous brick oven fired crust. Perfect blend of creamy, stringy mozzarella cheese & tomato sauce. Cooked piping hot off the bricks. Aimed to please. Lesha, our waitress, was attentive as she dealt with the rush of downtown business lunch time diners. We'd go back in a NY minute. Great PIZZA & good value.
Chris
FANTASTIC!! Delicious, attentive, and a million other surpurlatives! If NYC pizza is really like this, I may be the size of Texas when I get back from the big apple! I'm getting hungry just typing this!

Delicioso!. Best pizza anywhere. The original in Brooklyn is still better, but this will fulfill my NY pizza fix any day. Love love love it.

When you're feeling lazy but want to go out to eat. Be lazy here! Not pretentious at all. Roll up in your non-Dall-ass attire (jeans & t-shirt) and enjoy good food here. Not usually too crowded when I go either... The pizza is AWESOME. AWESOME. great topping options besides the usual.. sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, etc...

Moved here from NY in April of 2010. My father, 2 uncles, and brother in law own pizzeria/ restaurants. I lived and worked in Brooklyn for 6 years and ate at the original Grimaldi's in Brooklyn. I have one thing to say. This is THE only place in the entire state that you should go for pizza. Everyone other place should be banned. Perfect, authetentic NY pizza. You will not be disappointed.
Tim Crouch
Ate here last night. Good pizza, good scotch. Big Al was a great server. White pizza was tasty. Pepperoni was real good. Red sauce more sweet than we like though.

Just like in Brooklyn. About 5 years ago we went to NYC for a family vacation and like I do everything I had to search for the best Pizza and the result was Grimaldi's in Brooklyn. And it was the best pizza I had ever had. So I was quite excited when I found there was one in Dallas on a recent trip. It was just as good as what we got in Brooklyn. The biggest differences were that the wait staff in Dallas was friendly and you could pay with a credit card.

We went to Campisi's Egyptian Lounge a few days ago and it is excellent pizza also, but not as good as Grimaldi's. They use fresh mozzarella slices, not shredded, the Italian sausage was fresh and uncooked until they cooked the pizza and the sauce is added last as an accent not a base like on most pizza's

If you are looking for authentic New York "Pie" then this is the place to go!

Pizza Crust Perfection.. Grimaldi's pizza is amazing. The crust is what really sticks out as awesome for me. It was crispy without being gum-slicing and the coal-fired oven adds such a nice flavor without being over-powering. The ham is awesome and the Italian sausage tastes like it's right out of my mom's kitchen. I love the cheese they use. It's not your typical shredded mozzarella, but rather slices of heaven. The sauce is perfect with just the right amount of sweet. The wait staff was very friendly and fast. Basically, Grimaldi's is definitely out of this world!
MaxZ
Great Pizza. Please come to Frisco or Plano. We need you!
Jason
Best Pizza Anywhere!!. This is, without a doubt, the best pizza I've ever had.

I haven't had any toppings I didn't like, but I personally prefer the basic pepperoni and cheese.

The brick oven cooks the crust to crispy perfection, and the cheese and sauce is as good as it gets.

It should be noted that although it makes good carry out, by the time you get it home, the crust is likely to be soggy (not a problem if you're dining in).

Service is always good and the uptown location is perfect. Situated just east of West Village, you get all the convenience without the nightmare parking problems.
Hafester
Woah. I friggin love this place!

Delicious NY Style Pizza. This is definitely one of the best pizzas I've had in a while! The house salad (we ordered a small, thanks to our savvy waiter) was delicious, with all sorts of fresh vegetables. For the pizza, we ordered a pepperoni, mushroom, jalepeno, artichoke heart delight. The staff is friendly, it's a fun atmosphere, and the food is fantastic. Swing by whenever you're in a New York State of Mind. . .
JW
The BEST Pizza in Dallas!!!. Grimaldi's is true NY Pizza. They duplicate the NY tap water to get the dough to have the right consistency and taste. Everything is homemade or shipped in from the east coast. This tastes exactly like my favorite NY pizza (Angelo's on 57th). Just like Angelo's, they use a coal oven pizza to get the right heat to make it all work. The salads are also great and huge (a small salad can feed 3).
Ryan
Great food. Try the grilled chicken pizza and the great selection of beer and wine. We enjoy the draft peroni and Coppola Pinot noir. You can also pick up a bottle of your favorite wine next door at cork and eat your pizza outside. Great place to bring your family.
TJ
Great!!!. One of the best pizzas in Dallas. Caesar Salad is also very good!

Pick a dough, calzone, regular, garlic or pesto, and a size, then add the toppings of your choice.

Grimaldi’s pizza has been here for a couple of years now and it is a legendary name in pizza. If you compare pizza to the mafia, think of Grimaldi’s as being one of the “five families” of pizza. The best of the best in terms of reputation. They are originally from New York where a few places used coal burning ovens to give their pies a distinct char and flavor. So when I heard Grimaldi’s was expanding into Dallas I was beside myself. I couldn’t wait. I was there twice during the first week they opened. I was very excited. I haven’t had true New York pizza in quite awhile. I think that maybe where I get off track with this pizza. Don’t get me wrong, the flavors are light, tasty, and blend well. But I found the crust limp and almost chewy and the cheese also chewy. Above is the pie I got to go recently and

The pizza is delicious. The sauce has an excellent flavor, and there's not too much cheese.

You must go. This is what pizza should be. I got a veggie one with Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Mushrooms, and Artichokes!
