Review Campisi's Restaurant - Dallas

The pizza at this place is amazing! I had pepperoni with jalapeños. It was hot and fresh and thin crust (less carbs). It is really dark on one side of the restaurant, but you can sit on the side by the street with lots of natural light.

The service is always excellent, and the food is always fresh and flavorful. I recently had the opportunity to dine at Campisi's, and I was very impressed with the cheese bread and lasagna. The cheese bread was perfectly crispy and had a generous amount of cheese, and the lasagna was flavorful and filling. I also enjoyed the Campisi's Special pizza, which is topped with sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Campisi's. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. I would definitely recommend Campisi's to anyone looking for a great Italian meal in Dallas. Greg and Mitch were both excellent servers. 10/10

Pizza was amazing! Chicken Parmesan sandwich was good. Love the fries. Food was ready quick.

The cuisine was wonderful ...I always suggest the side of meatballs to start with ..pars perfect with a great cocktail. The Staff was friendly and helpful...they were under a bit of construction at the time I decided to have my reprieve from the outside world and I was impressed with the way they coordinated the obstacles and still maintained optimum service and quality.

The food has pretty good with a very authentic Italian flavor. The artichoke appetizer was amazing, a little salad is served as a side with the combo plate. My children and I ordered two combo plates. Which were great, however each combo was filled with one meat-ball, a portion of lasagna, “1” ravioli and a bunch of spaghetti under the meat tomato sauce. It would be better if in the plate’s presentation It would be easy to differentiate between the three pastas. Also if it could bring at least 3 raviolis and less spaghetti to balance it. :) BUT The portion was reasonable balance with the price, and with all the food mentioned above we were 4 people very satisfied. The place is great. The restaurant is located in the middle of downtown with a beautiful view to the Giant Eyeball monument. Our waitress was very nice, however the service needs improvement from ALL the waiters in general. Maybe working on becoming a little more friendly, polite and get trained to not be so obvious in their biased behavior to make of this a better place.

Googled best pizza, and they came up. I walked 2 blocks and glad I did. Best pizza! 🍕 staff very friendly and inviting. I'm going back to sit and try more.

It's a Dallas classic that is still doing a great job. The Shrimp Scampi appetizer was really good, super garlicky but the shrimp were perfectly cooked. Pizza was spot on thin crust as Campisi's does it and all around a good meal with excellent service.

Honestly, loved this place! My server Paul was top notch!!! Excellent Mules! Crazy delish fried ravioli! Greek pizza was really really good and loved that there was an outdoor patio! You'll see tons of dogs walking the ally and the patio faces the giant eyeball sculpture!

Ordered a pizza online to go. The pizza was really good and worth the price. I wish I would of dined in. I will definitely dine in the next time I am in town. When I picked up my pizza the staff were very courteous and the atmosphere looked really great inside.

Staff was absolutely amazing. I’m from out of town so they took the time to recommend places for my husband and I! Very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. Lasagna was so good!!!!!! Amazing service, go here if no where else!

Just gorgeous and lovely! Especially, barbecue chicken pizza is really wonderful!

You can't beat old school, long established real Italian food and Campisi's is it!

Justin was amazing! Great service! I suggested this restaurant for my team dinner and they loved it! We are actually order lunch for our team for one day. I have been a loyal customer since 1995! From the original to the downtown one to the one in Fort Worth! Thank you!

My Shrimp Scampi pasta was good. My partners lasagna was ok. I could taste too much Oregano. Huge servings and we had a great young lady helping us. If you don’t already live Downtown, take an Uber there because parking is a mess. Also there is no guest wifi as is suggested in your settings.

Great pizza! Delicious drinks. Wonderful accommodating service. Beautiful atmosphere.

The food was good. Our appetizers were all good and everyone at the table enjoyed their dinner. Our server was fantastic.

Honestly, have to say that I was quite disappointed in this location. The parking was really hard to find, and we were not even greeted. We sat down at a table, only to find out that we needed to stand at the counter to order and pay before sitting down. Nothing like the Mockinbird location And the service was not there at all. Honestly, I don’t even know why I left a tip because no one helped with any kind of service, except for the person taking our money at the register. It was quite odd to say the least not what I was expecting From a Campisi’s location.

I ordered delivery from here back in February but forgot to review the place until I just remembered how awful it was. Ordered a medium pizza, salad, and kids ravioli. The salad was beyond disgusting and that was after they had to remake and send it out again because the first time they forgot the meat and cheese....they sent out a salad with just wilted lettuce, olives, and enough dressing to drown the whole mess in!!! The dressing was flavorless. The pizza mediocre. The kids ravioli was fine. I would highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

Friendly staff, really yummy food and super fast service! Also really accommodating for my gluten free request for my meal!

we called for delivery. the food was bland. we got 1 napkin apiece, 1 salt packet and 1 pepper packet. my angel hair with garlic and oil was really spaghettini and it was dry (not enough sauce, not able to moisten the pasta). the bread was cold and there was no butter. the garden salad was only iceberg lettuce. we were asked if we wanted the food delivered to the room or to meet in the lobby. we asked to have it delivered to the room. when the delivery man got to the hotel he called and said I had to come to the lobby. why did they even ask me? not a fan. $30 gone.

Disappointed with my meal and beverage. Ordered the Sauteed Shrimp Scampi. The pasta was bland and so full of butter and oil that it pooled on the plate. Topped with bread crumbs that were mush because of the extra butter. The margarita was lime juice and Grand Marinier. No tequila, very little ice. I was with four other people and they enjoyed their meals a great deal. Guess I just ordered the wrong dish and beverage.

It was a Wednesday night and even though it was late, there was not enough wait staff for the line of people who wanted to eat there and the many empty tables. The food was good and it was a nice quiet atmosphere so that our family was able to enjoy our visit over dinner. The bar staff who took our food order and served us did a great job.

Excellent food and service! We love this restaurant. We had our son’s rehearsal dinner here with about 100 people. Everyone had a great time. The best pizza and lasagna ever! Tastes homemade.
Ellie Dahle
Excellent food, excellent service! Two friends had the combo pasta plate, I had the chicken spinach alfredo pizza, sooooo good! Would definitely visit again.
Matt Purvis
Eat here all the time. Food is more than superb. The service is even better! Larry at the bar always takes the best care of me. If I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would!

We went there for a holiday party with the Heroes, Cops, and Kid's, we had an amazing meal and the staff are amazing too! I love this place!

First time here and our experience was wonderful! Hostess greeted us and seated us immediately, even though it was very busy Saturday night with several large parties seated near us. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive! He explained Campisi's history to us and knew the menu front to back. He was able to help with my dietary needs and recommended several items. The food was amazing! I'm positive I could survive off of the sausage and peppers alone. The manager checked in on us towards the end of our meal and treated us to a dessert after learning it was our Anniversary wknd. I'm disappointed that I've lived in DFW for over 20years and hadn't been here sooner. We cannot wait to come back with the kids!

We met four other friends here for dinner yesterday, before attending a show at Majestic Theater. The service staff were all friendly and our food was delivered quickly. I had the Mediterranean Salad and a small, delicious California Pizza accompanied by a glass of California Merlot. My husband had the lasagna with meat sauce and he said he loved the flavor and the lighter texture of it. I haven't checked with my other friends, but everyone seemed to enjoy their dinners, too.
John Brent
Great customer service and better food! I highly recommend this place!

Was a great option with a large group for a late lunch. Everyone loved their food and service was very good!

We've been fans of The Egyptian for more than 60 years. Pizza, Italian specialties and the atmosphere are reminders of growing up around Dallas. There are many locations for Campisis but for the real thing go to the first. We took some new friends there recently and it was same great food we remembered.

Oh Campisi. Your meat lasagna was pretty repulsive, your service was cold and half hearted, and your food overall was mediocre to poor. Such a shame.
FGee
Had the ravioli cheese and meat. Very good sauce and well prepared. Sat at the bar had a nice glass of wine and some good ravioli with some good Italian wine.
Remona Jabar
Delicious and Friendly. they makes the best fried chicken in the city. you get a warm feeling when you walk in nonetheless. One that comes with good food and good people. The Italian Sub is perfection...

I took the whole family back to Campisi’s on Sunday AND BOY AM I GLAD I DID!<br/><br/>This was the Campisi’s that I’ve grown to love over the years.<br/><br/>I once again, ordered the Italian crab claws and they were leaps and bounds better than last time. We had a totally adorable waitress named Leena and she recommended dipping our fresh baked bread in the herb buttery goodness that the crab claws come in.<br/><br/>*This was very sound advice.*<br/><br/>The bread proved to be an exceptional “melted butter delivery service” and my husband and I went through two baskets of bread very quickly.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>I had the Chicken Parmesan entree with the Tuscan salad in the side. <br/><br/>I ate every single bite of the chicken which was cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of melted mozzarella on top.<br/><br/>They served the salad deconstructed which was a nice touch as well. Everything was fresh, hot and full of flavor.<br/><br/>I’m certain that I just caught them on a bad night last time and that happens in any restaurant.<br/><br/>This time it was exactly what I would expect from any Campisi’s location.<br/><br/>A Dallas classic.
Road Tips
For really not knowing what to expect with Campisi's, well, I have to admit that I was pretty impressed with the meal that I had when we were there.  The ravioli with the meat sauce was very good and I really like the taste of the meatballs I got as an extra.  The fried calamari was very good, as well.  Everyone at the table seemed to be happy with their meals.  We had a couple waiters who we had hopping with our repeated requests for drinks and extra whatevers, and they were more than up to the task of taking good care of us.  If this Campisi's location is indicative of the other ones in the Dallas area, then any of them should be able to dish out with a great old world Italian meal.
Reviewer_Ollie
A solid mediocre restaurant. The pasta sampler was tasty, but the large dinner salad was soggy. Very kid friendly. I would go there again, but not as a specific destination.
Dianne
THE worst!!!!!!! No words for such terrible food!!!! They have no right to exploit out of towners who have to sometimes order delivery to their hotel!
Christen.shops
SMH!. I was staying in Dallas this weekend and my hotel had a menu for this place. The food was ok but the there was no plastic wear in the bag and the Tiramisu was frozen in the middle.
Erica Lanae Smith
Server took on way too many tables than she could handle. She forgot about us never got us any refills. The food took 45 min and it wasn't even what I ordered and very cold , but I couldn't tell her because she never can back . Horrible food and horrible service would not recommend it.
Lmcolby
Do not eat here. Had to send the lasagna back was watery and cold. Flavor did not improve with reheating. It was hard and tasteless.<br/>Over priced and poor quality food. Do not waste your time here. Wasted $40.00 here

They Ruined A Woman's Wedding Party!!!. They did not have any of what the bride had discussed with them prior to wedding day, The food was cold when served. When the manager was called to discuss this matter he was rude & yelled at the bride in front of her guest.. The wait staff was in tears because they couldn't do anything to correct it.. This man clearly does not need to deal with people or be a manager at this establishment.. I would not recommend any big parties there especially wedding dinners.. One day a BRIDE never forgets !! Not very professional........
Greg
Have always loved Campisi's pizza, but cost cutting has finally caught up with them. Had a pizza Saturday night (7/5/14) and it was less thin than cardboard with few of the four toppings I ordered. On to someone else when I have urge for pizza next time.
Nancy Lombardo
I was by myself and sat at the bar. I only ordered pasta with their 'special sauce'. It took 40 minutes to get my food. The pasta was watery and tasteless. Also very small serving of pasta and salad for a dinner menu item. I would not go back there to eat.
Megan
I came in with 3 friends and it was about 5:30 on a Sunday night and there weren't many people here, yet our service was aweful. They brought us salads that were limp they brought our food out at different times and the taste was less than satisfactory. The waiter asked us if we were hung over from saint Patricks Day because we were wearing green...rude. 2 of my friends got Alfredo and it tasted like water there was no flavor at all. I got the combination plate which was okay but I make better pasta with the premade grocery store sauce. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.

Great! Marinara is perfect, the pizza is belicimo!

Food was overpriced, house salad was soggy iceberg lettuce, pasta dish was good.<br/><br/><br/>-----06 Oct, 2013-----<br/><br/>Restaurant is very dim! Bring a flashlight or lantern so u can see your food and menu!
Kate
Absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone! WORST SERVICE EVER!!! Wait staff complained to customer about kitchen staff and Was rude all night! Then she had the nerve to refer to one of our party as ride when she asked her to explain a charge on the check. Refused to split our tickets! What restaurant can't do that!? It was awful!! Even the manager was rude. You would think when 9 people come to eat you could get decent service but apparently not here! Food was also bland. Mediocre at best. Go to Olive Garden and save yourself the hassle
Gary
Average pizza. Its just pasta...nothing special. Don't but into the hype.

Best Italian food in years!!. I was in Dallas on business and found Campisi's on my GPS. Ordered veal piccata with Campisi's special butter sauce over linguini. The veal was excellent and the butter sauce was perfect... Not too thick with the perfect amount of citrus favor without overpowering. The restaurant was started in 1946 and Frank Sinatra was a customer. It has the old Italian restaurant charm and eclectic look reminiscent of the Rat Pack days. The bread was excellent too and the portion size was the right size to get full without feeling sick. I highly recommend it. The service was excellent too.

Not good!. I had read the reviews on this place so my boyfriend and I were excited to go there for dinner. We ordered bruschetta, veal parmigana and eggplant parmiganna. The bruschetta was not proper bruschetta but rather was a cup of what tasted like canned spaghetti sauce, a pile of salty chopped olives and other stuff (our waitress did not know what it was), and small pieces of oily toasted bread that were so hard they hurt my teeth. The entrees were "pub" quality and neither of us finished our plates. Not worth the calories or the inflated prices!!

Campisi's was Amazing!. We ate there yesterday 04/16/2013. We are from out of town and had theatre tickets. Our waiter "**MICHAEL**" was the highlight of our evening. He took care of everything we needed and went above everyday service. We had drinks and bread immediately and the crab starters were perfect. Michael walked us though the menu so that everyone got exactly what they wanted, gave us parking tips for the downtown area, and he charged my smart phone so my GPS would work properly. He was amazing. The food was great, but we loved the service the best. Thank you again Michael.
Brett
The pizza and service was outstanding. Nice atmosphere inside and good clientele.

I am overall happy with the place. I normally go during the evening time, but today I went during the lunch hour. You order your food at the bar and then sit. It was nice because you don't have to tip, lol. However I was not a fan of the marinara sauce. Still, I will visit again.

FLAVORLESS AND TOO EXPENSIVE. A few weeks ago, as part of our goal of trying new restaurants every week, my boyfriend and I went to Campisi's. The disappointment was as huge as our hungriness -and we were at the edge of starvation-. The portions were big, but not good. The quality of the ingredients was very poorly, as a consequence the food had few or null flavor. Then, when they brought the bill, the prices for the food were as high as eating into a 3 stars restaurant. I would not recommend this place to have a romantic dinner, or to fill your stomach.

Good pizza. Campisi's is always consistent with their thin crust pizza. I love that they cook to order, and they are not cheap with the topppings and cut it so you can eat it without having to re-cut it. The only dig I have is that their small house salad is skimpy---basically all iceberg lettuce and dressing. Hey, guys, you could at least pit the one olive you put in there. But the dressing is good. I just think $2.95 for that salad is too much unless they put more in it. I'll go back always for the pizza.
Rsmetzer
Disapointed. I have been eating at The Egyptain for 40 years and never had a bad pizza until Aug. 5. The service was poor and the pizza had overcooked toppings. I should have had the nerve to send it back. We always get dinner salads and the all the way pizza. This one was terrible!!!!
Adrienne R
Lunch gone Astray!. I had been frequenting Campisis for some months now. The baked chicken spaghetti has experienced a serious declination in taste, presentation and quantity but the price remains steady. In the beginning they gave you a whole breast and now it is chopped up chicken, wow NOT! They tried to charge me $1.50 for crutons. The cashier says you dont really think that they are free. I will not return!

Day has passed. You can go back for nolstagic reasons to capture part of the past there and it still has a certain ambience. I ever saw Don Meridith there once picking up a pizza takeout. The food is no longer what it used to be and it is part of the past also. Parking is still a nightmare and you would be better off just remembering the past Camptis with a take home from Jims Pizza and save $40.00.
Bob
Happy Hour. Looking at other reviews I wonder if I am reviewing the same place. We had good service, the food was good, and we drank a lot of beer. The atmosphere was good... I will go back again.
Mikeysgreenthumb
I just don't get it.... Recommended by coworkers and a bunch of good reviews online. Not sure what people think is good food anymore. Have had the pizza which is not too bad but the sauce is very bitter. Very cheap ingredients. Had the spaghetti and meatball also. Notice I said meatball as in singular. Yep, one meatball included. Same issue as the pizza, the sauce was very bitter. I guess it is asking to much for a place like this to make its own sauce?
AshleyB
I mean does Egytian food get any better?. Love the pizza, love the pasta, love the staff. Try the All the Way Pizza with half jalapenos. OR the lunch combo covered in cheese. YUM!
Sebastian
From England. Found this place by chance. I love it. Grilled homemade sausage a must. Check out great long island ice teas too.
Boots
Great service and location. However, their sauce is loaded with MSG, so I was vomiting up their combo plate an hour later.
Christopher Harris
Horrible. Just when I thought Campisi's couldn't disappoint me ever again (I vowed never to go back once), they STILL manage to underwhelm me.<br/><br/>So my girlfriend decides to go to dinner with her grand-littles from her sorority. The young and foolish girls decide to go to Campisi's. My thoughtful girlfriend asks if I want her to bring something home for me. I can't shake my head no fast enough. "You sure? Some breadsticks maybe?"<br/><br/>Ugh. Always a sucker for breadsticks, I give in. So when she gets home, she tells me she asked for some breadsticks as they were finishing up their meal. Their server let her know that they don't have breadsticks, but they have something very similar to cheesy bread. So, she orders that instead.<br/><br/>When she gets her bill, she can't understand why her meal is so expensive. Well, the nearly $10 (after tax and tip) cheesy bread was the culprit. <br/><br/>She gets this home and I give it a shot. It's like undercooked thick Wonder Bread with some melted cheese on top served with a marinara sauce that is pretty horrible. I think I would have preferred ketchup and raw dough.<br/><br/>This time I will hold strong...and I will add never letting anyone BRING me anything from Campisi's to my boycott.<br/><br/>As a frame of reference, Dominos or Little Caesar's breadsticks BLOW Campisi's sad little dish out of the water.<br/><br/>And Rocco's Pizza has hands down some of the best pizza in Dallas if that's what you're looking for. Get the Supreme.
Frances
Good, but pricey for lunch. We go occasionaly for a change, and the food is good. Rushed atmosphere and $10+ for lunch.
Jennifer Ranker
Yummy!. Always good! And love the Italian Cream Cake.
Bobby Attebery
Very Good. Love the place, the pizza is one of the best around if not the best.
William Henley
Best thin-crust pizza in town. Little pricy for lunch. Come hungry - portions are huge!
Craig Nicholson
Decent & Lost reservation. Came to town for White Rock marathon. Had reservations and they never wrote it down. Food was decent, nothing to rave about like Pazoli's in Highland Park. It has a mom and pop feel. Side salad was not that great. Spaghetti and meatball was good. Service was quick.
Brian
Great pizza. Campisi's serves up delicious thin-crust pizza. It's a little pricey for lunch (although you get a pretty sturdy plastic commemorative cup with the purchase of a drink), so consider splitting a pizza with a friend/coworker. The casual atmosphere typically draws a decent evening crowd too.
