New to Dallas and saw that there are a lot of Mexican places around here and coming from Jersey, was hoping to try some authentic Mexican food. Luckily we, as in I picked a good place with Meso Maya. The chips and salsa are amazing – would come here just for this! Had the Herradura Salmon which has a tamarind glaze which was delicious. I usually don’t like brussel sprouts but I actually ate all of it – it’s that good.
The menu is what you would expect from most Mexican styled restaurant but there were some surprises. First the salsa on the table was fantastic. The cocktails list was inventive with a nice selection of tequila and mescal. So standard tacos and enchiladas. Carne Asada was excellently tender and seasoned the Salmon Herrudura was also cooked well and had a nice glaze. The crispy brussels were great. The tamale was a meatless creamy enjoyable addition the to the dinner. The service was over the top, we had at least 3 if not 4 people addressing our needs. Very good overall.
Food was excellent and so was the service. The avocado margarita is very good. You would not think it would be good but you would be surprised. Everyone’s dinner was excellent. The marinated steak was a hit. Go here and enjoy your evening.
This restaurant is at a walking distance from '' The Perot Museum ''.
My only disappointment was that my Pina Colada had ice cubes in it instead of crushed ice. I ordered the Salmon con Coco and due to my dietary restrictions, I asked the waiter for no cheese on my serving which was obliged upon. The salmon was cooked really well and the rice was delicious. My husband ordered Steak Oaxaca but he complained that it wasn't on point like the first time he tried it ;he was happy with the tamal on the side though. We skipped dessert because there is no 'milk free' options, this won't deter us from coming back though.
A good way to summarize this restaurant here would be an upscale authentic Mexican Restaurant. A Friend and I came for lunch here on a Saturday. If you are coming on a weekend or Friday night make sure to make a reservation because this place was packed and a couple who came in with us got served when we were walking out.
When we were, we were given complimentary salsa and chips. The salsa tasted great and had a great kick. For drinks we both got lemonades. The lemons were freshly squeezed. This lemonade was probably the best lemonade I have ever had. We started off with a pozole verde (one of the soups). The soup tasted great. The broth was warm, slightly tangy and cheesy.
I then got the Carne Asada and my friend got the Brisket Enchiladas. Both plates were aesthetically pleasing. My carne asada (steak) was tender and flavorful. I really enjoyed it. Plus the steak looked like a crescent moon which was something you dont see everyday. My friend enjoyed her Brisket Enchiladas very much too.
Suffice to say, I really enjoyed my experience here. The environment here is very lively and jolly. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.
Good ambience. Their black beans are amazing, it was probably what stood out the most. We got the salmon de coco, and the salmon was cooked perfectly.
Decent Food, Great Ambience. Went to Meso Maya after reading its review online, expectations were high but the food did not lived the hype. Ordered Veg Enchiladas and Mole Poblano along with queso and Guacamole. Everything we ordered was good but certainly not great.
It's a beautiful evening in Dallas!
This was our first visit and it was great!
It is not Tex Mex, but very fresh!

What a way to begin May! Meso Maya for the win to help cope with my “April Showers” blues. Recently I made a trip to the Downtown location to experience this Mexican gem first hand. I’ve written and heard so much about Meso Maya, the winner of D Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Best Chef (2015) & Best Regional Mexican (2015), but had yet to dine there myself!

This place was more than I expected. Exceptional ambiance with great food. I had the Del Mar with shrimp and lump crabmeat it was absolutely delicious.
Lovely, knowledgeable server. Easily the best Mexican food I've had even when ordering the salmon! They know their cuisine very well. Smokey salsa, delectable queso, and handmade guacamole. The perfect place for a date or for friends. The interior feels like you crossed straight into Mexico, and you might be inspired to go if you manage to make it as close as Texas!
What to say about Meso Maya Comida y Copas?
I really loved this Mexican restaurant because they really serve authentic Mexican food. The quality of the food and the service were amazing. I personally enjoyed the enchiladas with mole sauce.
The location of the restaurant is great, super close to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science downtown.
The decoration is great. We really liked their courtyard, where we could let the kids run and play around while the others were finishing their food.
I highly recommend it!
Outstanding Mexican food, everything tastes fresh and authentic. The corn tortillas chips, the rice, guac, beans… everything was made in house. We had enchiladas and the beef fajitas plate, sooo good! Got flan to-go for dessert. Service was great, and good atmosphere. The price was reasonable for the location and quality of food. I would recommend this place to anyone. Definitely would take family here again!
The pollo tacos were literally the most delicious tacos I've ever tasted. The combinaton of zesty and savory flavors was amazing, and I could tell how fresh the ingredients were. I also enjoyed trying pozole rojo for the first time. 10/10 and I'll be back again the next time I'm in Dallas!
My food was amazing. I loved everything I had to eat. The service itself was slightly slow but we had a big party so that’s ok. The food was made and brought out quickly after we ordered. Be aware that they don’t split checks for parties over 8, but they don’t have that on their menu or posted anywhere in the restaurant. I would definitely go back as the food was fantastic.
First time to this restaurant....We really enjoyed the food and service. Mimosas were delicious. We had the Del Mar enchiladas and stuffed Poblano, and the Poblano queso was excellent as well. The manager Jimmy came to check on service and food...can't say enough good things about our experience today and will definitely be back!
Asked our Uber driver who happened to be a Mexican where’s the best Mexican restaurant. And he recommended Meso Maya, and it definitely did not disappoint.
We went with a group of seven, and we were all very impressed and loved the foods.
The portion was very generous, they were flavorful. Friendly service, and nice ambience
Food was excellent, we had the ceviche, Budin Azteca Camaron and Cochinita Pibil. I can also say the Short Rib Rellano and Arrachera are excellent from previous times eating at the restaurant. My favorite from anything I’ve ordered is the Arrachera. I recommend eating on the second level if it’s available, it’s a nice quiet atmosphere up there and the bar is nicer in my opinion. Service was good, we sat for longer than I’d expect before a server ever came by considering they weren’t completely slammed or anything, but our sever was pleasant and helpful, so I did four stars for the wait, but not a knock on the server specifically.
I had one of the most remarkable dining experiences here. From the service to the food, everything exceeded my expectations.
Our server, Alfredo, was exceptional. As soon as we were seated, he shared his drink recommendations, convincing us to try the Top Shelf Margarita with Mezcal and Tajin - a choice that turned out to be fantastic. Alfredo's menu knowledge was impressive, as he guided us through his personal favorites for the main courses. Taking his advice, we ordered his recommended dishes, and each one was a delightful surprise.
The Carne Asada and Carnitas/Carne tacos were absolute standouts. The meat had a perfect balance of crust and marinade. The salsa was addictively delicious, and we couldn't resist going through three bowls of it. I dare say it was the best complimentary salsa I've had. We also sampled four of their five enchiladas (all excellent choices), as well as their ceviche and guacamole. Every dish felt authentically crafted, and it came as no surprise that I found myself quite full by the end. Huge thanks to Alfredo for introducing us to such amazing flavors!
In my opinion, there's hardly any other restaurant in Dallas deserving of five stars more than this one. If you're in the area, make sure to pay them a visit - you won't be disappointed.
