Review Toulouse Cafe And Bar (dallas) - Dallas

Very nice French restaurant that offers traditional French dishes and with good atmosphere. We celebrated birthday here and felt that the food was great. They offered a free dessert for birthday with candle. We had a great time. I loved the duck confit and mussels.

Been here few times for dinner. Lamb, frog legs, and escargots are my favorite. Decided to do lunch after my walk on Katy trail. The special seasonal salad was amazing! Shrimp cooked to perfection. Goat cheese and peaches, delicious. Does get crowded and loud. Tables are close together. Tables are small for 2 ppl. Not enough room to place 4 platters/dishes.

I enjoyed visiting Toulouse Cafe and Bar on Knox Street today for a delightful lunch with my friend, Deane, and our four-legged companion, Shadow. When we stepped in, it was clear that this establishment was special, and our experience exceeded our expectations. One of the standout features of Toulouse Cafe and Bar is its super dog-friendly policy, which Shadow absolutely adored. It was nice that they had a welcoming atmosphere for our furry friends, instantly setting the tone for a fantastic lunch. Deane, who had just finished a workout at the nearby gym, met us there, and we used the valet parking service. It was convenient and efficient, allowing us to get inside and enjoy our meal promptly. Shadow eagerly waited for A french fry here, some whipped cream there - his tail wagging away. The menu had a variety of options; I love that they turned the burger into a tasty chicken sandwich. What truly stood out was the friendly atmosphere, and the manager even went the extra mile by calling the valets ahead of time, ensuring that our car was ready when we were. These small touches make a big difference in the overall dining experience. Whether you're a dog lover or just looking for a great place to dine with friends, Toulouse Cafe and Bar should be at the top of your list. We'll definitely be returning soon for more memorable moments with Shadow and delicious food.

Certainly! Here's a condensed version of your review: "This place is a delightful blend of romance and coziness. The food is simply divine. I can confidently say that the lobster risotto I had was the best I've ever tasted, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his salmon dish as well. The seating arrangements were perfect, creating an intimate atmosphere. The pricing is fair for the exceptional quality offered. The service was top-notch! (Ezequiel) was our waiter. We'll definitely be returning to this super cute place for more memorable dining experiences. Highly recommended!"

Beautiful location on knox, great for people watching, soft adult contemporary music, great food. I had the tomato basil Soup, creamy but light. The blackened salmon salad was good. Lavender creme brûlée was delicious. The other day I had the lobster risotto. It was the best risotto I have ever had. It was not heavy, lumpy. It was perfection, lobster was delish.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but this was the best restaurant I have ever been too. Everyone who worked there was so sweet and genuinely enjoyed their job. We had the sweetest waiter, I didn’t get her name but she was constantly refilling our drinks and she even had them split up the food portions for me and my mom without us even asking. The food was amazing, the zucchini chips were so good and for desert we had the lavender crème brûlée.

Absolutely delicious! Staff was super kind. My favorite by far were THE BEIGNETS!!!!!! The cheesecake was amazing, I typically don’t eat cheesecake but this was worth ordering! Choc mousse was really good as well, love the nuts & fruits added into it. Dessert coffee Drinks were perfect. The ambiance made us feel we were sitting right in the heart of France!

Visited for lunch on a weekday. Host was exceptional greeting me enthusiastically and seating me on the enclosed patio which was covered as it was a windy day. I saw they had Rose bubbles by the glass that was appreciated and enjoyed. I then started with the Lobster bisque. It was especially good with the crispy baguette and butter they served. My Salad Nicoise I have to say was average and I was disappointed that it was served with a lone white anchovy. The menu states anchovies in the description so I asked for some extra for my salad. They ended up charging me for the extra anchovies on an already $24 salad. The caperberries were amazing as was the perfectly cooked egg. Would I return ? Most definitely yes, but not for this salad. Service was attentive and friendly.

Good food and good service. I like the atmosphere for this place. It’s better to have a reservation specially on weekends. But you can hangout on the bar while waiting for a table. Good menus is limited “from my view” but the quality of food is good.

Really enjoyed our dinner here recently. We walked in. Super flavorful food. We enjoyed some mussels but didn't find tuna tartar very fresh. Great wine selections and some available in glass. Dinner for two with drinks was under $200. We enjoyed the ambiance, decor, and service.
Laurel Clark
Wonderful experience. Food - mussels, truffle frites, Alaskan Halibut was fabulous.

I had the lobster risotto, which was a bit undercooked. He had beef bourguignon, which was ok. We had petit gougeres to start, which was light and flavorful. We had grand marnier souffle and an apple tart for dessert and it was delicious. The French press coffee was also a nice bonus. It was crowded in there and dimly lit. Cute candle at the table. Small table and it is rather hard to have conversations there due to the noise level. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice date spot overall.

Pretty darn good, definitely a 5 star restaurant. Celebrated my husband's birthday with family for dinner. The ambience is very, very nice and the service was top notch. We all got appetizers, soup, salads and full entrees. Onion soup was delicious as it should be in a French restaurant. My husband loved his escargot as well as the dover sole that was prepared table side. The four of us literally got so many dishes!! I got beef burgonion, rich and just melted in my mouth. My son got a steak, sad very good and his girlfriend got a pasta dish with chicken and she loved it. And of course we all had desserts! The best one overall was a grand marnier soufflé with creme anglaise was a killer!! Definitely a special occasion place, not cheap, spent 500 with drinks and tip.

Walked in and was immediately greeted with a cool, modern atmosphere. It was very busy, but the staff was still able to get us a table very promptly with only an hour’s notice in advance. Our server, Eduardo, was very friendly and gave great recommendations for our entrees. Very efficient too; everything we needed got to our table in a timely manner. Food was exceptional. If you’re a seafood lover like me, I’d recommend you try their Bouillabaisse. The broth was rich and hearty, and its flavor permeated into the array of seafood and vegetables very well. Desserts were also very good. The chocolate soufflé was light, airy, and practically melted in my mouth. All in all, our visit to Toulouse was beyond satisfactory. For what you get, the prices aren’t too constraining relative to other restaurants in the area, the service is fast and friendly, food is great, and the general vibe of the place is welcoming and sleek. You’re the man, Eduardo!

An awesome experience. First time in Dallas. We used to be regulars in Austin before it closed. Bastille day celebration this night. Service was excellent though very busy. Management was noticeably on the floor all night. Food came out timely, fast and hot and everything tasted great. Highly recommend

Seriously, this is about the only place I order chicken. It's perfect here, not dried out at all. We also had the duck, it was superb. Highly recommend saving room for dessert and ordering a souffle. We had the raspberry and it didn't disappoint.

What an absolutely wonderful lunch. First off let me say they do not dumb down the experience for the lunch crowd whatsoever. We were completely and equally blown away by the French onion soup, the half chicken and the French dip. All were done to perfection!

Unbelievable breakfast. Was so surprised. Went there for the first time with a group of car guys after an event in plano. Ordered the french toast and Bacon and eggs....was the best ever.. service was nice. Hostess were friendly. A breath of fresh air.. worth every penny!! The valet is right across the street. So we all parked our supercars there!

Amazing outstanding attentive service. Great atmosphere. Great food! My only complaint is a brunch menu should be available through the week, not only on the weekend. Quaint spot for both lunch and dinner.

This old favorite is true to the style of Paris bistro complete with a red patio awning and relaxed French-style service. Come for a weekend brunch and linger around, enjoying coffee and people watching. The menu has remained unchanged throughout the years, which is wonderful for those of us that are creatures of habit.

Moules, duck, foie gras etc<br/><br/>I chose and I would recommend the duck which came as a magret and leg confit. It had lentils and a tasty sauce.<br/><br/>Always ask for your duck to be undercooked which I did thankfully. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The salads are lightly seasoned and the desserts are great. The French fries are better than in France <br/><br/>BTW Always worth asking what the special of the day is too .<br/><br/>Serge has been proudly in charge of this establishment for years and it is still the best French restaurant in Dallas IMHO<br/><br/>A lot of French restaurants in France should take note !<br/><br/>Dallas gets French food without an attitude :-))

I’m back at Legacy West in Plano and if you can’t tell, I’m loving this area so full of life, high-end retail shopping, and fantastic (and endlessly growing) dining options. Lombardi Family Concepts (who are also the owners of Taverna and Bistro 31, to name a few) have recently opened a second  DFW location of Toulouse Cafe right here at Legacy West.  If you haven’t made it to France just yet, you can enjoy a small taste of it right here in Plano, Texas.

Food quality is good 🙂 I recommend this restaurant to Azeem Hassni you must visit here and have wonderful experience of this restaurant. Junaid Qadir Baloch waiting for your response buddy 😜

Sunday brunch at Toulouse is a memorable experience. Sit on the patio, enjoy some amazing food and watch the traffic on the Katy Trail. It's a wonderful place for dinner also.
Neil Burman
Charming French bistro. The food is slightly above average but come here for the Parisienne feel in the middle of Texas. Nice patio and good place to people watch. Mimosas are good for brunch.
Richard
I love this restaurant. The frogs legs are delicious. Soufflé grand marnierre is too die. Never had a bad experience. Extensive wine list by the glass aswell <br/>

Toulouse is a great place to get your Frenchy foodie fix.<br/><br/>I love the lobster bisque, crispy calamari, croque-madame, and the Petit Entrecote Pommes Frites.  <br/><br/>The Petit Entrecote Pommes Frites reminds me of Le Relais de l'Entrecôte in Paris from a food recollection.  <br/><br/>The service here is wonderful as well.  Consistent staff and management.  <br/><br/>One TV in the bar area usually showing a soccer (football) match.<br/>Patio area with retractable roof and sides for when the weather is nice.  <br/>Access to the Katy Trail if you are into running, walking, or biking to get to your food.  <br/>Valet is mandatory unless you park and walk from down the street.
Anatoli
Had lunch there with the group. The menu offering is very extensive, with lots of options from seafood to meats. However, the salad selection is rather small and unimpressive, there is definitely focus on the complete dishes. I had a pan-seared salmon special with roasted corn and bacon succotash, and everything was done to the perfection. <br/>Good wine list, with lots of options of reasonable priced wines. The list is heavily slated towards French wines, where in Texas I would personally prefer a larger offering of the Texas wines.<br/>Service was nice, courteous and prompt. Definitely recommended.

This is one of my favorite Dallas restaurants. Dining indoors or on the patio, the service and food are always fabulous. I love the lobster salad, and other specials such as diver scallops with risotto. The dessert soufflé is worth the wait.

[Terrible Experience - see below]<br/><br/>I wanted this to be a gem of a french bistro but it shockingly wasn't, frankly it was disappointing... <br/><br/>Everything on the menu sounded so tasty but was a complete letdown when it arrived. The cheese plate was stingy, the lobster bisque was mostly tomato cream soup with very little lobster, the salad was wilted and sandy, the risotto was limp and flavorless. It seems that there were many shortcuts taken in the kitchen and at this price point that is unacceptable.<br/><br/>The service was ok but not stellar. Our server was friendly but the food server and host weren't very professional.<br/><br/>If you're already here get a cocktail, eat the bread and move on. That's all that was good.<br/><br/>---Edit---<br/><br/>Scratch that... Frankly it was unpleasant by the time we left. <br/><br/>I wrote the above while eating.... Turns out they "can't" do math. We asked our waiter for separate checks and to split our appetizer which doesn't seem unreasonable and isn't stated as forbidden on their menu. This was confusing and difficult for him. My check was $20, then $70, then $40. Apparently it wasn't his fault though.<br/><br/>I went to speak to the manager of the restaurant to sort things out and when I asked him to split our check properly he looked at me like I had asked him to split his daughter three ways. He made an excuse about the computer system instead of taking care of the issue that was beginning to escalate. This has never been a problem as long as I have lived and dined in Dallas. So downgrade the service to poor and the management to rude. <br/><br/>Bottom line I had a bad night here and won't be going back, nor wouldn't recommend that you go here if you're reading this review. There are so many other restaurants nearby that are much more appreciative of your patronage and actually serve delicious food. <br/><br/>(In the spirit of full disclosure the couple next to us seemed to be having an alright time but I bet that was mostly the date they were having and not the restaurant.)

Love the food. They have a GREAT brunch and good food, very close to as french as can be in the US. Keep up the good work. Love Laurent. Nice Guy

French way to waste time. I'm a professional cook, i love food and the bottom line..."eating"!<br/>I cant deal with the European formality of goofing around with tiny portions and intermittent courses .<br/>If the only place to eat left on the planet was a french restaurant.."we would all starve to death!"<br/>Is it because the chefs are so wound up in the looks of it that and making it pretty that its served this way to give them time to fool around with it?<br/>I'm not a drunk, but i don't see any point at all in sitting there sniffing and admiring that glass of wine unless someone urinated in it.<br/>Lets face it....wine has alcohol. could it be that a pill popper juggles, shuffles, plays mahjong with his dope? Not likely.<br/>The faster the effect, the sooner the joy.<br/>If your like me.. i want my joy as soon as i can get it.

Classic Classics. Wow. Bravo. *standing ovation* May I have a lil bit moar? Damn fine, friendly and formerly unknown to me Chef Lardeux serves up some of Dallas' best versions of the classics. There's a reason the classics are called the classics. Done without care you get "tired old classics". Done well you get something you may have had dozens of times without ever thinking "This may be the best version I've ever tasted". Toulouse does that dish after dish after dish. Superbly well done charcuterie, foie terrine, Swiss cheesey poofs and wine. Done. Fin. Perfect lunch. What else could one want? Thai mussels? Well yeah maybe just a couple. Yum. A shared bite of Croque-Madame? No but that looks really good. OK, if you insis.....Daaaayum!! Not just any ham sandwich. A classic ham sandwich. Cute place. You'd expect Spies or the Underground peeking out from behind horizontal slits cut in their newspapers, or Ipads, watching out for wives or joggers or whatever Nazis may be near. Classic.

Decent Brunch. Eggs benedict was fairly good but overall this wasn't a stand-out from the many places to brunch in Dallas. However it did have a nice Parisian atmosphere with good service and menu variety.

Cafe Toulouse is a favorite stop for me when I visit Dallas. I often recommend out of town friends take the time to enjoy the atmosphere and food. Until this evening, I have had wonderful experiences at Cafe Toulouse.....yet my server this evening completely destroyed my confidence in the establishment. As always, the food was delicious! But the server was continually insulting and unhelpful. Sadly, I will not recommend Cafe Toulouse again, nor spend another evening enduring such sad service.

Previously a Favorite--Not Anymore.. My wife and I have visit this place very time we come to Dallas. In fact, we fell in love there. The manager/owner(?) has always been charming and always remembered us. The dining room, terrace and bar are pleasantly lively. Food is good and service charming. Until recently. Our last visit was very disappointing, and a bit maddening. We came to celebrate a special occasion. The hostess seemed miffed that a few chairs needed to be moved to allow my wife's wheelchair to enter (she has 4th stage cancer and is at a bit of a loss for hair). She sniffily told us that the only place that could spatially accommodate us was a charming table just adjacent to the restrooms, otherwise it would be a 45 minute wait-- on the sidewalk rather than the bar because of "space requirements." I tried to explain to the erstwhile gentlemanly manager why this seemed less than agreeable. The hostess continuously interrupted my supplications and the manager was disdainfully implacable. I was obliged to insist that the hostess stop interrupting, but seeing the manager was unmoved, we left, not to return.

Great brunch variety! Pomme frites are fresh and crispy.... The toulouse burger there is delish with the guacamole spread, and the lobster Mac and cheese is a great choice!
Richard Brown
Great! All the way around!

One of my faves..... I've been going to Cafe Tolouse every return visit I've made to Dallas since moving away 3 years ago. Great food, attentive staff, and wonderful people watching from the patio.<br/>Keep up the good work, and see you for Sunday brunch!

Bite for bite on of the best restaurants in Dallas!

DATE NIGHT!. Romantic but casual and good food to share! Laid back Frenchy bistro fare and never a let-down yet.

Great Food and Place. My wife and I really enjoyed eating here this past weekend. We always visit French Bistros on our quest to find the best. <br/><br/>The escargot were good, my steak was a little over cooked, but ok. Pommes Frites were awesome. My wife had the roast chicken. Creme Brulee was excelent. <br/><br/>All in all, we give it a thumbs up
Carroll
Great find. Reminds me of Paris.

Great bistro. This is a great find in a neighborhood of choices. Great on patio or inside, bring your dog on patio, eat from a menu of sup rising choices. Always pleasant, grist for Sunday brunch. Relax, it's casual anyrime
Lauren
Never disappointing. I highly recommend the crab florentine or orange French toast for brunch!
Douglas Potts
I've has nothing but great food and service at Toulouse. Sunday brunch is wonderful. Be sure and have the short rib hash and crab florentine.

Good food, service is a guess. I continually love the food here. Great mussels, great escargot, tuna wasn't the best I've had but it was good. My only issue is the service. The first few times I came in I had excellent service and a great meal. The last time I was in, just last week, I had terrible service.

Great steak tartare prepared in the traditional way. I thoroughly enjoyed everything we had at this french hideaway. Great service, too. I highly recommend.

Good Food and Service. This is another great small patio restaurant along Knox-Henderson. It is right next door to Momos which is equally good Italian. This is a small sidewalk restaurant but has great service, not too much attention but always right there when you look around and need something. Don't come here expecting The French Room, come expecting a relaxing meal on the patio.<br/><br/>If you get a chance, check out the park down the street. It looks like just benches and blue lights, but it is actually interactive art. It is a great place to relax and the "art" keeps the kids entertained.
Copper
Lame but only cute french rest in uptown. Who likes Disney? Apparently a lot of Texans. The food is only ok, but what do you expect in Dallas?? If you are Francophile in need of a kitchsy French cafe decor, head here, but don't expect great French food.
Louise Siebert
Located on Knox Street, Toulouse gave great first impressions. The patio was lively during this Saturday lunch time visit and inside I felt transported back to St Catherine's area of Brussels with the casual bistro decor
Troy Dick
Great little neighborhood brasserie in Dallas with what they label as a “balance between contemporary French and Belgian dishes”. The food defiantly had a French influence but the atmosphere was what stood out to me, the patio lets you forget you’re in Dallas for a while. Ambiance is one of its best assets.
