Food, service and atmosphere were great. For Dallas this was pretty good for Louisiana style cuisine. Coming from the golden triangle area minutes from Louisiana I’m use to the real deal but this hit the spot for needing a hometown quick fix. The gumbo was excellent and fried oysters delicious. I gave it 4 stars only because I know the real stuff. I would feel ok recommending S&D to friends and family. Casual dining atmosphere with a New Orleans style vibe. The coleslaw is phenomenal.

Great seafood place in the middle of downtown Dallas. Great service and atmosphere. Food was perfect, small menu, but the items they have are done very well.

Server was great and food was average. Took a while to get food tho it was fine. Oysters are huge but a bit rough. Overall, if I want a lot of cheap huge oyster, would go back, otherwise it was not super special. I got lemon meringue cake for the dessert and it was good!

Fun bar staff, very kind staff! Excellent quality seafood prepared in a timely manner and not overly battered! Excellent drink options with great value for your choices! Highly recommend! Can't wait to re-visit when I'm in Dallas again!

Some things never change, like the solid seafood offerings at S&D! We love the shrimp salad, seafood rolls, and hushpuppies. And no visit is complete without the delicious lemon pie! A serving of quirky but efficient service is always included with your meal. Our server was teasingly surly, which was entertaining for us...it might not be to others. The atmosphere is always loud and bustling, even on a cold and rainy evening. It's good to know that some Dallas institutions live on... We're so happy that S&D is still around for us to count on for a great meal!

If you like seafood or good food in general, check this place out immediately. Everything was fabulous … and I’ve never had such good coleslaw in my life…so tasty and fresh. I had the market fish and oysters…both on point. The banana bread/pudding dessert was amazing!
The bar is super cute. I plan on returning to have good drink and maybe a solo dinner date with myself. Just really comfortable.
This place is definitely a must if you want a seafood fix! 🦀🐙🍤

Hands down the best fried shrimp in Dallas. The batter is so thin you get just flavor and meat. Not like a lot of places that sell fried shrimp and it’s so thick with breading you hardly get any meat. They also have awesome fresh raw oysters. They also make the best coleslaw, and I don’t even like coleslaw. It’s cut up tiny and isn’t floating in some unknown milky juice.
It’s old school Louisiana eatery and the staff and simple meals compliment each well. Definitely worth it.

Got the chef taster and fried grouper. The sea food was as fresh as you could expect from a mid-end restaurant in landlocked Dallas. Gumbo was average and fried fish was a bit too dry.
The vibe was cool: the naturalism art pieces on the brickwall, no music, only indistinct sounds from many conversations. The place makes you feel like you're eating at a dinner of some historic hotel.

Our first trip. Oysters on the half shell were very nice appetizer. BBQ Shrimp and Grouper were wonderful, my only complaint is Grouper portion was a bit small. Overall very good value for the money. We will be back again

The most darling spot, perfect for your seafood craving. They keep it simple and focus on fantastic food. It is absolutely delicious! The best crab maison I've ever had! The (gulf) oysters on the half shell were also a perfect snack on a hot summer day.

Delicious food, lovely, quiet and personal atmosphere. Attentive staff and again the food was incredibly delicious. Couldn’t go wrong with the slow-cooked snapper and coleslaw. Reasonably priced too. This place is a heritage site so definitely worth a visit.

I was down here on business and based on reviews wanted to stop in here. 1st thing I noticed was there service. It was exceptional from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. Excellent service at lunch time. Then it was their menu. Well created and designed by their chef. A ton of great options. I settled on seafood gumbo, shrimp loaf (similar to a po boy but, better), and homemade coleslaw. Phenomenal choice that I made all around. Then to put the icing on the cake Lemon pie for dessert. Their bakery chef did an excellent job as well. Being a big guy I could have eaten more. Their portions on everything I ate was absolutely the right size. Even their ice tea tasted different. I had the pleasure of meeting their GM who has been there for a long time. She was sweet and kind. You can tell by the staffs demeanor that they all care about their restaurant. It was the best lunch I had while in Dallas. The sad thing is now I have to go back home to Maine. Will be back soon and will definitely come by again.

From the time we entered the parking lot, our experience was superior. Greeted and seated quickly, waiter was observant (not hovering) great authentic Southern Meal. As a transplant from the coast of Louisiana - I know the second I see and taste Authentic gulf fresh seafood. Everything was lightly battered leaving lots of great flavor. Nothing tasted greasy or overly seasoned. We got the 4 oyster/5 shrimp combo and the 10 shrimp plates. Each were perfection.
