Went there together with a friend for dinner, and it was an excellent choice indeed! Food was delicious, our server was fantastic, the place is nice and clean, and I enjoyed every moment at this restaurant. Highly recommend this place.
You can never go wrong dining at Truluck's. I had originally made an anniversary reservation at The French Room, where my wife and I had dinner the night we got engaged, but after reading a number of reviews I decided to cancel and make a reservation at Truluck's. We've never had anything but a stellar experience there, and Saturday was no exception.
We arrived on time and were seated promptly. We ordered a nice bottle of unoaked Chardonnay, which was very good and very well priced. We split the Tuna Tartare Platter for our appetizer. It was plenty of food to split and was fresh and delicious. For dinner we shared the pan seared scallops, served with parmesan mashed potatoes, and the miso glazed seabass, served with crab fried rice and a spicy cucumber slaw. Both entrees were cooked perfectly, were presented beautifully, and tasted great. We also ordered a side of creamed spinach, which was rich but went well with our entrees. For dessert the restaurant comped us a baked Alaska for our anniversary.
Service was impeccable, as it always is.
We think Truluck's is a top 5 restaurant in a city with a lot of great restaurants!
The piano bar was a great spot for couples to enjoy the full menu and listen to the music. Unfortunately the singer/ musician was about 10 decibels too loud which caused energize to talk louder than normal. The music was good but neede to be toned down.
Service was efficient and friendly
My wife had the crab legs and I had the scallops. Both were very good. We'll be back to checkout the upstairs dining
It has a great ambiance in the lower level always there is someone in the piano while you wait for drinks and listen to great old songs.
Once you move to the table, you would discover so many choices to dine, all fresh and delicious. Dont forget dessert the alaska one is to die for.
Was good. Great service. Fun place. A bit pricey-er than Zomato suggested but really bout what I expected. Blah, blah, blah, blah...........
Craving sea food with the family for lunch, we hit the road and head to truluck's. We sat at the bar and got served by a good gentleman(forgot his name) we ordered the rock feller oyster , sea food mix platter and the alaskan king crab. Every dish was presented perfectly and tasted fresh
High end steak and seafood. I recommended we both start with the Lobster Bisque, one of Truluck's signature items, and it once again was delicious (rich and creamy). For an entree, I decided to slum it this evening and ordered the cheapest item on the menu: The "Hot 'n' Crunchy Idaho Trout" ($27) with rice pilaf and a mango chili sauce. It was a nicely breaded trout and the rice was very good. All the same, I begin to regret not ordering the Chilean Sea Bass, which has become my favorite at Truluck's over the years. Not sure what I as expecting - perhaps something with a bit of fire and spice - but that's not what this dish about. It is good, though maybe a bit dull in the end. OK, well I tried it anyway (folks, get the Sea Bass). The Boss wanted steak (mmm... he-man want steak) and he told me that he prefers a ribeye to a filet. So he went for the 16 oz All Natural Rib Eye ($48) which he subsequently devoured with much glee. And the potatoes were gone before I noticed as well. Boss man happy. Better be in my next performance evaluation too....
If you want to be pampered, treat yourself to Truluck's. The service is impeccable.
For starters I enjoyed their wedge salad which arrives with its own chilled fork and serrated knife. Then, instead of an entree, I had 2 large stone crab claws and it made a perfect meal. I love the personal hot wet hand towels served in their own covered pot ready and waiting when I needed them. Food quality was excellent.
The crispy shrimp appetizer was outstanding and unique with a strong Asian flare. It's very spicy and delicious. The lobster bisque was among the best we've ever had.
The steak dynamite was served shrimp, crabmeat and lobster on top and a delicious sriracha cream sauce. It was terrific. So was the side of wilted garlic spinach.
The miso glazed seabass was great. The steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered. Our favorite side was the creamed corn which is loaded with grilled kernels and worth the calorie splurge.
We were celebrating a birthday and just as soon as our dinner plates were cleared, we were brought a chocolate bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. We opted out of the the cherries jubilee sauce. It was enough for 4 to share easily. I liked the fact that they brought this complimentary dessert to us promptly before asking if we wanted to order a dessert. It was a generous gesture that we did not receive on a visit to Ruth's Chris.
This is the first 5.0 rating I've given and was well deserved. The new location on McKinney Ave is beautiful.
Best meal I have had in a while. Better dig deep in your pockets though it is not cheap.
Great Food! (But Expensive). I I took my husband, uncle and a friend here for dinner on Monday night.. I was a little nervous because the reviews on their service were so hit and miss.
The hostess wasn't at the stand when we came in, but she got there within a few minutes and even seated us before our reservation time. She wasn't friendly or rude. Our waitress was great, she seemed to know exactly how much time to give us to decide what we wanted and was on top of refilling our drinks. She didn't hover or try to be too buddy-buddy, which I appreciated - as snotty as it sounds, I can't stand a waiter that tries to be part of the group. It did take a while for our entrees to come out after we finished our apps; I actually liked this - who wants to be rushed through a $100/person meal?
The food was amazing! The crab and corn chowder was sweet and creamy with big chunks of crab.. the lobster bisque was so good my husband wouldn't share. Our steaks were cooked perfectly; my friend (a Louisiana boy) had the jumbo shrimp platter and said it was great.
Our experience was great, but the price tag seemed unneccesarily high ($350 for 4 people before tip). I think we'll return for lunch or happy hour.
