My husband and I drive from Indy to Culver once a year. We stop at Culver Academy, walk the grounds and then head to The Original Root Beer Stand for lunch. Love this place. Food is always good!

I love coming here. It is a tradition of sorts since they are only open during the warm summer months. They make their own Root Beer here and so the root beer floats are one of a kind. I highly recommend you get at least that when you go there.
They have very limited parking, but there is a great view of the lake from the picnic tables or front. Truly a must do if you are passing through or coming to check out the local offerings.
