As a public course, Ashton Hills deserves a 5-star. The course itself is very beautiful with a lot of pine trees and rolling hills. Some fairways are very tight with lush pine trees on both sides. There are plenty of elevation changes in the fairways and greens. Some holes have blind spots so shooting with a strategy on every shot will make you feel better at the end of the round. The elevated, fast greens are small with plenty of protection and undulations. Higher approach shots are recommended to avoid running off of the greens. The range grounds and balls need some improvements. It's both fun and challenging to play this scenic course.

Overall 4+,greens are excellent and true every single 1 of them.Cart paths are the worst thing here very rough but otherwise a definite must play.Food was very good and big portions. Full bar as well but no food before 11 during the week.Adequate pro shop and many bunkers under repair.Carts are in very good condition and fast.

This course was very underwhelming and one of the strangest ones I’ve played. The clubhouse customer service is nonexistent. They could care less if you are there or not. The entire course felt like I was playing in a mix of a rough hiking trail, a loud construction zone and a residential neighbourhood. All fairways are just too rugged, sloppy and disorganised for a golf course. If you are looking for a relaxing course, this is not it. However, if you want to trek up and down huge soil mounds and confusing layouts, you might love this. On the plus side, Ashton has some of the nicest greens I’ve played on. They are well-paced, clean and just pleasant to put on. They do have crazy variations in elevations on most of the greens but this made for some fun putts. Overall, I don’t think it’s worth driving an hour out to this course unless you’re from the Covington area or just really desperate.

First time playing this course. Course is in great shape and greens were firm and fast. Staff was very friendly and was upfront on expectations while you are out on the course - cart path, 90 degree rule, etc. Only gripe was the hurry up atmosphere. Starter moved tee time up by 10 minutes and then + a solo to our 3 person group (now a 4some). We learned on #1 tee box the fourth was learning to play which slowed us down big time. No biggie for me, great opportunity to share ideas and tips here and there. But when you have a Marshall riding the course telling you your group is off by 15 minutes and need to pick up the pace (twice), well, I just SMH and laughed!! And said yall added someone who doesn't know how to play to a group - on you, not us. I can only go as fast as the slowest player for whom I don't know. Maybe with solos you might want to find out their handicap and/or experience and let he/she play by themselves...idk...one thing I don't like is being rushed when I'm playing. Oh. And for the weekend rate $ plus the heat index, you ought to have water in your coolers by the tee boxes....several coolers were empty, and this was early morning too.

Staff is always helpful and friendly. You need well placed shots to navigate this course successfully. Some love it. Some don’t. Don’t blame the course !

Just a fantastic track in every respect. I'm finally getting a better feel for these quick greens. I love playing here. It's one of my favorite golf courses in Atlanta.
