Sheridan's Frozen Custard

This was my first visit here. And I must say it was amazing. This is kind of a different experience. I absolutely loved it. The Chocolate concrete and wedding cake concrete were amazing. I will definitely be trying other flavors as well. Pricing is the best for the quantity you get. Customer service is amazing.

Oh my the customer service was amazing. The guy at the drive thru was so fun and upbeat, he literally made my night. He helped me select my custard and definitely sold me on returning. Also this is the best frozen treat in Memphis. I drove from downtown just for this custard and it is always worth it.

Rolled up to Sheridan's for a late night frozen treat the other evening. They only do drive through or order at the window and there's no seating available, but that's typical of a lot of ice cream places, so no big deal. Service was very friendly and polite despite the late hour, and it looked clean inside where they were working. The custard just didn't really wow us, unfortunately. Perhaps we were overly simplistic; we only got single scoops of chocolate and vanilla, and one hot fudge sundae. I liked the chocolate best, but it had a slightly chalky texture and wasn't amazing. The vanilla didn't have a very strong flavor and doesn't hold a candle to Ted Drewe's. The hot fudge sundae was just vanilla custard with hot fudge. We were kind of expecting at least a cherry or some peanuts, but that wasn't the case. Still, frozen desserts can only be so bad, and I'd eat it again. Just might rather go to Baskin Robbins.

COVID era review. Staff was masked. On this visit, a hastily written sign was taped to the menu/marquee saying, "We are sold out of vanilla." This was also the greeting used when we placed our order. This was disappointing, as some of our favorite concoctions are made with vanilla concrete. The chocolate substitutes we ordered were not the same on that account, nor were the mocha almond standards up to par. They came out watery and with an overabundance of almonds. Some businesses have bad days, and that's okay. They were very busy and I could sense some frustration on the part of the young man that served us. It was disappointing to have driven from Ohio and wanting a Sheridan's as soon as possible, and to be met with service and product that was subpar. Oh well, I'll try again another day for sure. When it's right, it's great. This time it was just one of those things.
