The Gateway To Athens

We are pretty darn spoiled when it comes to food. We mostly eat grass fed meats. Lots of Whole Foods for us. But I’ve been wanting to check out this place for a while. I had taken my mother In Law to the big antique Mall in Concord and decided to pop in for a carry out. It took some time but it was worth the wait. We come from Detroit where you’ve got a lot of options for Greek food including the famous Greektown in downtown Detroit. Since moving to Davidson North Carolina I’ve been searching for some good Greek food and I think I finally found it. This appears to be a family owned business. I did request that they wrap my food so that it does not come in contact with the Styrofoam containers. I would suggest they look into different types of containers that are healthier for both them and their customers. Many restaurants have transitioned away from Styrofoam. Especially when serving hot food. My mother-in-law and I were impressed with the Gyro which is half lamb-beef. We also loved how they season their fries. While I have to admit at home we only do organic. These were delicious. The next time I’m in the area I will try more items off the menu. I really enjoyed it.

Horrible!! I was the only customer in the restaurant, one lady eating alone outside. The waitress took a telephone call (apologizing to the person on the other end) while I was waiting to order in my booth. She never came to take my order. I went to the counter, she was behind the curtain complaining to someone about the call, never came to the front counter until I said nevermind about my order. She then had an attitude that I was leaving. Whatever!!! You guys did that🤷🏽‍♀️ short staff is not to blame here.

I’ve never had a problem before I went in last week. But my husband and I came in ate good, I paid using my card and that was it. I’m not sure if my husband left a tip on the table or not because I went up front to pay for the order, but we always leave a tip whenever we go somewhere. We usually give it directly to the server, but this day they were very short and the server was in the back at that time. I went to go pay with my card and left. Once the check cleared someone from that establishment added a tip to my card. I called and the lady who served us immediately stated there definitely wasn’t a cash tip left. I stated I apologized if my husband didn’t leave a tip and that he’d be in to give one as soon as he could. But that doesn’t give anyone any reason to steal money off my card. I never leave tips on my card. I go in today to get my money that was taken off my card and the old hag who was the cook was very rude. I again apologized if my husband didn’t leave a tip, and let them know that I’m never coming back to their establishment because that’s stealing. She stated good for you. Again the food is great, I always give credit where it’s due, but they steal from your card. And yes I received my money they stole off my card.

One of the best Greek restaurants I have ever been to. Everything from the salad to the homemade hummus and falafel was absolutely delicious and bursts of freshly made food erupt in your mouth. I had the Moussaka for my entre and it was the best I have ever tasted. I can't say enough good things about Gateway to Athens. Service was extremely friendly. Food took a little bit to come out but that's a sign of a good restaurant that prepares dishes to order! First time here, but will absolutely not be my last time!!!!!!! Don't look any further, if you are looking for an absolutely delicious meal, this IS your place!!!!!
