There are so many amazing creations here. The Fire and Ice is a great take on Chocolate ice cream, with a spicy kick and delicious chocolate swirls. Sweet Rose and Lychee are my two most favorite flavors here, and the two i most often recommend to people. Sitafel is another great flavor, a kind of Custard Apple that you can't find anywhere else. Mango, Guava , and Papaya are delicious tropical flavors you have to try at some point.
I had the pistachio 'kulfi', which is a richer, creamier version of ice cream. I also had the Kesar Pista, which is pistachio ice cream with spices like cardamom. Both were delicious. The owner gave us samples of any flavor we wanted to try. I will definitely be going back. I highly recommend this place!
I have grown up going to Mardi gras for ice cream. Mita has known my family for almost twenty one years. I knew the original owner of the shoppe. I absolutely love love love the ice cream. First flavor I tried as a child was blue moon. Then as I grew up I fell in love with her cheesecake ice cream. So I highly recommend you try Mardi gras for the BEST ice cream you will EVER have.
Had this ice cream for the past 10 years and I'm never disappointed. best ice cream shop, hands down.
tho i've lived in Columbus for 30 years, i had never found myself on Hard Road for any reason, until i heard recently about Mardi Gras. i've now been there twice in as many weeks, and it's probably a good thing i don't live closer! while they make/serve a number of traditional flavors, it is the Indian flavors that will keep me going back. the malai kulfi is amazing--think spicy cardamom dancing on your tastebuds--and the delicate pink hue of the ginger flavor belies its zesty, flavorful bite. all this deliciousness is well worth the drive from anywhere in central ohio. go!!
My new all-time favorite ice cream first time going I got the rose and passion fruit and they did not disappoint. If only they were open all year long. Incredibly personable customer service was amazing I cannot wait to go back. definitely our families new favorite.
Highly recommend! Delicious ice creams and ice cream cakes. I had the chocolate and mango ice cream cakes at two parties and couldn’t stop thinking about it so decided to buy one cake to take to a friend for dinner.. Lots of Indian traditional flavors such as keshar pista, paan, seasonal fruits like sitaphal (custard apple), chiku (sapota), mango, etc… Sweet, friendly couple owners.
This place is a gem of powell, and a staple of the hard rd area! The BEST ice cream I’ve ever had, incredible unique flavors, All made in-store! You’ll have to visit many times to try all the flavors!
One of the best places for ice cream in Columbus! Absolutely delicious and I will be back. The owner looks like he has a good story to tell so I will definitely be back to learn more about this place! I would highly recommend
International (mostly Indian) flavors with really authentic taste available (also available are regular flavors), hands down they are the best in Ohio in this category. Small store with no franchise options (it is homemade and run by an old-age Indian couple).
Rajbhog flavor is the best, you can try many other Indian flavors like malai kulfi, kesar pista etc. There are three sizes available for to-go (pint, quart and half-gallon)
Amex cards are generally not accepted, but if you have no other cards available, they will accept it.
Sometimes the old-age couple can come across little impatient if you are a new customer, once you are a regular they are very friendly.
We came already excited because of the reviews and they weren't wrong! There is a ton of variety and flavors of ice cream. The shop is owned by a couple and it seems like they've been there for a long time. It's a small shop, with a comfortable vibe.
We got a scoop each and it's $3.25 for 1 scoop of ice cream in a cup. It might seem a bit expensive, but it's quality ice cream!
I got the guava ice cream and it was absolutely delicious, very fresh and creamy; the guava flavor was not lacking. We're not sure what the other flavor of ice cream we got was, but it was also delicious and very unique; it had mango, but the sherbet was green and tasted like tamarind.
This is a hidden gem because it's located in the suburbs and many people overlook it because it's in a plaza with many other businesses.
There's plenty of parking outside and right now, you need a mask to go in! Usually, they allow sampling, but during this pandemic, there is no sample available. I recommend this place for a unique experience, delicious quality homemade ice cream, and for a pick me up or sweet treat.
Unmissable!! I've never had better ice cream *anywhere*, and the flavors are so unique! I tried Ginger, Pumpkin, Chickoo and finally settled on Jasmine and Fig, each one was better than the last. Strong bright flavors, rich thick and creamy texture... Instant favorite!
The best ice cream ever! Mita and her husband are so sweet and truly make the best homemade ice cream. There are so many different flavors, you really can’t go wrong with any of them. My family has been going here for nearly 30 years.
No frills but pack a sweet homely touch? Yeah that’s what this place has in ice cream flavors. I was a little hesitant entering this place when i arrived today. It did not look like to be your typical “lit” ice cream parlor.
Although what it lacks in decor, it compensates in taste. I loved the malai kulfi, pan, sweet rose and sitafal flavors. These are indian 🇮🇳 flavors that i grew up on and it was a great surprise for me to try these ice creams after quiet sometime and that to fresh. I highly recommend this place and recommend to try the flavors on the white board like I did.
One more thing, this place is actually run by senior couple, so be patient you will get your worth of your dollars.
This place is best for indian flavors. Best ice creams I ever had in USA. So many different flavors that to all are made homemade. Kids flavors are also available. I like the photo they click and update on their wall. Best part is all are made homemade and you can try the flavors before you take it. I would say visit every week in summer. Kids will also love it and they have place to sit outside as well. So just enjoy the indian flavors.
Wonderful selection of traditional flavors and Indian flavors. Lychee and Guava are a must try for any ice cream lover!
Fantastic ice cream with a unique selection of “international flavors”. This place is definitely a hidden gem that deserves the high rating it already has. It’s everything you’d hope for in a small business.
Mardi Gras is one of my favorites for unique flavors. It’s different, delicious and handmade. What’s not to love. Yesterday we got a great sample of Banana, pistachio, Anjeer and a cinnamon flavor. I didn’t love the pistachio but the rest were phenomenal. We love getting different flavors and seeing how they taste with other spices and recipes. This place is a gem.
We've been waiting to try this place for awhile and stopped by on a Friday night. We ordered a pint of the lychee and a pint of the chickoo. Both were excellent! I had a hard time deciding on what to get because I wanted to try everything, it all looked delicious! The woman who helped us was knowledgeable and kind. The owner was very friendly! I can't recommend this place enough!
So far, I e been here twice, and I absolutely LOVE it! The first time, I got the trio sampler with the numbers 14, 16, and 17. Now I know I love the number 16, which is the Fire and Ice, so that’s what I got for both scoops this time around. The other flavors were good, too, but I absolutely LOVE the spicy chocolate that is the Fire and Ice!
I’ve been looking for a long time for sweet and spicy treats, and this hit the spot. Jeni’s used to do a spicy chocolate, but I have to say that each time I go to Jeni’s I have buyers remorse due to the heavy price and light portions. Mardi Gras, on the other hand, will supply you with a satisfying portion for your hard earned cash.
If you’ve had Jeni’s spicy ice cream you’ll recall the deep, dark chocolate with a subtle spice, but Mardi Gras is comin atcha with some creamy milk chocolate and plenty of kick! And it’s not just a simple cayenne spice, either. I’m not sure what the added nuance is, but the amazing chef told me she blends her own spices for the flavors; and I’m just grateful to be able to enjoy. So if you’re an ice cream connoisseur who loves complex and delicious flavor, or even if you just love a cold treat and want some of the most delicious ice cream you’ve ever had, go get some Mardi Gras.
Unique and delicious flavors you can't get anywhere else. Handmade by the owner on-site. Absolutely wonderful?
Customer service was great. Will post how great ice cream's taste was later. Have not had an opportunity yet after the purchase.
Wow! Went in earlier today for the first time and THE ICE CREAM WAS FRESH AND DELICIOUS! I went for the Malai Kulfi and it was so soft and yummy! Highly Recommend Mardi Gras Ice cream parlor! MOST IMPORTANTLY, THIS AMAZING PLACE IS A FAMILY OWNED LOCAL BUSINESS WHICH IS RUN BY A COUPLE (who are around 70 but with the energy of a couple in their 20’s)! They do this out of TRUE PASSION AND LOVE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS! So be patient when you go there please and cherish the memories you will make with your family AND THE ICE CREAM! And your kiddos smiles!
