Curiosity Coffee Bar

Very good cafe with a unique aesthetic and interesting variety of food and coffee options. I normally order a cappuccino to test how solid a cafe's coffee is, but chose to order a chai latte here. I made the right choice, with some small complaints. The chai tasted wonderful: it wasn't overly sweet, and this one was just right in terms of flavor. However, it was lukewarm. It simply wasn't served hot enough. I met up with an advisor whom I consider a good friend of mine here, and after they ordered a wedge of coffee cake, I decided to order a wedge myself. It was fantastic, aside from being a little dry and also a tad cold. Speaking of aesthetic, the building used to, I believe, function as a garage, and the interior is a mix of designs with a bare-bones, open feel. It's great with shelves full of beverages and interesting boxed items like banana-shaped wine stoppers. Plus, there's a variety of chair options, and places to plug in your laptop if you come here to knock out some work. I advise coming here - a great option for coffee just outside of downtown Columbia

Great atmosphere. Greater coffee! I’ve only been in the area for a month but I’ve tried about 5 other coffee shops and none of them compare. If you want yummy tasting, quality coffee made by a skilled barista, this is your place! Kind staff goes a long way too! I got the baklava latte (SO GOOD) I drank it way too fast!

Was looking for a place to get some coffee and saw some of the reviews for this place. Upon entering this establishment, I was greeted with a smile and a good morning. I informed them that this was my first time here and the person who took my order was very pleasant and helpful. The latte I ordered was very good. They can make what you want however you like it. The atmosphere is eclectic and very relaxing. I recommend this place especially to those who wish to support small businesses If you’re looking for great coffee from a place that is not your typical “chain” brand of coffee, then this is the place for you!

Somehow when I read these glorious reviews for this place I thought the bagels would be amazing. I called ahead to make sure they were open and had bagels left. I told the man who answered the phone I was walking from my downtown hotel. Turns out the walk is through a sketchy area. I wished he commented on that but he didn’t. I got there and ordered my NY City flown-in, exceptional bagel toasted with cream cheese. Sorry (really not sorry) but any self respecting NYer does not expect to get their bagel with a tiny tub of cream cheese on the side and a plastic knife. The expectation is it’s already on the bagel. I ate my sorry and sad tasting bagel and walked back to my hotel. Perhaps unfairly I had been to the Carolina Cafe earlier in the weekend and ordered the same thing there—plain bagel toasted with extra cream cheese. There I received a proper breakfast sandwich, already spread with melty, yummy cream cheese. It was incredible. Curiosity Coffee Bar, you have a way to go. Please also explain why I have an option to ‘tip’ you when I pay using my card? You did nothing but put the bagel in the toaster.
